Reddick Holdout Over

It’s no coincidence that these two moves happened in the days after Woody made the unilateral decision to fire the coach. I’m mad because he’s destroying the franchise. Because whatever you think of Saleh or Douglas, they’re the most highly regarded individuals this team managed to attract since Bill Parcells. And it was also no coincidence that they were hired while Woody was away. I know that Woody wants to win, he just still hasn’t learned that his best chance for that would be to stay the **** away from the team’s business. Silver spoon moron.

Who actually regards Saleh and Douglas so highly though? I wouldn’t say Saleh was held in any higher regard than Rex or Bowles.

And if Woody was able to attract such men of repute after the Idzik/Mac/Gase debacles then who’s to say he can’t again?

This is hardly the first time he’s meddled and it seems to only have really become a thing as Saleh and Douglas’ operation is collapsing entirely.

Sounds like the Jets will find an incentive mechanism to cover his fines. With a pro-rated regular salary for 2024 (9 million). So when he fired his agent and hired Rosenhaus that was the key. Give Woody some credit his involvement might have gotten both of these deals for top players done. But maybe it's too late. Esp if Jets lose tonight.

Its not.  Lazy reporting by Schefter.

It is now being reported that they are offering him incentives which could give him the ability to earn back his fines.

Seems like a decent deal for the Jets this season.

He could be lazy and just show up through out the season for just the base salary but could earn so much more through good performance with incentives and setting himself up for free agency.

The Jets are probably paying the fines to the league and Woody gets back his share of the revenue.

Appears they’re giving him the chance to earn his done back with performance like games played and statistics. Smart move. Makes Reddick want to play and produce.

The Jets wanted Reddick for this year and didn't want to commit to a long term deal. They didn't even have an issue paying him more for this year but Reddick wanted an extension with guaranteed money. Jets got him in the field without extending him. Reddick didn't get anything he wanted. How anyone thinks Reddick did well here is beyond me.

So the fines can be repaid with incentives that are based on sacks and team performance.

I don't think Reddick did well. But humans are by default very bad at internalizing opportunity cost. The first 7 weeks without him is value we can never get back -- sure we didn't pay him for it, but may well have cost us wins.

Drew Rosenhaus flew in for MNF to speak to Jets brass pregame in person about Reddick's contract. Rosenhaus and Woody Johnson had a long conversation before the game, and dialogue continued during the week with Joe Douglas and staff. Though temporary, it's a solution for 2024.

The ball started rolling on this the minute Rosenhaus took on Reddick.

Drew gets deals done and probably took the lead from Reddick as a stipulation.

So everyone here is arguing Woody vs JD and it’s more likely Jets vs Rosenhaus, rather than Reddick’s old camp, that got it done.
