How in all f&*K does Rob Ryan Still Have a Job

The NO defense has to be the worst defense in the NFL in a really long time. 400 yards in a half? 296 to Cousins in a half? After giving up 49 just a couple weeks ago. Rex Ryan sucks but he is Lombardi compared to his brother. How in the world does this guy still have a job?

He got a couple of rings with BB as the LB'er coach 2000-2003..LOL

I have no idea why he still has a job?

Why was Schitty here after the home loss to Buffalo in '09? The Jets rushed for 318 yards and Schitty kept calling passes resulting in 5 Sanchez picks. Jets lost 16-13.

Why did Schitty get another job in STL before being banished to OC at Georgia?

Best guess; The NFL coaching ranks are full of blatant nepotism.

Rob Ryan fired

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/saints-fire-rob-ryan-after-defensive-meltdown-so-sean-payton-can-save-face-162142687.html

Our Sunday suspicions turned into Monday reality.

We wrote after the New Orleans Saints' 47-14 loss to the Washington Redskins — a team that had not scored that many points in a decade — that things were looking grim for Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, and according to Fox Sports Ryan was relieved of his duties.

It's not stunning. On a few levels.

For one, Ryan's unit is on pace to be one of the worst statistical pass defenses in league history. That's not a good look. If anything, the defense has gotten worse since the start of the season as several young players have worked their way into the rotation but failed to make the unit better. The Saints have lost to two rookie quarterbacks, and on Sunday Kirk Cousins had a career type of day against them.

But this move is more than just about Ryan. Yes, the Saints had gotten themselves back into the playoff race with the dramatic win over the New York Giants in Week 8, moving to 4-3. The past two losses haven't removed them from contention, but there are a number of teams they'd have to leapfrog — not easy with this defense — to get in.

This is more about head coach Sean Payton. He and Ryan have not seen eye to eye in recent seasons, which has been roundly documented. Payton gave Ryan another shot this offseason, and it hasn't resulted in good play. Of course, you could say that the Saints need better talen on that side of the ball, and some of the front office's bloated contracts have turned out to bite them in the behind, as well as some missed draft picks.

But Payton is playing chess with this transaction, and he's setting up his defenses for three or four moves down the line. By putting this on Ryan's head, Payton ostensibly looks better with a scapegoat in hand. And this is not as much about appearances with the Saints but perhaps with the rest of the league.

The worst-kept secret in the NFL is that the Saints would be willing to let Payton get out of his contract and walk after the season, with perhaps multiple teams willing to bid for his services. Miami Dolphins? Indianapolis Colts? There might be others.

So Payton can fire Ryan, a coach he never much cared for, and — we're guessing here — promote his good buddy Dennis Allen, doing him a solid in terms of exposure, as Ryan's replacement. And Payton comes out of this looking cleaner, even if his judgment and coaching ability have to be questioned equally. The bombastic Ryan is the perfect scapegoat: he's known, he's visible, he has a famous last name and he was highly expendible. It made too much sense.

Firing Ryan won't save the Saints' season in and of itself. But it could save Payton's chances of landing elsewhere last season and give him a ready-made excuse when he goes to answer questions about his teams' struggles the past two seasons.

It was Ryan's fault!

Saints fired DC Rob Ryan.

The only thing surprising about this move is how long it took. Coach Sean Payton and Ryan have never gotten along, and Ryan's defenses have woefully underperformed the last two seasons. New Orleans finished 31st in yards allowed last season, and they are dead last in both points allowed and yards allowed this year. The Saints are on pace to give up the most touchdown passes in NFL history. Ryan's name will likely help him land another gig, but there is enough evidence to support the claim he is simply not a very good coordinator. Defensive assistant and former Raiders coach Dennis Allen will likely take over coordinator duties. It is a change which should have happened in January.

Rex would have the exact same results as a DC for a team with terrible personnel all over.  Rex was with Balt, all world personnel, with the Jets stacked D loaded with 1st rounders, the very minute the team had a few injuries or didn't provide him with all pro talent the D went into the tank.  Goes to a his new team Buffalo, what a surprise, D looks okay with stacked talent.
