It's very entertaining to me watching all the inveterate gamblers get butthurt because someone doesn't like gambling as much as they do.

Also, investing =/= sports gambling.  If you think they're the same, it's you that I hope doesn't do any investing, lol.

Not butt hurt in any way

just drawing parallels

you are absolutely entitled to your opinion

saying gambling is stupid is fine as long as you fully understand what gambling is and if you truly believe there is a marked difference between markets and gambling - again you are entitled to your opinion

I think there is a huge difference between investing and sports gambling, like I said.

Glad we agree we're entitled to our own opinions on these topics.

Good for you dude.  I hope you win.  Rodgers has a shot to do it.

He has a better shot at either Jeopardy or VP before winning another MVP..

The books started up here in NC in March I believe it was, maybe April.   Anyway, every bonus bet I've been getting, I've been throwing on the Jets to win the Super Bowl.   If they can pull it off, I'm up to about 15 K coming my way.  I will hopefully have this over 20K by the time the season kicks off.   lol

intellectually dishonest to say it's 800-1 odds.

those Bonus bets can be placed on any bet.

I'm putting $10 at risk for a shot at $8,000. That's effectively an 800-1 payout, though it covers two steps (if Paul Skenes doesn't manage at least 5 strikeouts tonight I lose my $5 bet at Fan Duel and don't get the bonus bets to play there, which would suck but still leave me with a 300-1 payout if Rodgers wins the MVP).

This is my dad's favorite Sopranos character. He's also a huge fan of Al, the guy Nicky calls a "lying, lowlife, mother****ing gambling degenerate prick" in Casino. He loves the idea that the one thing that utterly disgusts guys who rob and beat and murder people is a gambling addiction.

I will assume you do not invest in any type of stock market, fund etc because that is gambling

I never heard of anyone investing in a bet on the results of a football game.  Uncertainty of the long term investments in a stock or a basket of stocks isn't at all like betting on sports.  The odds aren't remotely close.

Diff ways of looking at it

if I buy p&g and hold onto it for 30 years, still a gamble however so remote it would not be in the same breath as sports gambling.

if I short Tesla and/ir di so on margin, I’m right there.

daytrading a stock, right there

It's $10 that he's talking about. How many people do you know who can't afford to lose $10 -- whose lives would be noticeably altered for the better if they didn't spend 10 bucks?

If he gets $10 worth of entertainment enjoyment out of it - which he may have enjoyed already - then it's no worse-spent money than tossing a 10-spot on anything else far more forgetful and unnecessary.

There was absolutely a time in my life when that $10 would've been too much. I'm grateful that's no longer the case

P&G does pay a dividend; not a windfall return, but any tangible amount makes it easier to time holding/selling it until a more opportune time so it's not a pure loss in the interim. I mean, so long as they keep paying it lol.

$10 worth of posts!

For the record, if my daughter stopped spending $10 it would probably change our lives.  Not the $10, but that sh*t adds up.  $10 for coffee multiple times a day?  I wouldn't have to throw them out or clean the spills out of the Jeep?  Such an improvement in my life would be immeasurable!

No disagreement.  Akin to spending $10 when the Mega Moobie Millions lottery gets big.  You're paying for the daydream.

The problem is far too few gamblers stick with "$10", and many I know lie like thieves about how much they gamble.

Gambling is just as addictive as other problematic things.  Gamblers ******* up their lives isn't a meme for nothing.

I have no doubt my friend Doggin can afford a $10 bet and then some.  But I know people, personally, who gamble too much and can't afford it, and lie, even to loved ones, about how much they do it.

That and betting on the Jets is just lol, I mean come on.  It's the Jets.

As a parent I like to tell my progeny that $10 was a lot of money once. It's not really true, though, since I'm not 100 years old.

I do remember there were times I put just $5 of gas in the car when I was in high school, which seems a pointless endeavor in retrospect. My excuse is we all used to pay for everything with cash at the time, I might not have had a lot in my wallet in that moment, I had to go to the bank to get more cash from my stupid bankbook at Chemical Bank. But it's that reason; not that it was truly a lot of money, even back then when my sucky minimum wage after-school job paid $3.35/hr. Dad said it built character. I'll go with that.

This is a one-time event, though, not a recurring daily (or multiple time/day) event.

Also yeah, same here. My daughter thinks making coffee at home is something only cavemen might do.

This only works if you don't have accounts with the online sportsbooks already, but both Bet365 and FanDuel are running "get free bonus bet dollars when you join" promotions (Bet365 is an automatic $150 after you bet $5, FanDuel is $200 if you win your first bet of $5 or more). FanDuel has Rodgers at +2500 for MVP; Bet365 has him at +2000. Put all the bonus bets on Rodgers and you're set to win 8K if he gets the MVP, for a risk of $10.

To me, Rodgers is basically the lock MVP if he stays healthy; everyone's already seen what the Jets are without him, so if he has a decent year and we're the top-tier team everyone is predicting, it'll be hard to call him anything but the "most valuable". So I figure what the hell, may as well take a swing.

(BTW, if you're going to sign up for these, please message me for my FanDuel referral code, since we'd both get an extra $50 in bonus bets)

For Bet365 bonus:

"You must be physically located in the state of Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana (permitted parishes only), New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio or Virginia in order to make a deposit or place a bet."

That doesn't mean you have to live in those states, but you must be physically present in one of them to both make the deposit required for the bonus and to place the MVP futures bet.

FanDual in CT is the sports gambling mechanism for Mohegan Sun. You should probably check to see if the bonus applies if you are in CT. I have found that not all FanDual promotions are available to CT betters because of the Mohegan Sun affiliation.

I wouldn't mind so much if she actually drank them.  There are full cups of coffee in every cupholder.

That was the first episode where you really saw Tony how sadistic Tony was. Aside from him admitting to Davey that he let him in the game because he knew he’d be able to rob him, giving the car to Meadow was a serious holy sh*t all-time moment in the show.

I found it helps if you ask nicely and stop trying to strangle it until it vomits all the time.

I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Robert Patrick. He was acting in something that was being filmed at my business (we had many different TV shows filmed at our location over the years.) The actors were using our conference room to change and my office is right next to it. He was walking by and saw the hammerhead shark I had on the wall of my offic and asked me about it. I invited him in and he sat down.

We talked about a bunch of things (he's was big into Harley's and riding) and the topic of the Sopranos came up. I asked him about Gandolfini and he said he was absolutely amazing to work with. He then told me a story about the scene where Tony knocks Dave around. He told me that Gandolfini actually hurt him and he had to tell him to lighten up a bit. He said something to the effect of "He was so into the scene and he just becomes Tony Soprano. I thought he was going to beat the living sh*t out of me!"

It was a really cool conversation and we talked about his other work as well. But the Sopranos story always stucl with me. He was such a nice guy.

Yes.

Of course...a 41 year old, declining QB that hit the wall 2 years, coming off achilles surgery, who hangs out with King Tut instead of his teammates is an absolute lock!

How can anyone miss that.

You’re still desperate, adding another year to his age as if that changes his ability to play.   He missed 2 days of nothing and you think it’s relevant.  What else you got?

Same again. Plus it’s not like I could just drink it myself because she makes them so sweet it’s just disgusting. It’s almost as though…she doesn’t actually like coffee.
