If you're John Idzik, what does your initial Big Board look like?

For our purposes, we'll go with a Top 75, since that would just about cover the Jets' first four picks (# 18, # 49, # 69, # 80).  Here's mine:

1.  Teddy Bridgewater, QB (1), Louisville

       * Most polished QB in the draft.  Accurate and smart with a great attitude.  What's not to like?

2.  Jadeveon Clowney, DE (1), South Carolina

      * With the QB's after Bridgewater all having major question marks, Clowney fits in here.

3.  Blake Bortles, QB (2), UCF

      * Hesitant to put a redshirt Junior this high, but a Sanchez he is not.  Completed 63 % of his throws in '12 and 68 % in '13.

4.  Mike Evans, WR (1), Texas A&M

     * At 6-5, has the size the Jets need out of a future WR1.  Not a burner but his hands make up for this negative attribute.

5.  Zach Mettenberger, QB (3), LSU

     * If Mettenberger falls far due to his ACL tear he may end up being the steal of the draft for the Jets.  I like him better than the         other prospects who may be left on the board.

6.  Sammy Watkins, WR (2), Clemson

     * Explosive playmaker worthy of being a WR1 for most teams.

7.  Marquise Lee, WR (3), USC

8.  Brett Hundley, QB (4), UCLA

    * Still a work in progress, but the Jets hopefully won't be looking to start a rookie QB right away even if they snag one in the 1st round.  STAYING IN SCHOOL

9.  Anthony Barr, OLB (1), UCLA

     * Regardless of what "look" the Jets D will have going forward, there's a need for athletic linebackers.  Barr fits the bill.

10.  Derek Carr, QB (5), Fresno State

     * His bowl loss to USC will drop his stock, but he's still a top 10 prospect and will be drafted as such.

11.  Johnny Manziel, QB (6), Texas A&M

     * I have my doubts with Manziel's future as a pro prospect, putting outside by top 5 QB list.

12.  Eric Ebron, TE (1), UNC

     * Physical freak who will create mismatches all day.  Perfect safety blanket for Geno or whichever young QB the Jets choose in this draft.

13.  Jace Amaro, TE (2), Texas Tech

     * Great consolation prize if Ebron is gone.  Produced better numbers than Ebron in '13.

14.  Jake Matthews, OT (1), Texas A&M

15.  Marcus Roberson, CB (1), Florida

      * Would start a riot in Florham Park if actually selected, but if drafting BAP is the call, you could do worse with Roberson.

16.  Kelvin Benjamin, WR (4), Florida St

17.  Khalil Mack, OLB (2), Buffalo

18.  Tajh Boyd, QB (7), Clemson

     * Very short and has displayed accuracy issues.  Still a late-1st round prospect who may be a steal in the 2nd round.

19.  Haha Clinton-Dix, S (1), Alabama

20.  Greg Robinson, OT (3), Auburn

21.  CJ Mosely, OLB (3), Alabama

22.  Taylor Lewan, OT (4), Michigan

23.  Louis Nix, DT (1), Notre Dame

24.  Gabe Jackson, OG (1), Mississippi St

25. Ra'Shede Hageman, DT (2), Minnesota

26.  Vic Beasley, OLB (4), Clemson

27.  Justin Gilbert, CB (2), Oklahoma St

28.  Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE (3), Washington

29.  Timmy Jernigan, DT (3), Florida St

30.  Daequeze Dennard, CB (3), Michigan St

31.  Aaron Colvin, CB (4), Oklahoma

32.  La'el Collins, OG (2), LSU

33.  Kevin Hogan, QB (8), Stanford

34.  Melvin Gordon, RB (1), Wisconsin

35.  Jaelen Strong, WR (6), Arizona St

36.  Stephon Tuitt, DT (4), Notre Dame

37.  Odell Beckham, Jr., WR (5), LSU

      * Another burner who would fit in nicely as a future WR1/WR2 for the Jets.

