Jay Cutler to Tennessee makes sense...

While he isn't the top qb that some people might have thought he once could be, he's certainly 100x better than what we have now.

3 reasons to sign him: The Jets will not be able to draft one of the two top qbs in the draft, he's way better than Colt McCoy and Brian Hoyer, and the Jets would not have to pay him 100 million dollars.

If they get a shot at him the Jets should pull the trigger as long as the new coach can handle a diva qb like Cutler.

Nobody in league history has been Geno bad.

Not for the entire season, just stretches. Did you watch Cutler last week against the Saints? The dude is 10-year vet, getting paid $19 million with some of the best weapons in the game and still plays like that.  I'll take a Geno Smith that you can sh*tcan for almost zero dead money over Cutler any day of the week.  He's been laughably bad.

If The Jets could somehow sign him off waivers, or without having to take on ANY of his current contract, I say what the hell, sign him. If whoever else we get at QB (draft, trade, waivers, whatever) plays better than him, then just have him as a backup, teaching/helping the new QB, especially if the new QB is fresh out of college. Doesn't seem like he has a big ego (as far as NFL caliber QBs go), so I think he'd be good in a teacher role...that is if there aren't any other teams out there at the time that would want him to play, which would affect his attitude, as he'd want out.

I just think he has some sort of value to a team, who knows, new environment, maybe he shocks everyone, and we get two full seasons of the 2013 Jay Cutler we saw in the first six games before he went down with the groin(?) injury.

That's another thing to consider for any team thinking about maybe going with Cutler in 2015...The injuries. Not just the previous injuries, but also all the wear and tear he took in Chicago with the sacks he's taken. Hell, last Monday night alone, The Saints Defense probably took three or four games off of his career with the beating they gave him.

Either way, it will be interesting to see what happens with him this off season. Make no mistake though, I'm not in no way saying that we should go get him, I'm just putting it out there for discussion only. I do think it was pretty sh*tty of his coordinator to say all that sh*t about him, whether he was right or not, you just don't throw anyone on your team under the bus....ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE FRIGGING COACHES. He may never get another shot in the NFL after that. There would definitely be trust issues there, especially with the QB.

Knowing the Jets front office though, I can see them keeping Idzick, firing Rex, THEN Idzick goes out and hires Aaron Kromer as head coach, THEN goes and TRADES our second round pick to The Bears for Cutler, thinking he's pulled some major coup by getting the Bears Offensive Coordinator, then reuniting him with his old QB Cutler.

COULD YOU ******* IMAGINE NOW? ONLY THE NEW YORK JETS BABY! LOL

They are not cutting Cutler I would think the cap hit would be staggering.

Have you seen the Bears Oline? Worse than the right side of the Jets. Did you see Tom Brady playing badly to start the season?

Oh yea, they traded Mankins & it was a sh*tfest for awhile & got cleaned up after they were blown out by KC.

People really don't put enough emphasis on how difficult it is to QB behind a bad Oline. Do you think the Bills have a pretty good front 7?

I do. Do you think it's coincidence that the best QB in football had a really bad day because he was under pressure?

I've seen Geno get hit sometimes while he's taking his 3rd step back from center! I've seen him have time & make bad throws too but was not surprised that Vick looked just as sh*tty behind Colon & Breno.

Genos worst games were when you can tell he was told "stay in the pocket", it takes time playing QB to learn the nuances of the position, especially when you body is getting rocked every other play.

If the Bears cut Cutler, I'd be all for bringing him in! Sign Iupati, draft a stud RT & give him a power running game & play DOWN FIELD!

Forte is good but he's a bad match with Cutler who's not a finesse QB, Cutler is a grip & rip guy and I'd love to have both Harvin & Cooper for him to chuck it to.

Good post, a lot of truth there. Definitely gave me something to think about, re:Cutler getting a fresh start behind decent protection.
