Dcat
Giants call "Bulls_it" on Mayfield's agent's claim that the Patriots expressed interest in trading up to #2 to get Mayfield. I'll bet this whole thing was just Mayfield's agent puffing up his client for whatever reason and/or a typical Belichick antic to annoy the Jets for not landing Mayfield. LOL. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/giants’-chris-mara-says-patriots-never-called-to-trade-for-no-2-pick/ar-AAwW39W?ocid=spartandhp Giants’ Chris Mara says Patriots never called to trade for No. 2 pick Kristen Parker 4 hrs agoDeAngelo Hall thinks Texans are Patriots' biggest challenge in AFC Jack Mills may have been stretching the truth. Mills, Baker Mayfield's agent, said the New England Patriots were interested in a trade with the New York Giants for the No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Of course, this was only if Mayfield was not picked at No. 1 by the Cleveland Browns. Andrew Brandt ✔@AndrewBrandt From podcast with Jack Mills, agent for @bakermayfield: "We knew that the Jets at 3 was the bottom line. We had another team that said 'you may get a big surprise on draft day at number two if he is available.' And that team was... the Patriots": http://www.andrew-brandt.com.php56-26.ord1-1.websitetestlink.com/ However, it seems that may not have been a consideration for the Patriots. "That grain of salt is exactly what it is, a grain of salt. It never happened," Giants vice president of player evaluation Chris Mara told SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sport Radio on Friday. Mara said they did get phone calls from teams to make a trade, but "the Patriots weren't one of them." The Patriots did select LSU's quarterback Danny Etling in the seventh round. He was one of their eight draft selections.

Bruce Harper
It was pretty easy to spot that that was a Baker Agent story. Not Belicheat's style. He's going to wait till he finds another GOAT in the 6th round.

Saul Goodman
Of course not lol. The Pats just gave away Garropolo because Brady’s feewings were hurting. Ownership sided with him over Belichick. Why in the world would anyone think that they’d trade up for a QB? And Mayfield, no less, certainly not a fit in NE. Last, New England just wouldn’t make a trade like that. They love their draft picks.
Lupz27
This was Belicheck assuming Mayfield was landing with the Jets, and needed to tell the kid, and the agent whatever it took to get him in for a private visit to get as much intelligence, and scouting on the kid as possible. prime21
Why would they call if Baker was already drafted? Perhaps they intended to call if he were there. You know the Pats aren't having preliminary convos about a trade and risk that news getting out.

Nixhead
If Mayfield was available at #23 I bet the Pats still wouldn't of taken him. You think they would want his personality in camp pushing Brady for playing time. Lol. No way!
Jetsplayer21
Giants are a much more honest and open organization then the pats. Certainly more trust worthy then a lying agent.

He's usually trading down if you check his history over the last 10 drafts or so.

JoJoTownsell1
Wait, so Bellichick, on the verge of another title with Brady (maybe his last), wasn't willing to trade away a boatload of draft picks to move up to take an undersized QB with attitude issues and was once tackled by a police officer on camera? Nah, I am going to believe the agent...

Bleedin Green
I'm not sure if this really tells us much. After all, the same question still stands from when this "news" first broke: who is it that is completely full of sh*t: the Pats, or the agent? Both seem to be pretty likely, so it's a tough call to make.
