PatriotReign37
Is he that bad? Let me guess? The guy is a disciplinarian who runs a tight ship since Francona had a mini Animal House going on..
JohnnyHector
The guy took a team with a starting OF of Jay Payton, Timo Perez, and Benny Agbayani to the WS. The Sox could've done far worse (like, say, Art Howe, Willie Randolph, or Jerry Manuel).

Morrissey
Ugh. Terrible decision. Pretty obvious your boy Lucchino pushed for this hire. Do not believe Cherington wanted Bobby.

SenorGato
Big fan of Valentine but this sounds like a power hire which...I'm not sure those end well.
Bugg
It's a good hire. Valentine is bright and energetic. Question is whether veterans wil be able to deal with his intense attitude over a long season. Also by the end of his tenure with the Mets fundamentals began to slip. But that could've simply been function of the talent he was given than of him. Will be fun to see him return fire at the musings of the various Boston media hacks. He genuinely is the smartest baseball guy in the room.He may not wear well, but for a while expect Valentine will do a good job. PFSIKH
I like it, mostly because sux fans don't. I like it. I am glad we did not get a noob like Sveum. A guy that dealy with NY should have no problems in Boston. Francona and his type of leadership is good when there are enough leaders in the club house, but it is clear there are not or not enough. It might and will probably implode eventually, but the team needed a change because most had tuned out Francona.
JonEJet
Love the hire 1. Because Cherington didn't want the guy. 2. Because Lyin' Larry runs the show there.
Garb
Love the hire 1. Because Cherington didn't want the guy. 2. Because Lyin' Larry runs the show there. So true, so sad and pathetic and true. Lucchino will run the Red Sox into the ground. Watch. And someone please explain this Lucchino is a great Baseball mind thing. Most people hate him, he sucks at negotiating, his communication skills blow and his PR skills are a freakin joke. This whole off-season has been a cluster-eff...unless neutering your GM is considered a successful off-season. So, Lyin' Larry get's his bud Valentine - against the wishes and due dilligence of the new GM - this will not end well. The circus has taken permanent residence at Fenway and it will stay that way until Mo (Lucchino) Larry (Werner) and Curly (Henry) get the heck out of Boston. I'll trade you Lucchino, Henry, and Werner for Fred and Jeff Wilpon. We'll even send back Jason Bay to even things out. Deal?

CrazyCarl40
At least it is only a two year deal. Farrell will be done with the Jays in two years. Makes sense.

Why is it that seemingly all MLB team presidents are power hunrgy megalomaniacal morons? I shudder to think of the Yankees with that dickhead Randy Levine exerting the kind of authority Lucchino currently seems to have.
