Broncos "95%" likely to sign Manning

Vic Lombardi of CBS 4 Denver reports that the Broncos are now "95 percent sure" they will sign free agent Peyton Manning after he reached out to the team late Sunday night.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter also updated their Sunday night story to report that it's "highly unlikely" Manning will decide on a new team by Tuesday's 4PM ET commencement of free agency. So while the Broncos may believe Manning will sign with them, it doesn't sound like the move is imminent, and he's still in thought collection mode. Sources confirmed to Mort and Schefter that the Broncos and Cardinals are the two "favorites" to sign Manning. After a draining few days since his release from the Colts, Peyton is reportedly now "anxious to get some rest and return to his rehab and throwing regimen." Mort and Schefter also confirm a Denver Post report that the Seahawks and Chiefs are "no longer contenders" to sign Manning.

Broncos or Cardinals...either one works for the Jets. As long as it isn't Miami.

The Broncos are a good fit, with that defense, they will be scary.

They have some nice young skill players there as well and dont be surprised if they break the remainder of the bank surrounding Peyton with even more talent on offense since the defense is solid. Look for them to sign Reggie Wayne and possibly go after a back in the draft who can be a pass receiving threat out of the backfield ...You know just like the Jets do. :)

it should be noted that Peyton seems to prefer playing in midwestern or southern locations. Miami with it's Cuban population and Arizona with their Mexicans, that's too "urban" for Peyton. He needs to be surrounded totally by white people or he loses his power. Hence, Denver.

Did you just subtlety call Peyton Manning a racist that cant live with diverse cultures?

If he doesn't want to play for the Jets I say F Manning, F the Broncos, and especially a Big F to Elway.

No way. Gene Smith traded up for Gabbert and passed on Tebow. He's ride or die with Gabbert.

Tebow's going to demand a trade if the Broncos sign Manning and they'll gladly give it to him. Can you think of a team that would be willing to give up more than the Jags? Shahid Khan wants to make a marketing splash. Tebow does that for him. Khan and Mularkey have no stake in Gabbert. Smith will do as he's told.

nah just joking. He's not a racist but I do think that Peyton in NYC would have been a ridiculously bad fit. This guy is from Louisiana, went to college in Tennessee, played his whole career in Indy. At what point did he ever seem like he'd want to be in NYC?

You're nuts. Gene Smith runs the team. Shahid Khan is an auto-parts dealer, he knows nothing about Football. Could you imagine the backlash? Take what John Fox went through with the city of Denver times it by a 1,000 and you'd have literally the worst situation in Football. A new Owner, a new HC with a 2nd year QB they traded up for and the entire city calling for Tebow to play. It would literally cripple the organization.

100% chance the Jags dont trade for Tebow.

Tebow to JAX fills their biggest need....putting asses in the seats. :winking0001:

FWIW - In 2010, the Jaguars had the biggest increase in season ticket holders in the league. Last year, in total, more people attended Jags games than Steelers games.

Tebow = excitement.

That's what Shahid Khan wants.

Tebow =QB controversy like the league has never seen before. Thats not what a new owner wants and thats not what a new HC wants and thats not what Gene Smith wants.

If Gene Smith wanted Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow would be on the Jags.

Gene Smith is the worst GM in football. He was retained this year to ease Shahid Khan's entrance into the league. If the Broncos sign Manning, Tebow will be a Jag - book it.

BTW, I was the first person to tell you Manning would be a Bronco.

Tebow's gonna demand a trade if the Broncos sign Manning and Elway will be more than happy to give him one.

He's more valuable to the Jags than anyone else. The Jags will be willing to give Denver a 2nd rounder for him. It's all about making a splash son.

more than Manning does.

bit, Elway is getting Manning for two reasons - 1. He's Peyton freakin' Manning and a huge upgrade over what they had.; 2. This is his perfect opportunity to rid himself of Tebow without suffering any fan backlash.

If Manning becomes a Bronco, Tebow's Denver career is over.

Tebow's not going to demand anything. Thats not in the kids nature. He'll be a good citizen and learn from one of the greatest of all time. In fact, he'd probably love that opportunity.

The Jags will not trade for him. The club doesnt want that type of hysteria. If you think Denver fans were relentless about him starting, imagine Jax. And the situation is totally different. The Broncos had the a complete pos at QB, the Jags have a baby QB they traded up for just last season. They are not going to bring in a polarizing figure like Tebow to deal with that situation for the next 4 years.

The Jags are committing to Gabbert, its why they didnt put their name in for the Manning sweepstakes. Trading for Tebow is literally the worst thing they could do to the kid.

Besides, Peyton's health isnt guaranteed. Denver will want Tebow just in case.

Shahid Khan and Mike Mularkey have absolutely nothing invested in Blaine Gabbert. What makes you think the Jags keep Gabbert if they get Tebow?

Probably because there isnt a market for Gabbert and they wont recoup the value they'll spend on Tebow or what they spent on Gabbert.

You dont run a franchise that way. Smith most certainly doesnt run a franchise that way. There is zero chance the Jags trade for Tebow. If the Jags wanted him, he'd be a Jag.

Gabbert is their QB for the future. They've invested in him and will spend this offseason building around him.
