Mark Sanchez: MERGED

Manning or Flynn is not happening. Sanchez with a new OC and QBC along with a healthy McElroy is what we're getting. That's enough to get it done provided other needs are addresses.

Dump Hunter, Mulligan, Smith, Leonhard, Conley, Folk, LT, Plax... See if Ellis turns into anything with an offseason program under his belt. Draft a pass rusher, RB, Safety, OL... I'm sure some offseason splash moves are on the horizon.

This year was brutal to watch but the future can still be very bright.

Resign Pouha and sign Super Mario too. Por favor.

And the Jets have Sanchez an even bigger contract based on zero games.

And whether a fumble or a pick, it's still a turnover, and I'd argue a fumble is usually more costly because it usually yields better field position for the other team. So while Fitzpatrick led the league in INT's, he didn't lead the league in turnovers. Our wonder dufus did.

Those 6 pick 6s Sanchez threw beg to differ.

Sanchez turned the ball over two more times than Fitzpatrick while scoring eight more TDs. I'll take Sanchez.

The Jets are making money on Mark's contract. The same can't be said for a Ryan Fitzpatrick deal.

The scary part now is that --gasp-- Tannenbaum has to actually go out and draft good players.

I have seen this from you before. I defy you to name thirty players that Tanny has draft that aren't great.

I see Matt Flynn and I see Scott Mitchell and Kevin Kolb. You don't pay a guy $50 million based on one game.

Hell, the Bills are paying Ryan Fitzpatrick $65 million based on six games, you think they are happy about that right now? Dude wound up leading the league in INTs.

Jets paid the sulking little mouse more than that based on zero games.

Jets would have won 11-12 games with Fitz at QB. Clearly a better player than Sanchez and can actually complete a 25 yd pass.

You bring up Scott Mitchell and Kolb but dont mention a guy like Schaub because it doesnt support your position.

(Kolb is still unknown quantity due to injuries)

Who knows if Flynn will become top tier but we already know the answer with Sanchez

Dude, Fitzpatrick sucks.

I also didn't bring up Cassell who also proves me right.

If he pulls a Wilkerson and Kerley each year that will be fine.

You have to do better than produce two contributing players in each draft if you hope to cvompete for titles. Kerley and Wilkerson are nice young players, but the jets need about 25 more of those.

Brick.Mangold and Revis were a long time ago. But, yes, he has to find better players than Joe McKnight.

A pro bowl level special team player who the jury is out on in the backfield? In the 4th round?

your standards might be too high sir.

Agree but picking where they did last season that is a decent draft. FA signings need to be mixed in.

touché

..but I did say "generally" and he also has fumbles returned for TD's so he is an equal-opportunity offender. Most sack-fumbles yield better field position for the opponent than picks, or at least it seems that they should. Regardless, our boy had almost 30 turnovers this year.

That stat that showed during the game, where our opponents have scored something like 120 points off turnovers this year is disgusting. To be sure, not all those turnovers came from Sanchez and some didn't even come courtesy of the offense at all. But our primary RB had 1 fumble this year (which I think he recovered himself) and his primary backup had none. We had a few from WR's & TE's but maddening as they were so does every team.

I think I just see the Jets roster as being SO thin and SO filled with expensive, aging FAs that the idea of Tannenbaum having to reverse course and rely on accumulating and cashing in on a bunch of draft picks scares me. It's never been his MO.

Well there you have it. Doood.

Agree, Cassell sucks. (just like Sanchez and the rest of the USC QBs in the NFL)

Face it, he was picked to sell tickets and it worked.

Still Mr invisible Bart Scott ?

Sir, Mike Westhoff has produced a pro-bowl level special teamer every year he has been alive. I SAID GOOD DAY SIR.

Balderdash.

Why can't Obi Wan Westhoff turn TJ Conley into a competent punter?

Check mate sir.

If Westhoff has shown anything in his career, he can make chicken sh*t out of chicken salad when it comes to coverage units and the return game, but the kick specialists are just going to be as good or as bad as they are.

Yes Tom Brady obv.. No Flynn .. There's no book on Flynn, guy wouldn't do this as a full time starter in gb either

You don't know that for sure. He has made two starts and done very well in both. Might be the system but it may just be he is a very good QB behind a great one. That might have happened before in Wisconsin.

Favre had a bad year in this system as did Alex smith.. My money's on Detroit preping for Rodgers all weak then getting caught napping when they breathed a collective sigh of relief about Rodgers being out

Not for nothin' but the "horrendous QB" you're complaining about got us within a game of the SB the last two years and he played well in the postseason both years so I fail to see how your "2nd tier" QB would give the Jets a better chance of winning.

With an average QB, I think we'd have been in the Super Bowl both years. The Jets played in 4 halves of AFC championship games. Sanchez only showed up for two of them.
