The camera work was awful yesterday. It was much better the first week. I don't know how that could possibly be. I could hardly watch last night because of the awful angles.

I agree.

The early game was better.  Probably experimenting.  That experiment was Frankenstein

To me in terms of the broadcasts the best new idea is the live coverage of challenges. It's pretty interesting and brand new I've never seen it before. You like to hear and see the rationale of the officials making the calls. We have recently had ex officials giving opinions but now we can hear it right from the guy making that decision.

It is interesting, but I can't imagine tbe NFL allowing us to hear the officials conversations.

i'm enjoying it. it's obviously not at the level of nfl games but i didnt even come close to expecting that. the teams only had a month to practice and install a system. the players are obviously not at the same level and probably the coahcing isn't as good either. the players aren't making a lot of money and are playing because they love the game and are playing hard because they hope to get a shot. i haven't picked a team yet, and i suppose that is the main thing holding back a lot of people on how much they like it. when you are emotionally invested in the outcome of the games it will suck you in more.

Agree.  Totally  understand that the level of play isn't as high as the NFL, but in all honesty I really enjoy watching it more then NFL games that don't involve the Jets.  The pace of the game is great.  Agree with posters above who didn't like the camera angles of the second game yesterday.  Hope they lose that quick.

IMO after the new CBA,,  when teams come up with a new roster designation for players they control, this league might really take off as a supplement to the NFL.  It would make watching it more exciting if there were players on every team who were under contract to the Jets.

I think they might do it because it is so original and the fans (I think) love it. I do. It also could give fans the reasons for a decision and calm them down if they think their team is getting screwed. Or people who distrust all of them esp refs in terms of cheating (for gamblers---and gambling is now an official part of the game-they allow sponsors like Draftkings etc and some NFL owners have investments in these companies)   http://www.espn.com/chalk/story/_/id/24502023/nfl-owners-robert-kraft-jerry-jones-retain-investments-draftkings-amid-sportsbook-shift  As if they didn't make enough from the public.

Because nfl plays just a tiny fraction of the games all other pro sports play, I think it will do well.. there is no baseball, nba  is boring until playoffs now, hockey? Lol. It’s not March madness yet.. I don’t know how long their season is, but until the March madness and baseball start, many sport fans welcome more semi-pro football..

For the most part you are not regularly seeing big time plays by these receivers. I mean maybe there could be a few Robby Andersons who get a chance to play and show they can be legit NFL playmakers. Guys like Jalin Marshall are capable of making NFL rosters making plays and being contributors. Also the league is good training for backup QBs who rarely might get a chance to play even if on a roster. So far at the QB position no one is standing out but some of them can play. And this experience is invaluable.

And why did the Jets cut Charles Johnson before the regular season started? I though he had a great preseason for the Jets. Not that the Jets needed receivers. He looks pretty good for Orlando and so does Jalin Marshall.

To keep Charone Peake as a gunner.  We had to use two WR roster spots on STers, Roberts & Peake.  Roberts was g but it meant there was not room for Johnson.  Peake and his 3 receptions in the last two years.  SMH.

Well Roberts was a good call. Peake I guess was ok on special teams. Johnson could of really helped us. Orlando Apollo are the NY Jets south. Since I live over here will be going to Orlando Arizona game in a few weeks.

I don't even think Peake is that good of a gunner.  Cannon, at the end of the year was much better IMO

Thing is, if the Jets feel the same way, they could offer him a futures contract today.

Yeah, today's game convinced me.  If Orlando's home next week, I'm going to go

Agree with both of your comments.  Cannon looked solid as gunner.  Roberts was worth a roster spot as a 5th WR and returner. Peake, not so much.  Just don't like using two WR spots on primary STers.  Leaves you with 4 spots for receivers and when one is injured, and another gets cut, well, we saw the result.

Watched the whole game, a few observations.

-Spectacularly sloppy football.  DIII College-level sloppy.

-Christian Hackenberg is the worst QB I have even seen play football.  At any level.  The kid I played with when I was 11 for the Rockville Centre Raiders was better.

-The only thing more sloppy than what was on the field, was the coverage.  You'd think NFL Network had never broadcast anything before.

-Christian Hackenberg is REALLY bad.  LIke "owes me for pain and suffering having to watch him" bad.

