Besides proving that you can use google to find old SAT-prep questions and utilize the copy and paste function, what exactly does this prove other than trying to insinuate those who want Rex to say are somehow intellectually inferior? You used to actually bring forth football analysis, now it just seems you do whatever you can to to paint the Jets' landscape in some sort of magical dichotomous universe where either you think everything Rex does is wrong and you have some special football insight no one else has or you're an idiot, who loves Rex and thinks he's the greatest ever, as if there's no middle ground. I personally like what Rex brings to the table and would like to see what he could do with even a middle of the road quarterback and offense, but also won't lose any sleep if he's fired.

Or I could just be all, hey ya'll who want to fire Rex so badly, answer this or your opinion is invalid!!:

You're an emergency room attending, it's your night on call and a 7-week old infant is brought to the hospital at 2am with a 12-day history of coughing and choking spells. The WBC count is elevated with 80% lymphocytes. The aforementioned child is dsypneic, gasping for breath, experiencing paroxysms of coughing, and has two bouts of emesis while in the examination room. Gram-negative, encapsulated rods grow out on Bordet-Gengou media. Which of the following microorganisms is the likely cause of these symptoms?

1) Bordetella pertussis

2) Haemophilus influenza type b

3) Klebsiella pneumoniae

4) Legionella pneumophila

5) Mycoplasma pneumoniae

or

6) My lack of infectious disease knowledge has no bearing on my opinion about football

Yeah, pretty much. I'm explicitly stating that anyone who is supporting Rex at this point is doing so in spite of all available direct and peripheral evidence, to the degree that they've moved into some sort of counter-scientific dimensia normally reserved for homeless people who have extended conversations with stray cats about mind-controlling alien lizard people. The debate has moved well past the point of worthwhile "football analysis" and has now degraded into Those Who Present Facts And Embrace Reality vs. Those Who Point To Invisible Things That Rex Does Maybe Probably.

3 weeks ago he had the opportunity to stake his claim as a GREAT head coach, we owned the #6 wildcard spot, we had 3 straight games against mediocre teams we'd need to fend off to keep it ... and we lost, in humiliating fashion, in all 3 games.

Any hope I had for Rex proving me wrong is gone.

I have to agree with the furry homo here.  I still love me some rex and think it would be nice if he could stay on as a defensive cooridinator.  But he had a chance this year to prove everyone wrong and the team went down like a heffer at JiF's place.

Just like with a lot of players Rex needs a change of scenery.

Hey, cool. While you guys are here, can you help me prove a theory I've been working on? Thanks. After saying "I'm a fan of Rex Ryan," please answer these five questions and leave the paper face down on your desks. Thanks.

1. A special lottery is to be held to select the student who will live in the only deluxe room in a dormitory. There are 100 seniors, 150 juniors, and 200 sophomores who applied. Each senior's name is placed in the lottery 3 times; each junior's name, 2times; and each sophomore's name, 1 time. What is the probability that a senior's name will be chosen?

(A) 1/8

(B.) 2/9

(C.) 2/7

(D) 3/8

(E) 1/2

2. Complete the Sentence: Because King Philip's desire to make Spain the dominant power in sixteenth-century Europe ran counter to Queen Elizabeth's insistence on autonomy for England, ------- was -------.

(A) reconciliation . . assured

(B.) warfare . . avoidable

(C.) ruination . . impossible

(D) conflict . . inevitable

(E) diplomacy . . simple

3. Name the current Speaker of the House.

4. At a recent birthday party there were four mothers and their children. aged 1, 2, 3 and 4. From the clues below can you work out whose child is whose and their relevant ages? It was Jane's child's birthday party. Brian is not the oldest child. Sarah had Anne just over a year ago. Laura's child will be 3 next birthday. Daniel is older than Charlie. Teresa's child is the oldest. Charlie is older than Laura's child.

5. True or False: If Richard looks into a mirror and touches his left ear with his right hand, Richard's image seems to touch its right ear with its left hand.

I want to believe in Rex and every time I go to defend him, he does something stupid.  Like "we have the best draft class in the NFL."  type stuff.  He is a good coach, not great.  I hope someday he learns from his faults.  Problem is I don't think he is good for the offense.  He says he wants an attacking offense, but when his rookie QBs start turning the ball over he goes very conservative to win games.   I believe it might be better for the future to let them make the mistakes and try to learn from them instead of being handcuffed.  Sanchez may have never been good, but I don't believe he helped him with the red, yellow, green crap.   Same with Geno now.

Come on, some of you still know what's up, I know there's still Rex supporters out there. Where are you guys?

You are a very lonely guy in support of Rex dude. He is out on the edge of a long skinny branch that is about to break. Rex has four games before the axe falls mercifully for him as well as Jets fans everywhere. Rex blew into town with boastful bluster and FAILED to deliver. In fact, the team has gone backwards more quickly that I thought possible.

