It's a draft process, you sign jags to one year deals then draft players in the later rounds that play similar roles to your free agent jags and let them learn, then you let the original jags walk at the end of the season and hope your draft picks can step up to be jags on cheaper contracts who will eventually walk for compensatory draft picks and start the whole jag process all over again

The problem is Maye’s positional split is practically the same thing. Davis is another who’s better playing deep.

We aren't broke yet.  But we have not back loaded deals with huge signing bonuses either.  Joe Douglas is just preserving cap for the future.  Saving it for when we are in a position to make a run for the playoffs.  Which we are in no position to do this season.
