If your great roster is constantly riddled with injuries.....it's not a great roster.

Health and durability are the top factor.  The greatest player ever is no good if he's fragile and sitting on IR.

Someone like AVT had two freaky injuries, Bechton too, Mitchell had a blood clot issue, it does take luck as well...

but yeah, best ability is avail.... Definitely a better roster, perfect no, much better def

D'Brickshaw Ferguson strictly from a value point was worth about 4 1st round picks.

Joe Douglas is tremendous at about 2/3 of the things you need to be good at to be a good GM, he has a pretty bad 1/3rd however that has hurt this team in the past and could do so in the future as well.

I said for years that Jets fans would yearn for Brick the very moment he retired.

Him not turning into Munoz or Ogden as the #4 pick was some sort of disappointment for a lot of Jets fans, I guess.

Meanwhile we’re working on a solid decade of a revolving door at the most important OL position ever since he rode off into the sunset.

There were people on here blasting him his last year or so for not being a good run blocker and being perfectly happy to let him go.

Meanwhile our rival the dolphins were in the middle of about a 10 year path of trying to find a LT using multiple high picks and high priced FAs

And none of that has anything to do with Douglas's job at building the roster, for which he has done an outstanding job. Injuries happen!

If you say so.

Guess no one is responsible for any of the bad stuff. Extend em” all I guess, what could go wrong.

The AVT injuries were certainly unforeseeable, but that doesn't change you still better hit a home run if drafting a guard with a high first rounder.  It also cannot be ignored that both AVT injuries occurred when he was needed to play out of position, specifically due to the poor talent/depth on the OL overall.  Becton is a totally different story, there are no excuses for that, his physical conditioning was considered a red flag for him coming out in the draft.

Even the draft picks aside, one of the biggest issues with both talent and health since JD has been around has come from his insistence of nearly every FA signing not named DJ Reed being old veterans well past their prime that the former team is done with.  The combination of increased injury rates and decline in play that comes at that point in their career is the known risk that is the reason other teams often don't want to pay up for these guys.  You can make those gambles on occasion, but it's not excusable when building your entire team on those guys and them failing more than succeeding.

I'll certainly give JD credit for how his 2022 offseason is looking to date, but all of the years beyond that have shown far more bad than good, meanwhile it's been a Wilson-like list of excuses for why it's not his fault when he's repeating the same mistakes after nearly 5 years.

While the rest of the league contenders were wheeling and dealing today, our boy was getting Chick Fil A on DoorDash and negotiating with a washed up lineman who was atrocious last season.

I can’t wait for the introductory tweet from the Jets Twitter/X account:

“Big addition for a big 2nd half.  We’ve officially added Rodger Saffold III to the practice squad.  Tap here to welcome Rodger to the team! #TakeFlight #JeddddddUp”

To be fair,Joe Tippmann is better than any of the OL traded today. Way better. Relax guys.

sh*t happens in the NFL and injuries are unpredictable. Should we not have drafted AVT and Hall because they got injured. Tough to blame a GM for that.

He had a 2-3 year stint as the best pure pass-blocking LT in the league, and he was always well above average in that department.

Exactly what you want out of a LT first and foremost, in addition to him being an absolute iron man who wouldn’t have missed a single snap in a 10 year career if Mangini didn’t yank him off the field in a last ditch effort, miracle attempt against the Jags.

Not for us. We’re devastated by injuries every single year. But sh*t happens, no one’s fault we’re always among the most injured teams in the league.

What's the deal with Carter Warren btw?  Is he hurt and out for the year?  Or maybe still recovering from an injury in college?

He was recovering from the injury, so got off to a slow start

Given where they took him and what Saleh has said about him, I think he was definitely always looked at as a developmental prospect who wouldn’t contribute this year.

Who was dealing today other than the niners?

He's very good at everything except the OL which should be his strength. But I truly believe our fields are a huge issue.

He’s not bad at OL. He’s had bad luck at OL. Becton wasn’t an injury rush when we drafted him. AVT wasn’t. Tippman wasn’t. There’s a difference between being bad at something and just having bad luck. He’s had bad luck. Being bad would be not drafting OL with high draft picks and then not having a good OL.

Not saying this is your thought process but AVT its 2 freaky injuries and Mike White breaking 5 ribs on a vicious hit is injury prone
