Bleedin Green
If it's a cheap deal, it sounds good to me. It might not work out, but definitely has the makings of a low risk / high reward situation as long as the Jets know better than to think this solves all of their questions at WR this offseason. Could still use another proven vet and / or a playmaker in the draft.
bitonti
he's actually a decent young player, with potential to be very good. I like this signing.

BroadwayJ667
Him or Floyd I take either over this waste of talent at #2 WR This is a depth move to me. There is no way that they will rely on Chaz to start the whole season. This is a low cost move to allow them to maneuver in the draft
JohnnyHector
JCo as #2 At least I hope Doubtful... too strong a market for 6'0" wideouts who ran a 4.6 at the combine 8 years ago and developed a penchant for dropping passes thrown right to him. Integrity28
Drew Stanton to Chaz Schillens Soon to become this summer's Brett Ratliffe to David Clowney. Basically we are using FA period to bolster the bubble positions on our roster.
JetNation
A few minutes after signing Stanton the Jets have reached an agreement with FA wide receiver Chaz Schilens who played for the Raiders last season. He has 72 catches for 7 touchdowns in 4 years with the Raiders. #EA The Jets have agreed to principle on a contract with WR Chaz Schilens. — New York Jets (@nyjets) March 16, 2012 Chaz played under our current WR coach Sanjay Lal while in Oakland. RyanBe_Tweetin
This is Sanjay Lal's fault. Convincing Rex and Tanny that Schilens has a chance to be a star in the league. He should know that he can't stay on the field all the Raider fans do.
Stonehands
A few years ago, we were up in arms on this board when the Jets considered trading a second rounder to acquire another tall, fleet unknown receiver in Miles Austin. That being said, Schilens is no Miles Austion, just saying....
JayKwaz
With our cap room Schilens is a perfect signing. Highly doubt he cost much. He has skills, just needs to stay on field. as others have posted, not that he will stop us from upgrading at WR but we don't have to jump at one that isn't good value. I see 4 WR's on roster now with Holmes, Turner, Kerley and Schilens. Still have a 5th spot for a draft pick. I would stay arway from a vet and get a young guy to grow with Sanchez. Thai Jet
Hello Stephen Hill Be careful what you wish for. You do have to love Hill's speed but I saw him drop quite a few passes . He's pretty raw as far as a draft choice. I see him as a boom or bust.
