Cousins doesnt have 1 nfl caliber reciever or rb.  How can you expect the guy to do anything?

Id take mayfield at 7 but if we get cousins its not a bad consolation prize.

Not true he doesn’t have superstars but he has decent skill players CJ Beathard shat all over this giants defense

Go ahead and name the guys he was handing off to and throwing to today without looking it up. And then tell me how they’re “decent”. There’s nothing in Washington and anything that was there was injured most of the year.

Perine is an ok back and Josh Doctson is decent. You are just mad because people like yourself have been calling Cousins top 5 or top 10 yet he can’t score against a lousy giants D and is going 7-9

True.  Mac bids against himself so maybe he makes Case Keenum a $100 million man?

I would go as far as saying this is the most likely offseason scenario. Would we even be so surprised to find out that Mac Attack and his buddy McClown do a Face Off on Keenum so that Mac is really paying McCown? I imagine not, but they are so diabolically stupid that it’s probably what they will do.

Perine is a rookie who was 4th string before injuries. He’s okay but he’s not more than that. Doctson is a 2nd year player who has 33 career catches. Come on.

Moreover, I’ve never said that Cousins was top 5 or 10 but he’s a really good QB who would make this team a playoff contender immediately.

Perine is interchangeable with a McGuire or Powell.  Cousins had both Desean Jackson and Jordan Reed the year before and missed the playoffs

This is Kirk Cousins keep it simple......

https://www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/sports/kirk-cousins-has-a-bright-future-but-its-likely-not-with-the-redskins/2017/12/24/d0da3e28-e8e9-11e7-9f92-10a2203f6c8d_story.html

In the last three years, out of all quarterbacks with 250 pass attempts, Cousins ranks third in the NFL in yards and fourth in quarterback rating.

In that time, Cousins is also fourth in adjusted net yards per attempt, an excellent all-around statistic that includes ratio of touchdown-to-interceptions, as well as frequency of being sacked. Ahead of him are only Tom Brady, 2016 MVP Matt Ryan and future Hall of Famer Drew Brees.

When you consider that Cousins is only 29, while several of the NFL's best quarterbacks, such as Ben Roethlisberger, Carson Palmer, Brees, Eli Manning and Brady, are near the end of their careers, his future in the league looks ever better.

Hmmmmmm I so glad you asked?  Let's see what a competitor  Von Miller said about Kirk Cousins, shall we...

"We couldn't get any pressure on him — quick passes. He was connecting. He was on fire. . . . Kirk is a great quarterback. I'll say that every day of the week," said Denver linebacker Von Miller, one of the greatest pass rushers who ever lived but a force who was almost erased from this game by Cousins's quick release, play-calling, audibles, mobility and awareness of where and when pressure might arrive.

"I'm with everybody else [on Cousins]. . . . A lot of teams would kill to have a quarterback like that," Miller added. Will Cousins end up in Denver, where Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway is team president? "Like I said, literally kill to have a quarterback like that. The list [of Cousins's suitors] is long," Miller said. "We'll cross that bridge if we ever get to it."

Something to think about and folks are arguing for McCown to come back!!

Can't make it up!!

I can!

- Ultimately a QB is defined by his W/L and SBs. Those are the only stats that matter. Through three seasons Cousins has not won anything! How many QBs who don’t win anything after three seasons ever win anything?

- So now this proves that the Broncos are the favorites for Cousins! Good! They can afford to take the gamble as their roster is more Prepared for a QB.

- So the Jets are supposed to gamble every dollar of cap space they will ever have to sign this guy for all eternity on the word of Von Miller and some Star Wars numbers? (Transition to wins talk)

IMO Kirk Cousins should be acquired IF THE JETS have a long term plan!

Gambling for most is antithetical to having a plan unless you are a professional gambler.

In management one of the key components that that they teach in Business School and in every MBA program in the country is you must have a long term and short term plan.  The issue isn't the amount of money spent but what is your plan with those dollars.

For example for years Amazon LOST MONEY trying to gain market share and presence and they did so in order that they could dominate the marketplace. Now they dominant their marketplace.  So the money they spent (lost) was worth every penny!!

So don't look at the money alone, look at how the money is being spent and the plan surrounding it.

And IMO Cousins could be a part of a successful plan that could result in a SB....

The planning is Cousins handing off to McGuire and playing behind a bottom 3 O-line

He's the Phillip Rivers of the NFC.

so they can sign a guy like cousins, and use the draft picks for some good oline, edge rusher, cornerback talent.  and then pick up another qb in the 3rd round or later to take petty's place.  seems like a reasonable plan.  the point is if they want to throw a ton of salary cap at a qb then they need the high draft picks to bring in the talent for other positions.  another point is if they did manage to draft a guy like rosen the rookie deal will probably be north of 6.5 M per season guaranteed for 4 years with a manageable cap hit after season 3.  the delta between a cousins type and rookie is maybe 75 M over the same 4 year contract.  so it's all about picking one's poison.

I keep hearing Kirk Cousins is so great yet Tyrod Taylor is playing next weekend

I don’t want anything to do with a QB who is an “athlete” first and foremost.

You bring in Taylor and you have to design an entire gimmicky offense around him.

Look what Buffalo has been doing for the last 3 years on offense. McCoy is really the only reason that it has worked to a degree. A bunch of read option and reverse bullsh*t while pounding the call with McCoy and Co.

Cousins is a traditional pocket passer who can function in a traditional NFL offense that doesn’t need to employ a bunch of smoke and mirrors to be successful.
