Russini and Rosenblatt: 2023 Jets a dysfunctional mess; Saleh paranoid, Hackett lazy, Zach a tittybaby

Where does Saleh rank amongst the 32 NFL Head Coaches in 2023?

Without knowing that, it's impossible (IMO) to judge if we're cheap or not cheap.

How about this, where does Saleh's compensation rank amongst all the first-time rookie Head Coaches hired the past say, 10 years?

Again, these are objective questions that should be answerable with objective facts.

If Saleh is 32nd, i.e. lowest paid, lowest paid rookie HC of the last decade, thats says alot.

If he's in the middle, like 15th, on both, then his pay says almost nothing.

He's not 32nd but he's bottom third easy.

It's not a rule that the Jets have to hire first time Hcs though

It's a preference

You can't hire Saleh at bargain prices and be mad he's not Andy Reid

That's like me getting mad at my kia for not being a Mercedes

Again - this makes no sense. Try and think about what you are saying.

When Andy Reid was first hired by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999 - no one knew what he was going to turn into. I'll guarantee you that he wasn't a a particularly highly paid coach at the time. That didn't prevent him from turning into a great coach. When you hire a first time coach, you are hiring an unknown and hoping that he develops into an Andy Reid or Bill Belichick. You aren't paying the guy like a top coach before he proves he's a top coach.

Your car analogy doesn't work.

Again, source please?

From what I can find, it looks like he's somewhere in the 12th-15th range in terms of comp/salary.

What is your source that he is "bargain price" compared to the other 31 head coaches Bit?

All time low will be next year when Rodgers comes in and plays like a shot 40 year old QB and avoids all blame as the jets miss the playoffs again.

It's like that Simpsons meme "worst day of your life so far

Every year they don't go to the playoffs it gets worse

Just wait for the 2025 season when they have a 60 mil cap hit on a player who retired

That will be the new low point

They aren't all Manish

Look If you read the article and have a different opinion fine

But to refuse to read the article on principles or whatever is weak sauce

It makes me wonder what other information you are avoiding

I'm being sarcastic about "clicks" because that's what they are fishing for. The point is that these two have been out to get Saleh and Rodgers since jump street, and both have a history of shoddy information + twisting stories with the sole effort of manufacturing further dysfunction.

That has nothing to do with me defending Saleh, who I don't think is a good coach. That has nothing to do with my beliefs on selling our soul to Aaron Rodgers, which was an over-the-top gesture. That has nothing to do with my thoughts about the Jets, who have historically been a dysfunctional organization. It's as simple as these two "journalists" have an agenda and an axe to grind. That's not to say what they are writing is wholly incorrect, but a lot of it is exaggerated and a sensational departure from the truth.

IMO the only way the Jets can move forward is by eliminating the leaks, getting past the distractions, blocking out the local media that actively seeks to tear them down, and most importantly by winning. Every team in the NFL will have beat writers who paint negative pictures of the teams when they don't play well. That is their job. So no matter how many blow jobs Russini offers, she's not their friend- her goal, just as most of our beat writers share- is to paint the Jets in a dysfunctional light. So stop giving them information, let them write their phony stories, and hopefully once you put a good product on the field these hit pieces will have a lot less attention and credibility.

Questions that still need answering-

what did Joe Douglas do?

why was Wilson on the team?

He unnecessarily gambled on Rodgers playing most of if not all of the season and having Wilson as the backup and not really seeing the field.

He gambled and lost....stupid move.

If they have to get Woody’s permission to bench CJ Uzomah, imagine the conversation it would require to get Zach benched

Whose decision was it to fire Hogan? Do you still think Wilson is back?

Maybe he will give the 60 mill back?

Jake Asman told me Rodgers was unfairly judged and he took the largest pay cut in professional sports so that means he’s a giving, caring guy.

Did Jake Asman lie to me @bitonti??? 😢😢😢😢

Despite all the rule changes over the last century designed to increase offense the 2023 Jets had the worst rate of 3rd down conversion and red zone offense in league history

They also have a 12 year playoff drought despite the league adding a 7th spot

We're at an all time low however you want to tally it up

And yet they insist on having a defensive specialist as hc

Why was Zach on the team if he couldn’t run Hackett’s offense?

They said over and over again they believed in his potential.  They knew he wasn't ready to run ANY offense not just Hackett's.  JD gambled on Rodgers not getting hurt and lost badly.

I mean after week 2 it was clear to anyone with eyes he still could not play. And having Boyle behind him while keeping Simien (who was better than both) away from the team. Flacco reached out: Wentz reached out. Flat out nonsense. Woody brought back Wilson after last year for reasons that continue to get more and more obvious.

Most of those are mistakes in judgement and bad decisions that the people making them had other ideas about.

Hackett had a proven track record of utter failure and was a joke in denver, the worst oc you could imagine and they hired him becasue he made Rodgers laugh.

The jets predictably had the worst offense in the league and the team is bringing him back for the same reason they hired him, buddies with rodgers.

If you do not want to make this reason #1 it's top 5.

I'm not disagreeing.  I'm just saying Hackett is not the worst OC in the league when in collaboration with Rodgers.  Just like Gase was not the worst OC in the league in collaboration with Manning.  They are specific fits for specific HOF QB's who run unique offenses where they have a lot of control in the play calling and execution.  This is not the same as say Shanahan and Brock Purdy where the coaches do much of the thinking and just have the QB read and react.

Well, according to this, Saleh makes the same as Matt LeFleur and more than Zac Taylor, Kevin Stefanski, and Mike McCarthy - which goes to my point that the salary isn't relevant to this discussion. First time coaches tend to be cheap - some are good, most aren't.
