2nd round question

David Harris.

Christian Hackenberg.

This is really the first place answer haha everything else battles for 2nd.

The fact that Hack prevented us from drafting Mahomes or Watson and subsequently forced us to give up 3 second round picks for Sam is one of the major reasons we are in year 6 of a rebuild.

The Good:  David Harris

The bad: the other 24 ..... what a load of absolute trash the jets have picked over the years in the 2nd round.

Outside of Moore and Maye the last several second rounders have set this team way back. More evidence to trade back into the first to get a WR of their choice.
Would love Burks around pick 20-25.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner. Trade those picks immediately to move up or secure an established veteran. These picks are fools gold

So, I looked it up, we have made 57 second round picks in our history.  By far the best player was the first pick we ever made in the second round.  In the 1961 AFL Draft, we selected HOFer Herb Adderly with the 2nd pick in the 2nd round.  However, Adderly opted instead to sign with the Packers who drafted him in the first round of the NFL draft that year.

As for the other 56 picks, the only really good players were David Harris, Mark Gastineau, Wesley Walker, Jim Sweeney and Rich Caster.  Of those only Harris was within the last 25 years.

As for the worst, Christian Hackenberg is one of 3 Jets second rounders to never play in an NFL game; the other two, both TEs,  John Mcguire of Syracuse and Rich Sheron of Washington State were taken in 1965 & 1967, respectively.

No love for Randy Thomas?  He was a damn good guard.  That’s 24 years ago.

Maye actually was a very good 2nd round pick.  People will just always hate it because of the back to back safety selections.

Lots of teams are great in RD 2, the Jets are not.  That will be a huge piece of this draft.  You need long term starters at minimum at 35 and 38
