T0mShane
Welker had more catches for more yards than any two Jet receivers combined this year. Consider how much the Jets are paying that gutless fungus Holmes next season and consider that Welker more than doubled his output this year. PatriotReign37
http://www.sbnation....ngland-patriots rewarding him for his drop with more money?????? The tag is being used to control his rights and work out a contract if possible. If not, teams can pony up picks to NE.

New York Mick
http://www.sbnation....ngland-patriots rewarding him for his drop with more money?????? I'm guessing they're paying him for the 500 plus catchs, 5000 plus yards and 30 plus TDs he's had in the last 5 years instead of dropping a ball that was poorly thrown and very hard to catch. GronkWelkHead
But he wasn't Holmes money. Welker will be. Pretty sure the Pats are $15-20 million under the cap so they can afford a bump for Welker plus go out and get a prime FA or two.
JetsFanInDenver
I think its deserved payday for Welker. On the other hand, i am seriously hoping someone passes a doobie or two to Holmes!

sg3
Welkers franchise tag number based on the above projection will cost the Pats nearly 10 million of their available salary cap http://boards.atlantafalcons.com/topic/3941711-2012-projected-of-franchise-tags/
GronkWelkHead
So I guess they're letting Vince Wilfork walk? Didnt they tag him last year? Nope. They gave Wilfork a 5 year extension 2 years ago making him the highest paid NT in the league. As to Welker's effect on the Patriot's cap, they are $20 million under the cap before they make any cuts or adjustments. They have plenty of $$$ to add $5M to Welker's salary.
