Ndamukong Suh DESTROYS Jake Delhomme

Haha! Not for nothing, but that looked like a 30 yard penalty to me. First he grabbed Delhomme's facemask, then he threw him down by his head. Damn! laugh.gif

If I'm on the Lions coaching staff, as long as Suh doesn't get suspended or something, I LOVE this. I'll take a little too much intensity over too little (I'd like to see Vernon Gholston or D'Brickashaw Ferguson get a penalty like that some day).

Exactly. They should be able to compound penalties.

It's not really funny, because that's like Suh taking a bat to Delhomme. Of course Delhomme should complain. It was a dirty play.

Why? It's a dirty play.

Did you like when Albert Haynesworth cleated a downed OLineman with his helmet off? That's a dirty play too.

You're right, but I'm thankful for the exaggerated reminder that football is a violent game. I was getting to think QB's could do whatever they wanted without physical punishment.

If you can't separate the two situations I don't know what's wrong with you. Its a late hit, not an attempt to stab someone in the face with metal cleats. QB's get thrown down all the time.

I, too, hate that QBs wear skins from the officials. Of course, unless they play for the Jets and then the officials let them get mauled.

But, seriously, this is not a good counter to that. That was a dirty play even in the 1970s when defenders could do anything to a QB.

Separate the situation?

Suh could have (1) broken Delhomee's neck and (2) could have blown out Delhomme's knees.

How's that better than stomping a guy?

Watch the re-play again.

Very dirty play which shouldn't be laughed at. Sure Jake Delhomme may be a stopgate QB for Cleveland and we don't have an invested interest in the organization, but any fan would be outraged if their franchise QB got violently thrown down like that. Let alone did he grab him with facemask, but after Delhomme was on his knees and defenseless Suh proceeded to throw him down with his facemask. A play like that could be career ending, considering the chance of a neck injury or a severe concussion. Goodell should jump in and punish him, and any Lions D coordinator should jump all over this play. There's a major difference between aggressive football versus dumb football. This is by far the latter

Heres some compound,, he should have been thrown out of the game then suspended for 2 regular season games without pay. That was totally over the top.

It's only a dirty play because it's a QB. Backs get tackled up around the shoulders all the time and it's nasty, but part of the game, imo.

I almost feel bad for Mangini, having to watch Delhomme essentially sink whatever remains of his head coaching career. I always thought Eric, while he had a lot to learn about communication and handling players, was a promising defensive mind. He got a lot out of the rubble that Herm left behind.

What could you possibly have based this on?

Browns expect Ndamukong Suh review

BEREA, Ohio -- Detroit Lions rookie defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh grabbed Jake Delhomme's face mask, twisted it, wrapped his arms around the Browns quarterback's head and slammed him to the ground.

It was hard to watch -- in real time or instant replay.

The Browns hope the NFL looks at it again.

Cleveland coach Eric Mangini expects the league to review Suh's rough treatment of Delhomme in Saturday's exhibition game in Detroit.

In the second quarter, Delhomme was scrambling out of the pocket when he was grabbed by Suh, the No. 2 overall pick in April's draft. Suh flung the 35-year-old to the ground, and Delhomme got up waving his arms in protest. Suh was assessed a 15-yard penalty for the infraction, which seemed severe enough to warrant an ejection.

Mangini said at his news conference Monday that he will ask the league to investigate the play, but he assumed it would do so anyway.

League spokesman Gregg Aiello said in an e-mail the play was being reviewed.

"I was just going after the ball, and I had no clue that he had gotten rid of it," Suh said. "I don't know what to expect from the league. I've gotten personal fouls before, but that was in college, and they can't fine you there."

Browns backup quarterback Seneca Wallace called for Suh to be suspended, but one of Suh's veteran teammates thought that was an overreaction.

"It definitely is," Kyle Vanden Bosch said. "I asked him what happened, and he said he thought Delhomme still had the ball. We're going after the quarterback and trying to make a play, and sometimes you make a mistake, but he wasn't trying to hurt anyone."

Mangini does not believe there was any intent on the part of Suh, the former Nebraska standout, to injure Delhomme. Mangini was impressed with Suh during Cleveland's predraft evaluations.

"When I met the kid, he was a good kid," Mangini said. "I don't think he's a malicious guy, from what I know about him. It was just a poor decision."

Mangini would not say if he felt Suh should have been ejected.

"It put the quarterback at risk, but I'm not the official," Mangini said. "You don't want to see that at any point, but my experience with him in the draft process is that he's a good kid and it was just not a great decision."

Delhomme, too, said he would leave any discipline up to others.

"I'll let the league office handle that," Delhomme said with a smile. "We got a first down out of it and that made me happy."

it's all jokes until the QB that gets raped is Mark Sanchez.

Personally if Suh did that to Sanchez I'd be beyond pissed. That was a dirty play...he didn't need to unnecessarily throw him to the ground.

The face mask was bad, but not a first. The throw wasnt that big of a deal. The way Eli got rocked looked worse than that. You guys are all over reacting.

Plus, like he said in Larz's post...he thought he had the ball. I could see how, from his perspective, he might have though Jake tucked the ball.

Was it too far. Yes. Especially after the face mask, but that was not by any means the most violent thing I've seen in Football. I've seen worse, much worse and it wasnt flagged.

C'mon guys. It's only Jake Delhomme. I'll laugh all I want at his punk-a$$. Delhomme = Chad Pennington with an attitude problem.

Dude, seriously, just drop it. Every time you try to justify your love of stupidly played dirty cheap-shot football the more embarrassing it becomes. And who care who it is? You find enjoyment in seeing someone you don't know personally neck twisted, picked up by the head and slammed down while defenseless? Thas not cool. I love hard hitting football as much as any one, but dirty plays like that are sickening.

And like the little bit** that Delhomme is, he starts whining about it. I love it. Take THAT, Roger Goodell.

why would you like a play like this? it's stupid. it'd a definite fine and just an all around dirty play. nothing to like. you wanna cheer for crap like this go watch wwf.

15 yards for giving him the business.

Dirty play but it reminded me of football in the 60's and 70's, beyond the face mask you don't see the viscous intent and hate in the body language in today's game very often. That guy is one nasty SOB. Reminds me of the Raiders in the 60's, they tried to destroy the opposition QB not sack them.
