CrazyCarl40
When you combine offense and defense it's Youks with Morneau and Tex both a very close second.
Bugg
If Morneau played in NY or Boston he'd be duly acknowledged as the best. No knock on anyone else, simply Morneau is the best.

PFSIKH
I love Youk that bald headed freak and cannot wait until he is back, Morneau is the best.
mbn007
I am impressed with Tex's glove and throwing abilities. After Giambi for 7 years, this is a revelation. I know he will hit, and hit with power too. I took Tex, but can easily see anyone taking Morneau.
Lurker
Perhaps you mean 'baseman'? Or do I have to type it in ALL CAPS?
Otter
I can't stand Youkilis, but I voted for him. He's a great fielder and grinds out at bats. Maybe by the end of the season I'll favor Teixiera, but he hasn't hit well so far. It's nice that the Yankees have a first baseman that can field the position well. Guido Monzino
Bogus MVP though Regardless, the fact that he's the only one on this list that has is reason alone to not make it "shocking". I'd consider it "shocking" if Lyle Overbay was getting votes. But certainly not a guy who has won an MVP and is a perennial candidate for it every year.
