Things I liked today

Since there are so many threads hitting us over the head with negativity, here are some things I liked today:

-Elijah Moore continues to show he is the real deal

-The offensive line. AVT is amazing, Van Rotten out of the lineup and they are improving. Can't wait for Becton to get back and move Fant to RT.

-The defense battled. Sure it was the Texans but they played tough, played physical. JFM OH MY, that was a game and a half. 

-LaFleur in the booth is very impressive. He makes adjustments and finds a much better flow with his play calling

What did you like today about the Jets game?

Running right was very effective, maybe Duvernay works out.  Can’t believe Becton isn’t back yet, gonna be interesting who sits

Quincy Williams. Fun to watch.

CB’s overall played pretty good.

Ashtyn Davis is improving, misfire on a flag route when he was in cover 2 saved him one play, other than that he had sure tackling

Texans offensive line looked like midgets- out DL dominated them much of the game.

Young guys got more experience and a win.

Running game was solid bordering on dominant.  Without Carter, they still basically ran at will.

Zach Wilson’s timing was off, he was inaccurate and was down by 11 after going 1 for 6 with an interception. But from that point on he made good decisions and despite clearly not having  his best stuff (compare to Tennessee) he managed the game and played well enough to win. It’s tough for a QB to win an NFL game with less than his best stuff. Today, Wilson learned he can do that. It is a valuable lesson for a rookie QB.

The defense played really well

The play calling on offense seemed very purposeful, almost forcing zach to throw short. Hopefully the Berrios play showed zach that a well placed slant can have the same result as a down field heave. 
 

Happy to see the run game continue to produce 

ZW touchdown run showed his athleticism and some grit. Kid just needs to build confidence

Elijah Moore managed a 50% catch rate even with the league worst QB throwing to him. Cause for optimism.

JFM...dude has been getting killed for lack of production but it hasn't been due to lack of effort.  High motor shows up on film every week and it was only a matter of time before he had himself another big game.

Yes, the run blocking looked better than it has at any point this season.

Guidry improving on the outside.

Wilson played a lot of bad football but made some clutch throws along the way.  Was worried they may not find the EZ after the first couple of drives.

Quincy Williams.  Not a perfect player but nobody else on this roster comes close to hitting the way he does.  At the very worst he's going to be key contributor moving forward but has the tools to be much more than that.

Nice edit.  The refs said he did drop the one the Texsan’s challenged.   You know the really nice throw into a tight window?  That drop.   Not the time Berrios stopped running and popped a ball up for grabs with one hand.  That’s a different guy lifting the worst QB up.

Elijah Moore had two big drops today. One on 3rd and 3 (hit him square in the hands) and another on 2nd and 8 for a 6 yard gain late in the game. Not to mention he slipped in the red zone causing a sack on third down.

But Darnold was secretly good after 39 games as a Jet (then you wrote him off after 1 or 2 bad ones as a Panther). You should consider a community college intro to statistics course.

(Changing the topic a little the low throw Moore reached down and never broke stride was awesome.   WRs are supposed to do that but it was really good to see Moore make it look so easy and get the yards after the catch.  Competent receiver play from an explosive guy.  He dropped a ball in traffic with the game on the line too.  Players make mistakes sometimes.)

What did you like today about the Jets game?

Two for me:

- We really got to the QB. Esp Quinnen's recent form is encouraging to me. 

- The signing and inclusion of LDT has visibly improved the run game. It's rare to see a midseason signing add value.

They shed blocks so fast on some of those plays there wasn’t time to throw it away.

Do you know how to get all 22 tape for games?

I think Zach is playing like a rookie and the Jets offense sucks and lots of players need to get better or get upgraded.  
 

You think it’s mostly Zach’s fault and everyone else is doing well?

Can we work well enough together to make discussion interesting?   Some haters and some fan boys can’t.
