Reddick Hires Drew Rosenhaus

Isn’t Drew the one who dropped AB after he went completely off the rails?

🤷‍♂️😅

How are they gonna commit future guarantees to HR and keep GW, JJ, Sauce, AVT, etc?

Do they let Breece walk?

I would actually extend Breece right now if I could on a “buy the dip” type of scenario rather than waiting for him to set the world on fire 🔥 with better line play and ending up having to pay much more.

Trade Ahmad Gardner in the offseason, extend Reed and Echols.

Let Breece hit the FA market.

Trade Reddick now to Detroit for a 4th.

Not sure yet on Wilson and Johnson.

JD has shown an aversion to giving players their "last contract" and I really hope he doesnt change his previous tune and do that here.  When you give guys like Trumaine Johnson their last payday the risk of them completely mailing it in is significantly higher then for free agents who are on the 2nd contract and are likely playing for that last payday.

JMO. The one thing that should be taken from this is, Rosenhaus would not have taken Reddick on as a client if he didn't think he could get Reddick in to report this season so Rosenhaus gets his x%.  And the only way Rosenahaus would know that is by truly speaking to Reddick.

If Reddick said no, I really want $xx/x yrs or I'm staying home, would Rosenhaus then take him on as a client?

Just win tonight Jets!  Please!

Hey I'm far from the biggest Douglas-basher on the site, but do you mean aversions to giving out the last sizable contract to players like...

Dalvin Cook

Duane Brown

Corey Davis

CJ Uzomah

CJ Mosley (kept re-guaranteeing more years)

Connor McGovern

Duane Brown again

Aaron Rodgers

Allen Lazard

Javon Kinlaw

DJ Reed (if extended)

Ryan Kalil

...

It is a little disconcerting that the new agency is clearly not backing off the multi-year deal demand.  Assuming that the Jets absolutely don't want to be committed to him beyond this season, all that would be left would be a smoke-and-mirrors type contract that would appear to be a multi-year extension, but in reality gives the Jets a reasonable out next year - so Reddick can save some face.

The Jets don’t want to even do that because the plan was/is to collect a comp pick for him when he signs somewhere else next year. No comp picks for cut players.

Except at his age, there probably isn't a big $ long term contract in his  future

whatever his age if he's good enough to help this team win games -  if he's a game changer and not JAG

he should have at least a dummy 2nd year on there

The JN negotiation masters have already spoken and prefer to “let him rot” out of spite and as an emotional release proxy for this season’s disappointments.

Jets have under Woody Johnson been a last stop on the way to a retirement community for old players looking for one last payday. That's been so under Douglas but going back for the entire Johnson Error.

The average life span of an NFL player is about 20 years less than the average American.  That's a lot of compounding he's probably not going to get.

He is welcome to retire and get a normal job like the rest of us.

He has already earned 52 million in his career.  He could have played this year, taken that up to 66 million in his career, and done whatever he wants for the rest of his life.

Really good point.  Given the seemingly irreconcilable difference between the two sides' goals, I'm a little skeptical that a new deal will happen any time soon, but maybe we'll all be pleasantly surprised.  As some have guessed, maybe Reddick has had a change of heart about a previous offer and the agent change is just a way for him to give in and blame it on the previous agent.

Could be 2025 as a team option at $25MM (he's a UFA if the Jets don't exercise the option, and the comp pick is still preserved). Or make it more than $25MM, who cares if it's an option year. Even if it's $30MM, if they do retain him they may come to an agreement for less next year (for whatever his word is worth lol). Or they could find themselves as the highest bidder at ~$20MM (or less) next year after not exercising his 2025 option.

yes and if he showed up and broke his leg in training camp he gets nothing

a player like Reddick has earned the right to not be in that spot

even if he's only worth a 5th. Most NFL players are worth nothing on the open market

Because if he broke his leg in training camp, he’d have to be paid every dollar left on his contract as an injured player?
