We don't know if we'll have the same GM next season.  We're pretty confident we'll have a different HC.  So it's probably too early to speculate.  But if I had to guess, this is the breakdown of the roster, using cap figures as a guide:

Safe (unless traded)

OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson

C Nick Mangold

WR Eric Decker

K Nick Folk

OT Breno Giacomini (not financially viable to cut)

DE/LB Quinton Coples (Free agent after 2015; likely his final season as a Jet)

DE Sheldon Richardson

DE Muhammad Wilkerson

WR Jeremy Kerley

CB Dee Milliner

RB Chris Ivory

S Calvin Pryor

QB Geno Smith (Jets will likely bring in 2 new QB's but Geno will be given a chance to be the backup)

DE Leger Douzable (2014 free agent, can be brought back cheaply)

Pace isn't going anywhere. I think Babin also stays. David Harris can be brought back at a much lower salary and should be used on non-passing downs. Willie Colon has no replacement so he may be back again unless we go G early in the draft.

Percy is not a "most likely cut and resigned" player. I doubt he'll come back here WHEN he's cut. Jets will try to restructure. If Percy doesn't agree to some guarantee money, he'll be cut. Jets will try to resign him, but if Idzik is here, Percy will not resign for a one year, $4mil deal. If Percy has couple more games with 100+ receiving yards with our QBs, we may not even release him after all. I think Landry comes back as depth. Same with Kenrick Ellis.

Hoping marcus williams steps up again this week, did pretty well last week, although wasn't tested all that much.

Also hoping Rontez Miles can make the team.

Who's Marcus Williams? Seriously, I didn't know half the secondary in the last game.

I agree although Babin has had an impact. I would probably let Barnes go as history has shown he is a walking inury. I agree that Harris needs to go.

I agree except

 Quigley stays

Harvin will not be cut and resigned as that would make him a FA and someone will give him big money.  He restructures or plays on current contract.  I like he has no guarantee $$

Ellis is resigned

Enunwa comes back in some fashion.

Not sure about Geno not getting cut out right.   I hope he does but not sure.

Looks pretty good and thanks for putting in all of the work, but just a few things I wouldn't completely agree with.  Just due to already prevalent depth issues, they'll probably try to bring Harris back as long as it's at a reasonable price (i.e., much less than his last deal).  While obviously it will be up to how the new coaching staff sees him, but despite his lack of contributions at WR, Hakim is really just the new Wallace Wright and will probably be fighting it out until the very end as a STer.

Agree that Geno probably sticks, as the QB position is probably going to be a matter of signing a FA, then drafting someone on top of that, with the veteran FA slated to start and Geno being the backup / guy the rookie is forced to work his way over in the depth chart to go along with a more "traditional" QB development setup.

They seem to like Enunwa and it was his legal troubles that got him bumped down to the PS, so I'd guess he's back on the roster next year unless they make some significant moves at the position this offseason.  The new coaching staff and their defense will have a large say in what happens with Pace and/or Babin, as both are shades of their former selves but also still have value as situational/veteran players.  Rex would probably keep both, but we know it won't be his decision.

Quincy Enunwa Will be a Jet next year. At minimum he will be on the practice squad. The Jets can't afford to just draft and cut WR's without seeing what they're made of. He was a 4th round rookie, the purpose was to develop him. If not then why even waste a mid draft pick?

Enunwa was a sixth round rookie, and the Jets drafted and cut Saunders pretty quickly. That said, I'd agree he'll be back in some capacity now that the domestic violence charge has been dropped.

As for the OP, Evans I think is far from a lock to make the roster. Seemed like he looked pretty bad in camp and I don't think he had that many tools even when he was drafted. Aside from him and Enunwa, I agree with other posters on Quigley, am not so sure on Bohanan (who knows how he'll fit what I'd imagine will be a new offensive scheme), and would guess Powell moves on. Looks really good overall though.

and the draft should look like this 1st QB Mariota 2nd WR Ty Montgomery 3rd OT  C. Erving the rest BPA.Two years ago we had no depth at the O line no we got some if they they do this we will be ok for the future. I like your list good work.

that is the question we have all been asking for 2 long idzik years.   why draft a DT and make him an OG?   why draft a miniature PR with a 4th rd pick with so many holes on both sides of the ball?   why neglect the CB position?   why push all in with Geno Nagel when there were so many QBs available?   why ignore the OL?   why, why, why?

in general, let's just let the new regime pick the roster.  wasting 7M of cap space on harvin was enough of a mistake without compounding it any furthre.

Thanks for taking the time to sketch this out.

I think after a 2 or 3 win season, where the GM and HC both go the new regime has to start as fresh as possible.

I can't see keeping Geno at this point. Rex drove that one until the wheels came off... Which is his M.O. as a coach. One of the reasons he's a QB killer. I know Geno doesn't cost much next year, but he has become such a punch line... So quickly. How can we realistically use him moving forward.

I also would like to see D'Brick gone. He simply went from a B+ tackle who is supremely durable to a C-. The shows over with that one.

If we switch to a 4-3 I'd give Coples a shot at DE where he belongs.

I'd also franchise Wilkerson and shop him. I know most people think it's crazy, but Rex has spoiled these guys. They simply aren't winners. Anyone who gives a Gatorade bath to their coach for going 8-8 is a loser at heart.

We need some vocal leaders and some players with high standards. I have never been a proponent of the "blow it up" and start over philosophy, but there is no question the time has come.

We need to find guys like Marvin Jones, Vilma, CMart, Chrebet, Klecko, Thomas Jones, Pennington, Mawae and Revis. Leaders

That's an unbelievable stat.

I believe you, but watching the games, that seems immpossible

He's actually had a ton of punts in the 50 range with minimal returns. Most of his punts are over 50 yards. He'll shank a punt a game that would affect his average.

great post thanks for this. I think they hold onto Johnson next year though and I think he will preform better as the rest of this season plays out. babin they might also hold onto. I suspect in the unlikely event that a top WR becomes available in free agency ie (Dez or Maclin) the jets will flat our cut harvin to sign them.

Yeah no one on this roster should be considered "safe".  There's a price to be had for any of them.  First and foremost we need three new offensive linemen.  Brick and Mangold need help and we need to get back to where we were in 09-10 when we had one of the game's top lines.