38.  Allen Robinson, WR (6), Penn St

39.  Marcel Jensen, TE (4), Fresno St

40.  Cyril Richardson, OG (3), Baylor

41.  Trent Murphy, OLB (5), Stanford

42.  Dion Bailey, S (2), USC

43.  Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB (5), Oregon

44.  Loucheiz Purifoy, CB (6), Florida

45.  Cameron Erving, OT (5), Florida St

46.  Antonio Richardson, OT (6), Tennessee

47.  Cyrus Kouandijo, OT (7), Alabama

48.  Ryan Shazier, OLB (6), Ohio St

49.  Demarcus Lawrence, OLB (7), Boise St

50.  Christian Jones, ILB (1), Florida St

51.  Jordan Matthews, WR (7), Vanderbilt

52.  Ka'Deem Carey, RB (2), Arizona

53.  Jimmy Garoppolo, QB (9), Eastern Illinois

54.  Anthony Johnson, DT (5), LSU

55.  Stephen Morris, QB (10), Miami

56.  AJ McCarron, QB (11), Alabama

57.  Bishop Sankey, RB (3), Washington

58.  Kony Ealy, DE (3), Missouri

59.  Trent Murphy, DE (4), Stanford

60.  Jarvin Landry, WR (8), LSU

61.  Zack Martin, OG (2), Notre Dame

62.  CJ Fiederowicz, TE (4), Iowa

63.  Travis Swanson, C (1), Arkansas

64.  Bradley Roby, CB (7), Ohio St

65.  Jason Verrett, CB (8), TCU

66.  Deone Bucannon, S (3), Washington St

67.  Calvin Pryor, S (4), Louisville

68.  Lache Seastrung, RB (4), Baylor

69.  Arthur Lynch, TE (5), Georgia

70.  Brandon Coleman, WR (10), Rutgers

71.  Josh Huff, WR (11), Oregon

72.  Jared Abbrederis, WR (12), Wisconsin

73.  James Hurst, OT (10), UNC

74.  Paul Richardson, WR (13), Colorado

75.  Xavier Su'a-Filo, OG (5), UCLA

I like Zach, but if he falls to #5 ?   I figured he was 3rd rd

I also like Mettenberger.  No way he's  #5 on anybodies board.  Best case scenario for him is late first.   Most likely mid second.   Could fall to 3rd if the knee really scares people but I doubt it

Is there a QB that might be available at 18 that you could guarantee would beat out Geno?

Absolutely 100%:

AJ McCARRON would absolutely dominate Geno.

Aaron Murray, if healthy absolutely can beat out Geno

Mettenberg, if Healthy also could

Boyd could not

Garrapolo. maybe.

My guarantee at 18 to beat out Geno is AJ McCARRON.

I did, and I also remember watching GENO in the Pinstripe bowl, and saying to myself,"God help the Jets if they draft this bum"

McCarron is a winner, a leader, from a pro-style offense who would be head and shoulders above Geno.

Do I want McCarron? NO, I want Teddy or Johnny Jet, but that wasnt the question was it?

I liked Bortles when he was like, a 2nd-3rd round pick. Not sure about him in the 1st though. Also, Mettenberger is a big, dumb goon who's about one step ahead of Tyler Bray on the evolutionary ladder.

sounds like i28

Best part of AJ McCarron is his girl friend, heck she looks bigger then him, his arm strength makes Chad Pennington look like Dan Marino.

I'd sooner go BAP then reach for anyone, even if Geno isn't the guy is still get weapons now worry about a QB later.

Did you see Andy Dalton with all those weapons?

The Weapons argument is completely torn down by Andy Dalton. You still better have a guy slinging it who has a clue, otherwise all those 4.3 guys will be making tee times really quickly as shown yesterday.

I think Idzik's big board should look like a giant dry erase board.  There should be magnetic pre-printed names can be moved around if needed, but dry erase so they can hand-write someone in later that maybe the printer forgot to write (or if they spelled the name wrong). I'm thinking it should be at least 20 feet wide and 8 feet tall.  But the bigger the better.  Also I'm partial to a stained hardwood for the frame, but I suppose aluminum trim would work just as well.  A long tray at the bottom for markers and erasers would be a plus.

Not sure how big would fit in the draft room, but this thread is about what his initial big board should look like.

After watching every single Gators game for as long as I can remember, I dont get how Roberson is rated over Purifoy.

That said, both are absolute studs, who will be great at the next level, who are perfect for Rex's defense.

I'm probably the minority but I think CB should be a priority, especially if Cro's is cut.  These 2, fit perfectly and might have better value than the available WR's at 18.

Copy cat league.  We need innovation.  Like carbon fiber and velcro!

Do your Gators have any QB's that could beat out a 65 QBR rated QB?
