JohnnyLV
1. Petty goes into camp as starter 2. Hack goes into camp as starter Any scenario where McCown goes into camp as starter, or gets anything more than mop up reps is completely unacceptable and the start of repeating the last 2 years of mistakes at the QB position. Our QB situation is NOT on any level whatsoever on "who gives us the best chance to win" now, it is ALL about developing the 2 young QBs we have so one of them can be the guy in the future who is the guy, or neither are and we go in a different direction. But any stealing of the reps that Petty and Hack must have is unacceptable, as is any treading the water move by giving McCown reps or starts. That said I have 0% confidence in Bowles doing the right thing, especially after I heard they will split reps 3 ways in OTAs. Bowles is a fuucking moron, and is not learning from his mistakes. Pac
I'll never understand the desperation to play a QB just because he's young. Petty sucks and Hack hopefully sucks less. If neither of them can hang close to McCown than neither should start. That's how a coach loses a team. That said the only way Hack doesn't start a game or more this year is if we're winning games with McCown. No one here seems to think that's possible so relax... we'll see Hack soon enough. JoJoTownsell1
I'm more concerned about who goes into the season as the starter. Hack or Petty would be my choice, but we all know Mccown is getting the job until he gets hurt or the Jets are mathematically eliminated because......Bowles
Joe W. Namath
McCown is the unquestioned starter. The other 2 should not even be in the nfl.

This was pretty well shown last year. Our gm is weak and has no more authority than the coach so he can't lay down the law.

This isn't about laying down the law or one person out ranking the other , this comes down to making smart decisions - the Jets better start making them . Most orgs that have the same model have coaches who have earned the extra pull by winning. Mac could be making all sorts of smart decisions to appease the current coach. If the current coach has a flawed vision and is a flawed coach it does not work.
BCJet
Why would they hand the job to anyone after a series of practices in shorts and tshirts? You cant preach competition and then simply give the job to anyone. They should say that like almost every other position on the team, QB will be a competition and reps will be decided once it gets closer to the start of TC and evolve as the players show their grasp of the offense - very simple. #27TheDominator
FWIW, I think that Petty has looked better than Clemens did and Clemens is going on his 12th year in the league.

Just how starved for QBs is this league if Kellen Clemens has been employed for that long????

Sanchez and Geno got reps because the team had no choice.
jmat321
Josh McCown - Irish? Will he throw over 30 TDs while we just miss the playoffs? Give him $15 mill a day before training camp in 2018? This is guy might check all the boxes.
Beaver
If McCown starts, why not blame Petty or Hackenburg for not being good enough to beat out a sh*tty QB instead of the HQ. Or Better yet, dont blame the players because they aren't good enough, but blame the GM who put the Jets in this position by drafting both sucky QBs. Bowles may be a bad HQ, but he is the last person to blame if McCown starts.
nicg4360
If petty or hack don't beat out McCown with his whole 2 wins and 20 losses the past 3 years we definitely will be keeping an eye on the 2018 draft class. August
So far McCown is the best QB on the roster and if it continues that way then he should start. We want the young guys to play but they have to earn their spot as well. We can't just hand them the job simply because they're young.
