A 30 year old RB and a 2nd round pick is much too much for Cutler. I mean, MAYBE for a young Peyton Manning do I make a deal like that....

I think Rivers might be available for Izzo and a conditional 5th. Much better value if you ask me.

look at the post where i compare Jay and Peyton's first two years, or look for yourself

PEYTON MANNING

JAY CUTLER

their circumstances were almost identical except Edgerrin showed up for peyton, i think you'll find that what we have here IS in fact a young Peyton Manning. And TJ and a second is a blue light special. why isnn't it done?

cutler is waaaaay over rated. he's not worth what is being bandied about.

mcdaniels must know of a significant flaw in this player or else this would not be happening.

the big cabal is probably to get cutler to the jets knowing that he'll be the bazooka version of Chad Pennington.

NO WAY is he overrated he is great and has NO defense and NO running back, plus he scrambled for 200 yards on 57 attempts so, i guess, he can hamndle no line, too, all this while throwing for 4,500 and 25 tds please DON'T say Cutler is anything but a star in this league.

Why would Denver trade for a running back when they just fill them in every year and be successful- especailly a guy with mileage on him.

Only faba has the heart to give a respectful response to this thread... lol

the ratliff thing is weird, starting to remind me of the Chad thing, which is perverse..

I'm hoping we get Cutler in here, if not, I hope Clemens wins cause fan boys wear my patience. Ultimately though, I really don't care and just hope to see some win the job rather then having a winner by default..

Funny, i see the opposite. I see Ratliff supporters just wanting a good QB since we've seen Clemens, it's the Clemens supporters that have venom in their hearts for Ratliff(I agree, very "chad like", one poster said "I hope Ratliff fails just so i could say i told you so"(paraphrase) Now that's WIERD and frankly stupid. How about wanting a good jets QB.period, who gives a crap who each person "likes"

we're jet fans, we like jet players.

I liked Lance Mehl as a kid, i never remember blood wars with the guys who liked Greg Buttle.

With the team we have now.............he doesn't .

I've seen Cutler hand off, he's pretty good.

It sets up the play fake, which results in 60 yard receptions for TDs

We have good pass protection, and he coul scramble. We grab a wr at 17.

Jay Cutler fits into any situation. You think the Ravens win the 2000 superbowl with John Elway instead of Dilfer? I'd say yes.

Not too fast.... Look if you are the newyork jets.... you have to do EVERYTHING possibel to make this happen.... this years first round next years and clemons? No Fcking brainer!!!

First what are you going to do with kellen if cutler was here anyways? second who the fck are uy going to draft this year thats going to be better then jay cutler? and next years? Big deal...

As for ratliff fans.... Please.... already... if jay cutler is even remotely possible you have to do this!!

hes young and he can be there for the next 10 years.. at a position that we seemed to always have needed...plus with the new D... we might have something special...

I know for us jet fans that might be hard to believe because we are always let down...but I will pray for cutler to come to the jets....

Perfectly stated, my friend.

Why isn't he a Jet right now? We'll get him recievers and all of these other stupid a$$ REASONS WHY WE SHOULDN'T GRAB this guy NOW will be fine.

I've never seen fans so afraid of success, though i understand.

What's baffling is we LOVED getting Favre. LOL it's bizzarro land.

which reminds me, anyone who thinks that supporting a young UFA who has shown good things because you have no other option(spare me the Clemens thing, Cutler had a worse situation in 08 than Clemens had in 07 and he put up pro bowl numbers and almost carried the team on his back into the playoff, just couldn't score 113 points in 3 games.)

is weird, is weird.

It's called being a fan.

We root for our young guys, especially the ones with the giant hearts, the UFA's, the Chrebet's, that what we like. What's to possibly hate?

If the Jets decide to make a strong play for Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler, who could wind up on the trading block in the coming days, they may need help from a certain Cleveland resident whom they unceremoniously dumped - Eric Mangini.

Wouldn't that be a trip?

The Jets have the need, the cap room and the draft-pick ammunition to make a serious offer for Cutler, but the one thing they probably don't have is a quarterback the Broncos would take in return.

