Bleedin Green
His health has been a complete mess these past few years hasn't it? Depending on how he's doing now, he might be work a look. After all, at this point the Jets are really just looking for complementary pieces at TE not necessarily full time guys, particularly since it sounds like Keller should be just fine. He is probably as healthy as he has been in awhile. More a case of Fred Davis being that much better and younger. Hell so far so good with Landry. We need a tight end. Almost a no brainer at about the vet min. ? Could catch and block. They had him playing fullback in the pre-season.
Ranick10
@BrianCoz Not sure if Cooley makes sense for the Jets. Reading the reports our of Washington he wants to be a starter, that led to him being cut. #nyj

Well he started off in Washington as an H-Back, which is what they just lost in Baker, so it would certainly make sense.

Reading the reports our of Washington he wants to be a starter, that led to him being cut. #nyj Is there any team out there who's really going to sign him now to start right now? The Jets may be able to offer him as good of a chance to play as anyone. Hell, just look at Cotchery, he bitched his way off of the Jets because he was going to be the #3 WR and the best offer he got was to be the Steelers' #5 WR. If the Jets sell Cooley on the two-TE set being their base set and him starting in that, it could be something. Not to mention as an H-back he could also easily take Conner's spot in the starting lineup (if not on the team, if the Jets really are unhappy with him). Plus they could also point out to him how Keller's in the last year of his deal. Who knows.

bitonti
considering they trotted Dedrick Epps out there, it's safe to say cooley is an instant upgrade. one small point they are probably looking for a blocker, not another 240 pound receiver like Keller. But ya know what they say about beggars being choosers.

Il Mostro
Cooley woulod be a great depth/insurance signing. Although he looks like Keller size-wise, he is a better blocker.

SenorGato
They tried the whole "just a blocker" thing with studs like Hartstock and Mulligan...Cooley would be a nice change from that.

Since Conner has turned out to be "The Terminator" in name only, one signing to help at two positions is a no brainer. That is, if he wants to play. Sounds like he might actually be mulling over retirement rather than play for another team.
Darrellegivesmeaboner#24
We need to sign another TE. I don't really love theis Cooley idea though...I would much rather wait and see if Visanthe Shiancoe gets released first. He has shown more the past couple of years and is a better run blocker. Greenseed4
Didn't Sparano compare Baker's skills to those of Cooley? ...and now Baker is hurt, and Cooley is available? ...am I missing something, why isn't he signed already?
Jetsfan80
Yeah Cooley would pretty much be the perfect week-before-the-season signing. Cumberland is awful, Baker is hurt, and we need to run more 2-TE sets with a pair of legit receiving TE's.

Stonehands
Cooley is really what you would hope Baker would become some day. Similar sizes, similar skill sets. If his knee is healthy (and Shanahan said it is) then he is a good pick up.