I would like to see Rex coach this team with some decent personnel on the offense side of the ball.  This year was a purge year that, when it started, we knew we would see some absolute sh!t from our offense with a rookie QB.

Our order of importance for 2013 was 1. clear books for 2014(purge tanny mistakes) 2. Draft a QB and find out if that QB could eventually lead us to the promised land 3. build talent through the draft.

Now that Rex had us in the hunt for a playoff spot, expectations went up and Jets fans want a change @ HC now that Rex raised expectations and cannot deliver to those expectations.

What should be happening these last few weeks is Geno plays it out and shows that he can or cannot be that QB of the future.  What he shows the staff(MM and Lee) will tell Idzik how early he needs to go QB in the draft.  Other than that, I cant see much else for this season.

Again, and I hate to beat the dead horse, but based on the way REX "runs" an offense, I dont know if its possible to tell if we have "decent personnel on offense". For all we know, we may have now, or may in the future but identifying those players may be difficult based on the past.

I worry that we get REX "decent personnel on offense" but because of his shortcomings with that side of the ball, that they "fail", and then we have supporters such as yourself saying that our offensive personnel are STILL bad and Rex has no shot, when in reality they are at least adequate but REX is holding them back.

I know its a little Chicken before the Egg syndrome, but I am not willing to draft all this offensive personnel, hand it to REX and still have this team struggle to score 10 points. I am just not willing to take that chance. PERIOD.

Sanchez was Rex's biggest supporter until he sacrificed him to the wolfs,

now it looks like Rex is the next sacrificial lamb, what goes around comes

around, like the song says.

Sanchez's only hope going forward is to land wherever Rex lands. If it wasnt for REX holding his hand these past 4 years, he would be chasing carts in a Walmart parking lot. If Rex lands with another NFL team (which he probably will in some defensive capacity), then maybe Sanchez can go there, but other than that, I dont see teams wasting the money on him.

So Rex was basically told, "here's another crappy rookie QB with still no one to throw to, make a deep playoff run with this one, too, or you're fired!" ? Is that the idea?

If Rex convinced whoever was listening that he can win with his great DEFENSE, then yes, I believe this could happen. And based on the draft where again, he went defense TWICE in the first round, I would say their is evidence to support this theory.

JW78--If you cant tell that our offensive personnel is sh!t, I cant help ya.  If someone can come in as a defensive guru/specialist and magically transform himself into an offensive dynamo well, I haven't seen it in my lifetime.  He specializes in defense.  He needs to lean on someone else with expertise in NFL offenses.  These OCs are going against DCs that specialize on that side of the ball.  We need personnel that can create mismatches for opposing defenses along with a mind leading that offense that can exploit a defensive strategy.  Its not as easy as saying we are beating ourselves although it may look like it currently.

Now it sounds like you want Rex to just be the DEFENSIVE coordinator, and not the Head coach, and not have any input into the offense. I am all for this but somehow, I dont think REX and especailly IDZIK will be to condusive to this idea.

For better or worse, how many QBs to most HCs get a chance with?

Usually not more than one or two tops unless they have great success.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Before you answer, please recall that stoicsentry defended Tannenbaum to the bitter end, too.

Me too.  I haven't seen anything by Idzik that Tannenbaum wouldn't have done with the exception of showing patience.  People had no patience for Tannebaum, so that is somewhat understandable.  The Sanchez extension, is what got Tannenbaum fired.  Other than that he was not so horrible IMO.

I agree with you here. And the Sanchez extension is because the org was delusional enough to think they had one last run in 2012 and they wanted to clear cap space for others

I'd also give the child some IV fluids to replace the electrolytes and start him on a 600mg clindamycin IV, then I'd bill his mother $13k for the honor of my presence. #Doctors

And then you can explain to the parents why you're going against the standard treatment of choice and opted for an invasive IV infusion of a 2 month old instead of an oral dosage administered over two weeks. But yea, trying to belittle the field I've devoted myself to or prove that I'm intellectually inferior really takes away from my ability to have a logical opinion about football. This doesn't even touch base on the fact that I'm not even remotely dead-set on Rex staying, just that it's lately been increasingly grating how a bunch of you guys have become so damned pretentious and condescending to anyone who's opinion differs. It's especially maddening considering the running theme is calling for an OC who's philosophy is the exact same as our current head coach's and assumes it will be magically different here just because he's not Rex.

I think one of the biggest problems is that the Jets keep hiring numbers guys while personnel guys are needed.

+1.  Also, I'd like to see some consistency with this club for once and I think it starts with the head coach.

Btw, I'm breaking my 3 year silence on this board for this one. :cool0019:

It's not really a contradiction.  The point is, the roster would be stronger short term if Tannenbaum were still here.

I honestly don't know why you're so worked up. I don't know anything about pediatric medicine. Currently, I'm battling prostatitis which is causing my dick to feel like someone is stepping on it and my doctor won't give me any Percocet because my heart rate is elevated because my dick feels like someone is stepping on it, so, yeah, **** your field.
