My Bet with Raiderholic.... What do you think?

Raiderholic and I have a bet over which team (Jets or Raiders) will have the best QBR at seasons end. Carr for Oakland and whichever  Jets QB plays the majority of games( I'm thinking the Amish Rifle ). So if Geno plays 6 games and Fitz plays 10 games, I would use Fitz QBR.

Stakes.... An official NFL Nike Jersey of whatever player the winner wants. For me it will be Leonard Williams I think.

Raiderholics terms that I agreed to:

"Okay we have a bet. whichever team Qb by season end( who has played majority games, or in case only if your team have started equal number of games where Take the higher Qb rating ) has the better Qb rating will be the winner"

I'm thinking that Fitz will be the starter by week 4 at the latest. Jet "D" will give the "O" a lot of short fields and a lot of opportunities this season. Oakland "D" will still give up a lot of points and have the Carr needing to score a lot of points. He is better than Geno and probably equal to Fitz at this juncture of there intersecting career paths.... one moving up the other on a slight downward trend.

Raiderholic is foolish if he lets you use the smaller sample (assuming Fitz get >8 starts). That said, I like Carr, but DelRio is bone stupid.

DelRio should never of had another shot at a head coaching job. I mean the Jaguars are terrible but losing him made the Jags slightly less pathetic

You are either a bold or rich man ... Hope you win though

Neither.... but $120 won't kill me.... and it certainly will spice up the season.

Maybe if Raiderholic agrees to never post here again I might let him off the hook when I win!

I'm sure you'd ALL agree to that one.  :winking0001:

It's an interesting bet.  I think both QBs should see an increase in their stats this year (I think Geno plays more than Fitzpatrick) so it'll be interesting to see how things play out.  They have a good WR core now as well (assuming Crabtree can function as a No. 3), and I do think they limited him last year with his throws down the field.  Cooper should open that up, which hikes his stats.  I think it'll be pretty close.  Obviously, as a Jets fan, rooting for Geno, but I love Cooper and thinks he makes a huge difference in an offense.

Jmo I think M Crabtree will be almost as big addition to the Raiders offense as Amari Cooper. ( I think he will start opposite Cooper)There was a stat outside of the nine route -only route he ran that was below average , M Crabtree graded out above average to excellent on all the other routes in 2014. The big difference between Crapernick and Carr is that Crapernick will wait till the Wr is open , while Carr will throw it to get the Wr open. ( has two excellent route runners in Cooper and Crabtree). Rod streater 6'3 200 / Brice Butler 6'3 215 4.36 will be the third receiver. All the Raiders first four Wr can play any Wr position.( inside or out)

The Raiders have so much they can do on offense now - They can line up so many different formations to attack a defense. Like can go multiple Te formations - Clive Walford ( block and catch )- has impressed the Raiders already( another big addition to the offense). Te Lee Smith( blocking specialist - who can catch a short pass, but more there for his blocking. Mychal Rivera - more pass catcher than a blocker. ( could line up at H- Back more than Te). Marcel Reece healthy this year is capable of lining up at Te, H- Back or Rb.

Now look at the Rb's who all are very good receivers . ( Latavius Murray , Trent Richardson, Roy Helu, Marcel Reece, and Taiwan jones The Fb position is gone as Raiders will run a lot of single back.

The raiders will look to really spread a defense out and want to play uptempo offense( will play a lot of no huddle). The Jets defense lineman better be in shape because there isn't going to be a lot of chance to substitute their personnel.

In Chan do I trust!!

vs.

Bill Musgrave and DelRio

The Oakland Raiders have named Bill Musgrave their new offensive coordinator.

Editor's Picks

Musgrave joins new head coach Jack Del Rio's staff after spending the 2014 season as the Philadelphia Eagles' quarterbacks coach.

Musgrave has previous ties to the Raiders organization having begun his coaching career there as quarterbacks coach in 1997. He also has previously served as Del Rio's offensive coordinator in Jacksonville from 2003-04.

