6- New York Jets: Mitch Trubisky, QB, UNC

If any team wants to trade up for the No. 6 pick, Jets GM Mike Maccagnan is listening. With how bad this roster is, the more picks the better.

But if the Jets keep the pick, I think they'll take Mitch Trubisky. Maccagnan had some interesting comments about their quarterback situation during his pre-draft presser on Monday. I think he knows his seat is warm. It's unlikely the Jets compete for the playoffs next year. But if he drafts a quarterback, and said rookie quarterback has some success, it could save both him, and coach Todd Bowles.

Ok, I accept that, but then why trade up to get him later? If you love Garrett and are lukewarm on Trubisky, take Garrett #1 and just stay at 12

Because if you have the chance to take the best player in the draft AND take a QB you like, are you really gonna sit and hope he falls to you? Especially when you have the ammo to get both.

They might.  Reports are the owner wants Trubisky (local guy i.e. Tix $$). So...trading up to get him makes everyone happy.

On advice of teams at Combine recheck, Bama S Eddie Jackson had screw causing discomfort removed from his surgically repaired leg yesterday

Following the procedure, #Bama S @EJackson_4 will be available for all football activity, including rookie mini camp. Minor work done.

Patrick Mahomes.

This team source said that he heard over the weekend that the 49ers would take Mahomes at No. 2 overall. Some believe Mahomes to be the best quarterback prospect in this class, so if San Francisco shares that opinion, Mahomes would be just as logical of a selection as Trubisky.

Quarterbacks - mainly Trubisky, but also Deshaun Watson and now Mahomes - have been rumored to San Francisco, and understandably so, given the team's dire need for a quarterback. Taking a signal-caller would block the potential of signing Kirk Cousins, but the 49ers would have a concrete quarterback to build around for certain.

I would be bummed if this happened.

Pretty good draft, but Howard to the Chargers? I know Gates is old and injury prone at this point, but Henry showed he could be legit. Chiefs  going for Webb in the first is pretty crazy too.

This insider (Dave TE Thomas) was on a Giants board posting some info/tidbits he's been hearing from teams around the league (including the Jets) as it pertains to the draft. Take it for what it's worth though of course...

Jets
- Talking with trade with the Panthers and Bengals, as both are jockeying for Leonard Fournette. Both are offering a 1st, 2nd, and more.
- Jets want Pat Mahomes, but not in the Top 10. Will look to move further down for him
- If the Jets get extra picks, look for Raekwon McMillan in the 3rd. They love him, and believe he could slide in immediately and play next to Darron Lee (meaning the end of David Harris)
- Don't believe Wesley Johnson is their answer at C, looking at Ethan Pocic and Pat Elflein in the 2nd/3rd

Packers
- Like Sidney Jones, but they like Kevin King alot more (even Jones' injury)
- Have King ranked 3rd on their list of Top CBs, behind Gareon Conley and Marlon Humphrey
- Looking at big RBs, love D'onta Foreman
- Look for Utah's G Ike Asiata no later than Round 3

49ers
- Looking trade out of the #2 spot and stockpile picks. Have spent alot of time talking to the Browns, who have a ton of 2nd rounders
- Like Cam Robinson, and he may be the pick after they've finished moving around the board
- Look for Joe Mixon in the Late 1st or Early 2nd

Eagles
- Only team that has a 1st round grade on Dalvin Cook. If they don't take him at #14, expect Cook to slide to the 2nd

Steelers
- Love Jabrill Peppers, and if he's still available he will be the pick at #30
- If Peppers is off the board by 30, their fallback options are Quincy Wilson and Jarrad Davis
- Extremely interested in Youngstown edge rusher Derek Rivers. Look for him to be the pick in the 2nd round if available
- Big Ben is lobbying for a TE, and Adam Shaheen is the guy they want in the 3rd. He might not be available for them at that spot though.
- If no Shaheen, they may go CB in the 3rd. Look out for Rasul Douglas and Corn Elder

Giants
- They're serious about picking a QB early. Taking a hard look at Davis Webb in the 2nd
- Really like Cam Robinson, but he most likely won't make it to #23
- Like Forrest Lamp, and believe he would be a better fit at LT even though most teams are projecting him inside at G (ala Brian Baluga)
- Have a glaring need at LB, but are lukewarm on Zach Cunningham. Hassan Reddick makes the most sense, but he'll be off the board by then
- Dion Dawkins and Derek Rivers are in play for the 2nd round
- Very high on TJ Watt and Demarcus Walker
- Taking hard looks at Tyus Bowser and Tanoh Kpassagnon for Round 2
- Look out for DT Dalvin Tomlinson in the 2nd

If those teams are willing to give up a second rounder and more wouldn't they just trade with the Titans who everyone knows wants to trade down? This is on top of the fact Fournette is likely to be taken by the Jaguars or even 49ers.

If they want Mahomes they actually cant trade much out of the top 10 to get him since there is a good chance the Cardinals will take him.

