Having family and friends in Philly, I paid a ton of attention to the Eagles growing up. I was always confused by how vilified he had become there near the end.

When Reid was available, I put many posts on record on the old JI about having to go after him. When he finally got to the super bowl last year, I put posts on record here that I was rooting like heck for him because the story of the NFL deserves to have an entire chapter dedicated to him.

It’s not a stretch to say he’s one of the most influential coaches in league history. He brought “pace and space” to the NFL before it even made its way to the NBA. He turned passing plays into “extended handoffs” in the early 2000s and was the biggest factor in the devaluation of the single back offense.

Sure, it took an all time talent like Mahomes to finally get him over the hump, but he deserved to be recognized for his contributions to the sport even without last year’s ring.

Agree completely.

And as much as he has benefited from having Mahomes: (A) He had the insight to trade up for him and (B) He was greatly hampered by McNabb in several of his most brutal losses in Philly.

No because Bienemy has nothing to do with the offense you're watching, other than to go grab lunch for Reid and Mahomes while they operate their offense.

You’re probably right.  He’s been there for 7 years and played in the system so he probably doesn’t know anything.  Next candidate.

I saw him make one Super Bowl when he finally got a WR in Owens and just barely miss 3 or 4 more making the Title game with NO WRs.

Guy is an incredible coach.  He probably wanted no part of working for Woody Johnson though.

Sorry, you anti-American hucksters. I, along with several other Real Americans across the country, was watching the Tampa Bay Lightning win the Stanley Cup Finals last night. Would of been a lot more interest if COVID didn’t keep all 246 of the people watching socially distanced by thousands of miles each

Bruh. Stop reading his puffed up Wikipedia and repeating what someone else told you lol.

2000-2018 coaching running backs with only a 2 year stint as a college OC mixed in.

His 2 years as a real OC...

2011 Colorado - Avg 19 ppg (3-10 record)

2012 Colorado -  Avg 17 ppg (1-11 record)

And, If by "playing in the system" you mean rushing for 75 yards and 1 TD in 16 total games, during the one and only year playing under Reid..... sure.

Seems legit.

So I came to a realization tonight that's been slowly brewing.

I am not enjoying watching the Jets play this year.  I absolutely do enjoy watching Mahomes and the Chiefs play.  It's like watching what could become the greatest team to ever play grow before our eyes.  So for this season, I will try to watch the Jets, but I will be a KC fan (other than when they play the Jets).  Assuming they are going to murder the Jets, I will root for a perfect season, and Mahomes to continue his journey to erase Tom Brady and the Patriots (and everyone else) from the GOAT and dynasty conversations.

At least it will be a fun journey.

Unfair comparison.  Mahomes made the NFL MVP QB from  last year look pedestrian.  I was bored watching Lamar Jackson with the ball.

The Jets are terrible.  It's not worth watching but even if they were good, KC is a uniquely entertaining team.  Mahomes is Michael Jordan and there's everyone else.  When you're watching the Chiefs you are watching Michael Jordan in his prime.  It screws with your mind.  Nothing really looks the same after that.

Sure, but were you rooting for "America's Team"?  (Dallas Stars)

mcnabb was a really good qb. he and reid were very successful tpgether. he may have faltered in somebiggames. but "hampered by mcnabb"??    career 2:1 TD/INT ratio....37k yards... hampered?

somehow doesn't sound right to me...

i mean you get to the big dance with your dancepartner and whenyou dont win youlook at one of them and

say the one hampered the other?

it's a pretty picayune point, I know...

No, I'm not trying to be as critical of McNabb as you might think.

Let me elaborate -  Andy Reid took a ton of criticism in Philly for "not being able to win the big game." All I am saying is that McNabb was just as big a part of that as Reid was. Perhaps "hampered" is over the top.

it'sa pretty fine point....              so,yeah, I see what your doing there now that you elaborated...

Reid/McNabb go to the brink together and couldnt quite get it done...
