If Klecko and Revis are the 2 greatest Jets defensive players ever, who's 3rd?

When are you going to let that go!!!! :)

Never.

And anyone who does is not a diehard Jets fan.  A selfish play from a selfish player costs us a trip to the AFC Championship Game.  There is no forgiveness.

#99 singlehandily turned the pass rush specialist into the rock stars of NFL defenses.

Aside from the long TD pass, KO return or int. TD what play generates more excitement than a timely strip fumble sack?

73 was the complete player 99 could never be but still one of the best ever.

I would bet most people would rank Joe Klecko and Darrelle Revis 1 - 2 or 2 - 1 among the greatest Jets defensive players ever.  Not everyone would, of course, but I think most would.

If Klecko and Revis are 1 - 2, who is 3rd?

Vernon Gholsten or Kyle Wilson, cant decide.

Gerry Philbin

Along with Joe Namath and Don Maynard, the only Jet defensive player to make the AFL All-Time squad as a first teamer.

THIS.  Philbin was an amazingly athletic and dominant DE.  He and Vernon Biggs were kick-ass bookends.

I call HORSESH!T!!!

Gastineau was ONE OF THE MOST FEARED PASS RUSHERS in the 80's and STILL IS the TRUE ALL-TIME SACK LEADER!!!!!

YES, he was an idiot and cost us a trip to the Superbowl (JUST LIKE D'Brick in the '10 AFCCG missing that CB blitz which led to the deciding TD vs. the Steelers)  but HOW DARE YOU question fan loyalty for recognizing one of the GREATEST Jets to put on a Kelly Green uniform. AND YES, Gastineau's STUPIDITY is merely a reflection of the Jets' fan base, but the man made it WORK!

Breathe it in Sar . . . . .

Mark's s*tty play cost us a trip to two super bowls, yet you've been able to let go of that pretty quickly.

No. That one is on Sanchez and Schotty.

No. Brick had OUTSIDE and then INSIDE. He first went to block the DE inside and funneled him to the LG BUT he should have seen that BOTH CBs (Gay and Taylor) were coming on the blitz - they left the X completely uncovered except for the Safety who was deep. He had 3 defenders coming at him. Tomlinson had the MOST outer guy, MIDDLE blitzing CB should have been Brick's and the DE would have been the LG's.

You really believe we lost that game because of that one play?

Wow.... just wow.

I say the same regarding most of your posts as well.

What was the final score? If that ONE play did not occur, would the Jets have needed ANOTHER TD score to win the game or would they have SUFFICIENTLY won because in the 2nd half they SHUTOUT the Steelers and scored more OFFENSIVE points than the Steelers that ENTIRE game.

Not stopping Antonio Brown on 3rd down in the 4th quarter COST us the game, because I KNOW, as do MOST Jets fans, HAD THERE BEEN MORE TIME, Jets would have scored AGAIN and won b/c the Jets were HOT in the 2nd half.

Go back and do yourself a favor. Sanchez was LIGHTS OUT in those 2 AFCCG. The DEFENSE was the letdown that couldn't get a CRUCIAL STOP WHEN MOST NEEDED to ICE the GAME.

Yeah... mother****er cost a shot at a title.

So did the secondary in 2009 and a blown block by Brick in 2010.

HELL! KEITH FRIGGIN' BYERS and Alex Van fuk'in Lesbian COST us the 1998 10-0 lead in the AFCCG against Denver, Sour grapes much?!?!?!?

That's Jets Football old-timer, I can't hold a grudge that long anymore like some petulant child. Like in life, you have your shots and you BETTER capitalize on them.

I rewatched that game recently and noticed that Gastineau wasn't the only one who roughed the passer on that play.  (I forgot the other guy already but go check it out - the game is on YouTube).  We were still up 10 at that point btw.  And our offense was beyond pathetic that game.  Not saying Gastineau wasn't partly to blame but I do think in retrospect its a bit overdone (I didn't think so until I rewatched the game btw)

No. There was less than a minute and a half left in the half, the Jets were trailing by 17 on 3rd and 17 on their own 26 and Schotty calls a pass play? The smart move would have been to call a run against an overly aggressive defense that blitzed like 70% of the time and try to run the clock out on the half without any more damage.

The next person whose shoulders this falls on is Sanchez, who, if he were a fraction of the QB you seem to dream he is, would have recognized the blitz pre-snap and audibled to a run.

Blaming Brick for that game is like getting caught cheating and reacting by yelling at your wife for looking at your phone.
