LAD_Brooklyn
Steelers plan to give Russell Wilson first-team reps in preparation to start vs. Jets over Justin Fields. Russell Wilson could be taking the first step toward seeing action in 2024. The Pittsburgh Steelers plan to give Wilson first-team reps in practice this week, putting him in line to make his season debut and start Sunday night against the New York Jets, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported, per sources informed of the situation. Wilson has been dealing with a calf injury that sidelined him before Week 1. He was active for the first time in Week 6 as the backup to Justin Fields. Head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Wilson and Fields will practice this week but didn't tip his hand.
jeremy2020
Seems strange. Fields hasn't been great, but he's been good enough. Hard to not trust Tomlin though.
slimjasi
Ugh, just in time to light up the jets. He's better than Fields, so this is not good news. Feels like a LOSS to me

Fields was really bad this past week. Steelers won because they forced some turnovers and Fields had a pick overturned on a very questionable call. BreeceHallofFame
Fields can tear us up with his legs i prefer to face a rusty wilson

This is what smart teams recognize. Fields has been bad as a passer

But this is more about "we lose Russ for good if we don't start him when healthy and see if he can keep the job" than it's about Fields, IMO. Would be different if Fields was playing so well that you couldn't bench him, but the way he's playing now, Russ would check out if he doesn't get a shot. Feels like a LOSS to me Much worse than Fields for purposes of playing the Jets. We have real trouble with mobile QBs, and Pittsburgh doesn't have the WRs to threaten this secondary, even for Prime Russell Wilson, let alone the broken-down version we've seen the last few years
Barry McCockinner
Hopefully we get MC2 back this week. I think it's safe to count Reed out w/groin.

Bobby816
Word is is that they plan on playing both of them. Hopefully have Carter and Reed healthy for this one.

I still think Fields is pretty bad, but I respect your argument.
Beerfish
This is why Tomlin is a good coach. Sure we are winning but the Qb is playing like trash, if you are not playing well we will get some one better. If Wilson does start this is a huge bonus for the jets though huge.
JiFtheOracle
This is really stupid. Shocked Tomlin is doing this. Jets need to go hard after Fields this offseason.
mrcoops
Nor good news for my fantasy team, where Fields has been very productive at superflex. Might be good news for the Jets, though. I prefer to face a rusty Russ than the scrambling Fields - running QBs usually kill the Jets.
Beaver
This is the game where Russell Wilson will go off and all of the media will claim he is back. Mr Unlimited. All that crap. The after dominating the jets, he will go back to sucking and all will be forgotten.

Trash? lol You're such a disgusting hater its gross, while you slob the nob of the Derek Carr's and Tyler Hundley's of the world If you've watched the Steelers, this is moronic. Fields is carrying that trash offense and Wilson is going to be awful for them.

So that's nice.

JoeNamathsFurCoat
LOL Did Tomlin see what Josh Allen and Bo Nix were able to do with their legs against this slow as molasses, can't tackle for sh-t defense? Trade for Fields if the Steelers now view him as disposable 🤣 This is a gift. Russ's legs are shot.
