Jet9
I realize it's click bait season, but come on. They use PFF (Pffft) as a reference, for starters. Then they use his numbers with Peyton Vs Geno. Can we all agree Peyto is better than Geno? OK, cool. So he has just 12 less catches, and 200 less yards with clearly an inferior QB, all while being banged up. I think TDs aren't exactly an accurate measure here being the types of offenses that were run, but whatever. I thought he wasnt bad at all considering the variables. To be fair when did Eric Decker get most of his yards- in garbage time ( see last game against Dolphins who made even Geno Smith look great- how hard were they playing,. Where was Mr Decker when the Jets were playing meaningful games.

jgb
He had the worse QB in the NFL throwing to him, was dinged up the entire year, and missed a game. Yet he still almost got 1,000 yards. I'd say that shows that Decker is underrated. With Fitz throwing him the ball he'd easily go 1,200 yards and double the TDs.
JiFtheOracle
Who's overrating Eric Decker? Nobody considers him a #1 because hes' not. Not even his own team thinks he's #1; see BMarhs and his contract. Stupid article.

Raideraholic
Was week 1 meaningful? Probably not. guess not because there has to be a reason Geno Smith looked good. Let's look at the facts three of his highest receiving yards were 3 out of the last four games of the season( garbage time). Where was he against the Patriots( one of the last four games) No where to be found. So tell me what exactly am I making up.
GenoandtheJets
Decker isn't overrated as a Wide Receiver. He just underachieved last season and was double covered because he was the best receiver for the Jets at that time. Now he won't be the best receiver for them because they acquired other quality receiver options to go along with him on the depth chart.
Jetsfan80
He produced with Tebow and Geno. He's legit as a low-end WR1 or WR2. Nowhere near "overrated" or even overpaid.

Is Brandon Marshall a number 1 type of Wr anymore( for his career he was) . The Bears don't think so, and we will see if they were correct in their assessment. Brandon Marshall playing with a way better Qb than Jets have, had one of his worse years last year. His numbers are suppose to improve with the Jets Qb situation. Let's hear the receiving numbers you expect from Marshall and Decker. ( So we can gage what you consider good and bad year.

So let me get this straight, a guy plays 14.5 games and has a nagging hamstring injury for the entire year, has the likes of David Nelson and Greg Salas starting opposite him, has arguably the worst QB play in the league and STILL manages to garner 962 yards and 5 TD's and you consider that OVERrated. Yeah, you are definitely a bright football mind. Yeah it was all garbage time... totally.. with a team that starts 1-7, the entire season is garbage time! Simple minded Dick and Jane "analysts" have been trying to peddle the weak theory that Decker is simply a "product of Peyton" for 2 years and it has ZERO merit. The guy can play and is a high end #2 no matter who is throwing him the ball.
#27TheDominator
Oooh PFF. AFAIK, PFF rated Decker the 24th WR. There are more than 24 teams which means that is #1 WR territory.

Still waiting for the 2015 numbers you expect from Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. Anyone? Listen I don't care how bad the Qb or the weapons around them, someone has to catch the balls for an offense. Case in point. Te Brandon Myers in 2012 for the Raiders had 79 receptions for 806 yards his last year with the Raiders. Did that make him a good tightened putting up those numbers on a bad team. the question was why would anyone throw the football thAt much to him.( Decker put up 410 yards in three of the last four game of the season. 962 yards he finished with - 410( 3 out of the four last games of season )= 552 yards in 12 other games(46 yards per game)
DoubleDown
Decker is far from overrated. He has good size and does everything well. He's everything you ask for from a #2 WR. I'm sure Peyton Manning agrees.

Sperm Edwards
Also related, in 2006 Larry Fitzgerald was overrated. But he became good again the next season. Then in 2012 he was overrated again, but was good again in 2013. Then in 2014 all the Cardinals WRs as a group became overrated after Palmer got injured. lol

Jet Nut
So first they spent every minute after he was signed claiming he wasn't a 1 then after he puts up near 1 numbers with lousy QB play he's now over rated? Patriot Killa
I'll defend Decker to the death. Dude almost puts up a 1,000 yard season with Vick and Geno playing musical chairs under center along with missing a few games and playing through most with a pulled hammy. Anything to low ball the Jets though right?
JetsFanatic
Decker had 74 catches and 962 yards even though he missed two games and was hampered and sub-par in two others, it was virtually a 12 game season for him. Where was Mr Decker when the Jets were playing meaningful games. If by garbage time you mean a team still playing for playoff spot in the Dolphins, then sure. And the term "garbage time" refers to a blow out game when the D backs off. Not the entire game. Did you notice he played with a bad hamstring for a good part of the year? You can't see that when you look at stats, which is what you looked at.