That's where Mangini and the Browns would come in.

The former Jets coach has two viable quarterbacks, Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson, neither of whom has received an endorsement from Mangini. Quinn might be appealing to Broncos coach Josh McDaniels because he played at Notre Dame under Charlie Weis, who used to work with McDaniels in New England. Quinn is well-versed in the Weis/Patriots offensive system, which McDaniels will use in Denver.

That means the Browns could emerge as the third team in a potential three-way trade. The main components of a three-way deal would be the Jets getting Cutler, the Broncos getting Quinn and the Browns getting a premium draft pick (or picks) to help their rebuilding process. Without Mangini, the Jets would be hard-pressed to swing the deal.

Three-way trades are rare in the NFL, but Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum teamed up with the Broncos and Falcons in a 2006 trade that sent defensive end John Abraham to the Falcons.

The Jets haven't commented on their potential interest in Cutler, and they won't because of tampering restrictions, but they haven't ruled out the possibility of making an offer for the disgruntled quarterback, according to a league source. Translation: They're interested. The degree of interest isn't clear, but internal discussions on Cutler are ongoing. One Tannenbaum confidant said he suspects the GM already has placed a call to the Broncos.

Cutler, upset that his name was floated in trade talks, has formally requested a trade. It doesn't mean he's a goner, although people familiar with the situation believe the Cutler-McDaniels relationship is irreparable. McDaniels has said he'd like another chance to resolve his differences with Cutler before putting him on the trading block.

It's possible that trade talks could commence at the NFL owners' meetings, which begin Sunday in Dana Point, Calif.

The Jets own the 17th, 52nd and 76th picks in the upcoming draft. They'd have to surrender their first-round choice in a Cutler trade - and then some. Is he worth it?

"If the Jets have a chance to trade for him, I'd get him," an NFC scout said Wednesday, speaking on the condition of anonymity. "This kid is one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league. When you get one of those guys, you've got a chance to win every Sunday."

Publicly, the Jets say they'd be content to go into training camp with a three-way competition between Kellen Clemens, Brett Ratliff and Erik Ainge, but they also recognize that it's unusual for a 25-year-old Pro Bowl quarterback to become available. Owner Woody Johnson has a new stadium to fill and PSLs to sell, and Cutler would be a long-term draw.

But there's some baggage. Cutler's interception-prone ways (37 in 37 career starts) would clash with Rex Ryan's defensive-oriented philosophy. Cutler's detractors also point to his record (17-20), although he has played with a horrible defense. When the Broncos hold opponents under 24 points, his record is 13-4. There are also questions about his maturity and attitude.

"Cutler is c*o*c*k*y and he comes off as a little arrogant," the scout said, "but who wants a milquetoast quarterback?"

The Jets have aggressively filled some of their weaknesses, especially on the defensive side of the ball. However, there are still a few areas where they are going to need help, whether it is through a trade, free agency, the draft, or somebody on the current roster stepping up. Here is a run down of where the Jets need some help:

1. Quarterback - I don't buy the Jay Cutler to the Jets hype and I don't think they are bringing in any of the remaining free agent quarterbacks. I wouldn't be shocked if they ended up taking Josh Freeman in the draft, but it still really looks like it is going to be Kellen Clemens versus Brett Ratliff this summer. One of these two guys needs to step up and show they can who can manage a game, and occasionally hit a big play down the field.

2. Wide Receiver - If the Jets don't draft a receiver in the first two rounds, they are going to be banking on either Chansi Stuckey or David Clowney stepping up in a big way. I love Jerricho Cotchery but he isn't a number 1 receiver, he is going to need some help. Unless Clowney or Stuckey blows up this year, and I could I see a guy like Clowney doing just that, the Jets need another weapon on the outside.

3. Tight End - The Jets need a blocking tight end. Right now they have Dustin Keller, who is basically a wide receiver who occasionally is in a three-point stance and long snapper James Dearth. There are still some options out there in free agency.

4. Running Back - It wouldn't hurt to have another running back on the roster besides pro-bowlers Thomas Jones and Leon Washington, especially if Jones contract issues linger. Honestly, part of improving this position is getting Washington more touches. The guy can be Brian Westbrook if given the chance...get #29 the ball.

