Should the Jets re-sign Quinnen Williams for 20 million a year?

  1. 1. Should the Jets re-sign Quinnen Williams for 20 million a year? Jonathan Allen currently makes 18 mill per year. Q will likely ask for more.

    • Yes - sign him for 20 million per year for the next 5 years
    • No

Is anyone else not noticing the major red flags on Quinnen?

Before 2022, he average abouted 5-6 sacks a year and was a solid player but a dissapointment based on where he was drafted.

His contract year in 2023, he doubles his production and IMMEDIATELY calls to get paid as soon as the season ends and also says he wont show up to voluntary camps etc.

This tells me he was focusing on getting paid the entire year (playing for the future contract)

I would not pay this guy 20-25 million a year.

Use the resources to bolster the offense which currently has an average Oline and only 1 stand out receiver at WR/TE, IMO. Rodgers/Carr/other Veteran will need to get paid, too.

1 (one) - dominant year.

I would not mind paying the man 20+ with heavy contingencies and escalators built in ... the guy played at that level last year and deserves something like that. Work ethic doesnt seem to be an issue. Slightly bummed about the holdout stance so early .. ... but one year wonders ? How many times will the Jets make the same exact poor judgment call ?

Absolutely, he was easily in the DPOY conversation.  When you have that on the DL and the best corner in the business, you have the makings of a dominant defense.

Yep, last time we had guy like that on the line was a beat up second hand well used Kris Jenkins. Still dominant and changed the defense but couldn’t stay healthy. We need to resign Q!

this narrative is dumb on several levels...

1. Quinnen has always been a "slow starter" even in college. Not paying him as he is hitting his prime would be the ultimate loser franchise move

2. The Jets can't afford not to pay him because of the narrative it would create in the locker room. the guy has done everything asked of him, and has been everything you want a player to be when not on the field

3. Pass rushers from IDL are a premium position, and we finally hit on a draft pick...how could you possibly rationalize not doubling down on that

4. Wilkerson (if thats the concern) was never nearly as good as Quinnen....thats just a dumb narrow minded comp

5. Average value of contract means nothing, the jets would not have to compromise the rest of the team by signing him like they would with say a big money QB. Maybe they cant afford to have other high price DT's...boo hoo...kid is a game wrecker

i am done now. please pay the man his money.

Wilkerson had a 10.5 and 12 sack season before signing his big extension.

So he actually had 2 double digit sack years. Quinnen? 1.

If you guys watched the games this year he was obviously the most dominant player on the field. He’s only 25. What are we even talking about? Pay the man his money. We finally have an All Pro caliber player on the DLine and you got fans wanting to get rid of him?

Why didnt he have a season even remotely comparable to this season before?

Because Wilkerson quit after being paid. And he’s expecting Q to follow suit

Lol that makes no sense whatsoever. Q was the 3rd pick in the draft and was generally considered the best player in that draft behind Bosa. He’s a much better talent than Wilk ever was

Could be the case. Could be.

But I suspect he will slide back to 6 sacks or so once he gets paid.

Red flag to immediately call for money right after the season ended AND threatening to hold out. Guy's had 1 great year. Thats it.

He’s underperformed up until last year. This was his breakout year last year, just like Wilkerson had before his option year.

Hoping that this is not the case, but we’ve been screwed several times over now. Having another great year and being a leader by not holding out would make everyone more comfortable giving the BIG contract

u have to be trolling right? he is on a 5th year option year...and what player great or not great doesn't call for money or show up to voluntary workouts in the last year of a deal? please stop.

He’s the anchor of the d line the strongest unit on the field. I’d like to keep him around long term, again he’s only 25. And DTs aren’t know for racking up huge sack numbers so don’t go by that. Q has been as solid as can be for the Jets and has earned his money.

I totally agree with you..  He was drafted as a 21 year old who was only a 1 year starter at Alabama.  Of course it took some time to grow up as a player.

He's improved and become an excellent player on the d line.  He won the team MVP and is 25.  That's the guy you resign.

He did it a day after the season ended. A season that ended in heartbreak for the team, no less.

And it hasn’t even played out yet. The longer this drags out we will see whether he really wants to be here or not. If he keeps his mouth shut they’ll probably sign him. If he goes full blown jamal Adams on Twitter? I don’t know