-There are ALOT of ex-Jets or ex-Jet Coaches in this minor league.  Makes you think...

-If I owned the Jets, I would literally call Mac right now and fire him for having drafted Christian Hackenberg.

-My new favorite team, the Hotsh*ts, are now 2-0.

-This league has a loooooooong way to go to be a watchable product.

-I absolutely hate the "Nope, not the NFL" camera work, all up close and amataur.  The NFL Camera angle (high up, see the whole field) is best.  Those camera wire- drones up close shots are horrible, can't see whats happening and misses alot of action.

Still, it's football, of a sort.  May watch again next week.  Go Hotsh*ts!

Ryan Leaf and Nathan Peterman are much worse than Hack.

I introduced my dad to the league today and he loved watching this product. The first thing he noted was that the game pace was MUCH faster, the referees weren't that noticeable like in the NFL, and  the hits had some real pop.

The AAF is just making it obvious how buttoned up and lethargic the NFL has become.

You think?

I don't.

Hack is legit bad enough to not only have never taken a single snap in the NFL (both Leaf and Peterman started games), but to have never legitimately taken a snap in the AAF.

Maybe he'll come around with time, but watching his demeanor on the field, I have my doubts.

The AAF made their inaugural debut last weekend and not only did fans turn on their TV’s to watch, they came out to see the games in person. That was escpially true in San Antonio.

The city, which has been thrown around in talks to receive a possible relocation team, had more fans (29,000+) show up to the San Antonio Commanders first home game than the Los Angeles Chargers, yes the NFL team, at any home during their entire 2018 season.

The official attendance for today’s @aafcommanders game @Alamodome is 29,176, which is more than the teams inaugural game last week. Another impressive showing by San Antonio. #TakeCommand #Commanders @TheAAF #KSATsports #KSATnews

In fact, the Commanders churned out 2,000 more than fans than the total capacity of the Stub Hub center, where the Chargers temporarily call home.

Since relocating to LA, Charger home games have had a hard time gaining fans in their new market with the Rams also in town, providing for notoriously hilarious photos of away fans flooding sections of the stadium, like this one…

And this one…

And if that wasn’t enough evidence of how sad Chargers home games have been since the move, consider the Texas high school football class 5A state title game turned out nearly DOUBLE the amount of fans than at the most attended Chargers home game of the 2018-19 season.

Ex-Jets receiver Charles Johnson is becoming a star in AAF

Another former Jet is finding another life in the Alliance of American Football.

Wide receiver Charles Johnson, who was with the Jets last summer, has made himself an early star through the first two games with the Orlando Apollos in the AAF. Johnson grabbed an early record 192 receiving yards in the Apollos’ 37-29 comeback win against the San Antonio Commanders on Sunday.

He also snagged two touchdown passes from former Panthers and University of Texas quarterback Garrett Gilbert.

Johnson, who turns 30 later this month, has 252 receiving yards through the first two games of the AAF’s inaugural season.

He was in Jets camp in 2018, but was cut just before the start of the season. Johnson is best known for his time with the Vikings, as the former seventh-round pick grabbed 475 receiving yards and two touchdowns in his second season, in 2014. He stuck with Minnesota for three seasons, but injuries derailed his promising start.

The AAF has featured many former Jets, including the heroics of ex-quarterback John Wolford and continued struggles of second-round bust Christian Hackenberg.

Johnson did very well in Jets camp last pre season. But he had a few drops and misses that hurt his chances.  He should be on an NFL team for sure.

I really think this league has potential. Anyways, who are we rooting for? I want to be miserable with all of you even some more.

I actually like the fact I'm not partial to ANY team but just ENJOY watching the product on the field.  I've watched every game online via Youtube; it's convenient to watch good football at my leisure since I have no emotional attachment to any of the teams. The style of play is significantly faster than the NFL and the talent isn't as grossly imbalanced as I find college ball to be.

The AAF is going to stick if it maintains the level and speed of play it has shown the first 2 weeks.

With all the former NY Jets players in the AAF the odds are pretty good someone has to be decent.

it's rather disturbing how many former Jets I've counted watching all of the AAF games. You can't blame us for not trying out players & "searching under every rock." :(