The 47-year-old Musgrave will inherit an offense featuring second-year quarterback Derek Carr that finished last in the league in total yards, yards per game and rushing yards per game during a 3-13 season.

Musgrave last was an offensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings from 2011-13.

In addition to Musgrave, former Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman was identified as a candidate to take over Oakland's offense.

I hate you, but a lot of what you said was true. If I lose this bet, just call me the Mush from now on. This looks like a slam dunk bet for me( that has me worried- more my past), and have to assume the percentage are in my favor.( can't lose another bet- only thing been perfect on.)

This bet looks as sure of thing as having a boat load of money in a whore house .

Btw before this bet, I would have probably done a bet which team player ( individual) has more sack in 2015. I think Khalil Mack is set up to have a monster year getting to the Qb in 2015. The scheme which I'm guessing Seattle type of 4-3 under is going to get him matchup up a lot of times on the Te having to block him. (Don't think there is a Te that can win that matchup)

Of the 30 guys you named, I recognize 3. I don't think The No Name Offense is gonna produce like you hope.

I think you're allowing your disgust of Geno cloud your judgment.

If Carr finished last season with a 38 QBR and Geno finished with a 35, why am I guaranteed to lose? Both teams upgraded offensively.

Add to that we have a solid backup in Fitzpatrick who will be inserted quickly as the starter if Geno sucks,

Fitzpatrick had a QBR of 55 last year and most likely will play the majority of games.

So actually my bet is conceivably Carr vs. Fitzpatrick. Oakland has a tougher schedule and they had a worse record than the Jets last year.

Are you expecting Oakland to make the jump to 9-7 this year w/ Denver, San Diego and KC in their division?

Their "D" was last in takeaways(Jets 29), 21st in Total "D"(Jets 6th) and gave up 120/game rushing.

Offensively, Oakland avg. 77 yds/rushing a game while Jets avg. 142 last year.

There are other factors that play a part in the success of your QB.

I think Fitz, with the addition of Marshall and Smith and a GREAT Jets "D" allow our Qb. to have a solid season.

qbr is a ******* stupid stat

I agree.

Well, how would you have us determine who had a better year? Yds. TD's, completions, Turnovers//

You got something better.... please elaborate.

I wouldn't base a bet on some secret, proprietary, highly controversial formula. The Jets good defense could backfire on you, and Carr will get credit for moving the football when his team is behind. Which will probably be often. I knew what ESPN claimed their QBR was, but I just read the wiki on it this morning (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_Quarterback_Rating) and have less respect than ever for a statistic I've been ignoring....

Further controversy erupted when the Total QBR system gave the Denver Broncos' Tim Tebow a higher rating than the Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers in their respective Week 5 contests in 2011. Noting that Rodgers completed 26 of 39 passes for 396 yards and two touchdowns in a win over the Atlanta Falcons, while Tebow completed four of 10 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown, and six rushes for 38 yards and a touchdown, in a loss to the San Diego Chargers, Mike Florio of Profootballtalk.com wrote that he'll "continue to ignore ESPN’s Total QBR stat."[13] Rodgers himself was surprised: "I saw the [QBR stats] and chuckled to myself. I played a full game, [Tebow] played the half. He completed four passes, I completed 26. I think it incorporates QB runs as well ... The weighting of it doesn't make a whole lot of sense."[14] ESPN's Stats and Information Group explained that Tebow's higher rating was the result of him staging a partial comeback, taking no sacks, and having positive rushing yards and a rushing touchdown, among other factors.

Lol.

Lol I agree......you'd be better off going passer rating. You could still lose, but at least that Stat doesn't factor in fumbles (which Geno and Fitz have been known to have trouble with).

Good luck

Hmmmmmm! Perhaps Raiderholic and I should find a better way of measuring our QB's performance. We didn't specifically agree on what site to use....

I think a lot of it will come down to common sense. However, there should be a specific point of reference in case things are close.

Can the board offer some quality sites that the 2 combatants can agree on? What would you suggest Slats?