Seems like he is guessing about Wesley Johnson "don't believe" which puts into question everything else he is saying. Is this actually inside info or just educated guesses?

Dave TE Thomas has been a scout for a very long time. Plus he's done alot of draft articles in the past and consulted teams when it comes to their draft boards.

He's definitely plugged in

I am all for the Cleveland, caroina or ciny traded downs.

I would just hate it if the jets drafted Humphreys, Paradis likes the guy but I am totally unimpressed.

I can't believe we will go after mahommes.

The jets want to draft a large cover safety in the 3rd round to be who Lee was supposed to be, make sense.  Lee and this guy as our ilbs and we'll get run stomped.

Steelers Gauging Interest in DeShone Kizer

Updated April 25, 2017
By Charlie Campbell. Follow Charlie on Twitter @draftcampbell.

For weeks now, Walter and I have had the Steelers taking Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer in the first round of our 2017 NFL Mock Drafts. Weeks ago, sources told us that the Steelers were high on Kizer.

In the final days before the draft, WalterFootball.com has learned from team sources that Steelers have been asking around to other teams, trying to gauge where Kizer could be drafted and who could be interested in taking him. Pittsburgh has to start planning for the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger and it sounds as though Kizer is viewed as their developmental starter in waiting while Roethlisberger finishes out his career.

There are scouts around the league who feel that Kizer has the best skill set and most athletic upside of any quarterback in the 2017 NFL Draft. He had an inconsistent junior season, as he completed 59 percent of his passes for 2,925 yards with 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also ran for seven touchdowns. His completion percentage was thrown off by playing a game in the midst of Hurricane Matthew and his receivers consistently dropping well-thrown passes. Kizer played better as a sophomore when he had more talent around him like a top-25 wide receiver in Will Fuller), a top-10 pick at left tackle in Ronnie Stanley, a second-round center in Nick Martin, and a third-round running back in C.J. Prosise. In 2015, Kizer completed 63 percent of his passes for 2,884 yards with 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He picked up 520 yards with 10 scores on the ground.

The Steelers have tried to be discrete with their vetting of Kizer with offensive coordinator Todd Haley at the Notre Dame pro day rather than a big contingent of general manager, head coach, and other top executives. However, teams have told WalterFootball.com that Pittsburgh has revealed some nerves about Kizer not getting to their pick as they've asked around the league where he might go and what teams are interested in taking him.

Kizer (6-4, 233) is almost identical in size to Roethlisberger (6-4, 240) with both possessing a strong arm to go with mobility and athleticism in a big body. The Steelers could develop Kizer behind Roethlisberger for a year or two before turning the reigns over. Roethlisberger started talking about retirement at the end of the 2016 season, so Pittsburgh wants to be proactive about securing the future of the most important position on the team. They want to hit the ground running with their new quarterback and not miss out on prime years of great offensive weapons like Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown, who could lead Pittsburgh to the Super Bowl. After falling short in the AFC Championship Game last year, the Steelers have a talented roster without a lot of starting positions open for competition. Thus, they can afford to use a first-round pick on a quarterback of the future similar to how Green Bay selected Aaron Rodgers during the final years of Brett Favre's Packer career. In speaking to league sources, it sounds like Kizer is the player that Steelers are targeting in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

They are just trying to scare teams into trading up to #2 so they can get a hall of picks... Fournette is the pick they don't trade out.

If that is what jets fans want then they have been getting what they deserve over the last 40 years.  Excitement for me is winning, long term.  Taking a QB this year imo is short sighted and stupid.  Just my opinion.

Again... The team is trying to sell tickets... There is no excitement... its not what I want... or what it seems you want... but that means nothing to the team. Mahomes is the pick hence why they want to trade back.... @Obrien2Toon is helping reaffirm my assumption. I am just putting the pieces together...

- They are desperate to trade back

- They need a QB

- No excitement for the team...

I am willing to give them a chance... we'll see... I cheer for the Jets... I was emotionally invested in them... But they are horrible franchise until they prove otherwise. And 5+ more years of Brady means a long time before we see a winning team again

You sell tickets by winning.  Now this day and age business is so short sighted it is all about short term gain.

I think this chatter about Mahommes is plan B in case somebody trades up in front of us to get Trubisky. Then you are trying to get either Cleveland, Arizona or Buffalo , whoever doesn't get in front of us, to bite on Mahommes with the threat of us wanting him. Can't see Jets taking any QB until day 3, if at all.

i don't think the jets are taking a qb in the first round regardless.  i think mccags wants an impact player like williams (and what lee wasn't but on that defense last year he didn't have a shot).  if the jets can't trade back, i'm predicting oj howard.  clean prospect at a position of need in a new offense where the TE will actually be used.  a red zone threat who also helps in the run game.  and if the jets are really intent on giving hack a shot, they definitely should give him a good Te for short passes.