5. Cornerback - The Jets could still use another body here. Lito Sheppard has a history of injuries and I don't know if Dwight Lowery is ready to step into a full time role if Sheppard gets hurt. Don't be shocked to see them a draft corner, especially if they don't close a deal with Corey Ivy.

If we were speaking of the old Jets I'd agree with you about us not going after Cutler. But, for the past two years, they have spent money. Not always great moves but they have tried. So, I think they do have an interest in Cutler and if he can be had, they will get him. If they don't go after him, look for us to go WR in round 1 and try to move up for Freeman. Or drop down a little if they can find a partner and take Freeman a few spots down.

No. No. No. Not gonna happen. Don't want. Cutler will not handle the NY media well and he's got no big WR threats to utilize anyway.

Besides, the Jets could have God under center and he'd blow out a knee or somethin'. Their QB karma is sh!tty. Might as well stick with what they've got already.

yea these are the new Jets under Mike T Coach. Was it you who said how a few years ago we'd NEVER have a chance to pull these kinds of deals off (under Bradway)? I like it now that we are always in contention to get players that could help us. Gone are the days of Antione Winfield's WIFE directing our team's policy.

I really don't care who the Jets QB is. That's the honest truth. Just thought I would get that out of the way in case anyone thinks I am "afraid" of Jay Cutler. Anyway, in case you all have not noticed, Mangini is a spiteful, hateful, stubborn pr*ck and I have a really hard time beleiving he would help Woody Johnson and the Jets.

yea really good point EC...Both Eric and Josh know what a spiteful pr*ck Bellicheat is so I could see them doing this as a payback. There are still a few guys on this team that I'm SURE Mangini would like to get his hands on too...Elam, BT, Coleman

I know he hates Bill Belichick. Duh. But I bet he hates the Jets now too. That is how Mangini works. How you guys can't see that is pretty comical.

Oh, but he was trying to take his playbook and talk to players and coaches to come with him. At least that's what the Pats' fans will say. Of course, that's what Rex did when he came here and you don't hear one peep out of the Ravens about trying to do anything like what the Pats did to Mangini. Coaches bring other coaches with them all the time when they get their HC job, but only BB acts like a spoiled bitch about it.

Queue the Pats' trolls in 5...4...3...

By the way, Cimini is showing himself to be a hack once again.

This "rumor" was only talked about on Jet fan message boards. No news site or sports gossip site mentioned this. Cimini is combing the message boards again for articles.

Cimini = suck

In much the same way you fail to see that your HC is a liar, a cheater, and a scumbag?

I'm not so sure about that-most normal humans have a soft spot in their hearts for people who helped give them their start-of course Belicheat is less than most in that department-Mangini and Mike Tannenbaum will remain friends and continue to operate in the spirit of community that "most" of the NFL seems to anyway

nope when you despise your boss

money is not answer, he will get more coin in different city anyway

it is over in denver..afo has made the call

You're off, afosomf. Cutler despises his boss, but Bus Cook asked Denver for an extension to show that the team is committed to Cutler.

That was reported the other day. Cook made that demand at the Saturday meeting. The Broncos said no and then Cook asked for the trade.

If Broncos offer the extension Cutler will stay. Ultimately, you're right that it's over because I doubt Denver gives the extension.

McMoron is not long for the NFL

Broncos | Buckhalter denies buying drugs

Wed, 18 Mar 2009 16:28:21 -0700

The Associated Press reports Denver Broncos RB Correll Buckhalter denies he was involved with an alleged drug dealer who is on trial in Pennsylvania, according to his agent. Agent J.R. Rickert said, "When I found out, I talked to Correll, who said to me there is absolutely no validity to the allegation that was made. He did not purchase drugs from this individual or speak to this individual on the phone."

Do you really think we could get Jay Cutler, a 25 year old Franchise QB for a 30 year old Running Back and a 2nd round draft pick.

Seriously?

Unless the Jets have proof that McMoron has gay porn on his computer and they're going to blackmail him.
