RutgersJetFan
The Jets press corps really is amazing. The season is a disaster, big changes of one kind or another are coming, the team has more leaks than a wicker canoe...and the best investigative reporting we've got is some noncommital crapola about "the vibe around the organization." I can't remember who said this, but it's brilliant: 31 teams are covered by sportswriters; the Jets are covered by gossip columnists who happen to write about sports. It's the fanbase. Cimini is the original guy that we all liked to complain about. So people rushed to read him so they could see what to hate in that week's column, which is perfect for internet columnists because that means they get the page views to stay employed. Now it is every day. Cimini and Mehta have to fight for page hits, so of course they would veer towards sensationalism because that's what we read. I mean come on, the most recent feature column for this very site was on a bunch of jabronis who managed to swindle a boatload of people so they could make stupid towels for attention. Is it really any shock that this is the writing we get when it comes to covering the team?

sg3
Disagree about the leaking canoe. The reason asswipes like Mehta and Cimini can only make up and fabricate stuff is that nobody on the inside is.leaking Another good job done by Idzik in professionalizing how the Jets are run. bitonti
Typical. Idiot Johnson clearly doesn;t like confrontation and never really fires anyone. DEMOTION? W T F? here's what every fan misses about firing: the Jets still have to pay these guys That might sound like such an easy thing, cut a check for Rex for 3 mil. Pay off Idzik for whatever he's owed. But we aren't the ones doing the check cutting. It burns capital's ass to have to pay labor not to do a job, and then pay another labor to do it. It's like a bar owner paying two bartenders but one stays home. It doesn't matter if you have the money it's the principal of the thing.
Sperm Edwards
Just when you think you're aware of every Jets worst-case scenario, Woody Johnson finds one that's even worse. You can't honestly tell me you're surprised. On the plus side, now Idzik gets to sit in with Woody and his chums on the GM interviews. Sweeeeeet. Cornfed
Cimini. About as plugged-in as...an unplugged cord. "It's believed" "But the odds" "It's likely" "Reportedly" "I'd be surprised" "He might" "But the vibe" "It's possible" "I don't think" Gee. Thanks. +1000

But unlike many other owners who either have a solid business background(Artthur Blank) or some idea how football is played(the Rooneys and the Maras) Idiot Johnson brings nothing to the table other than money. The least he can do is cut a check.

Jolot
I was thinking of when he came back to espn and went after Mehta first show first segment.we desperately need new leadership that comes in to immediatly squash the gossip atmosphere that Cimini and Mehta thrive in...their sole purpose for showing up to work for 4 years now has been to embarrass the franchise ....my biggest disappointment of Idzik is that I thought he would address the issue but never did
56mehl56
Well, it is kind of tuff to evaluate him based on last year. He is not the GM, Roseman still is and Roseman is a personnel guy and not a bean counter. Who knows who wanted who. Point is other teams have GM's that have bad drafts it happens frequently. Just by replacing Idizik with a "name" GM does not guarantee a thing. Do I care if Idzik is replaced no , I just feel he's taking too much heat for a draft that can't even be fully evaluated yet ( Pryor/Amaro/Macfougle/Reilly/IK/Evans/Dozier)
RoadFan
You cannot bring in a new GM with one, or two (Bradway), former Jet GMs in the building. If Woody does this, we should demand he sell the team. If the owner doesn't learn from his mistakes either, the Jets are indefinitely doomed. FidelioJet
www.espn.go.com @Cimini ....but the odds of Idzik surviving this season aren't good. Woody Johnson has been tight-lipped in regard to his plans, but the vibe around the organization is that he's looking to replace his general manager. It's possible that he will re-assign Idzik to another role, but I'd be surprised if he remains the top dog in the football operation. There was a report last week that said Idzik is vetting potential head coach candidates, which suggests he'll be sticking around, but I don't think that's an accurate representation of the situation. He might have had a couple of casual conversations on the side, but nothing in an official capacity. We'll know the answer in nine days. ....He could be either Capologist/ Accountant... or towel attendant. Woody better get a real football guy in here. I don't want another screwed -up draft. That the fact that it's even being considered to demote him is VERY, VERY bad news....It means Woody clearly hasn't learned his lesson... Keep him or blow the hole thing up...those should be the only two options on the table.

The win in Miami screwed the draft! Look at the players that went before our pick. No brainer, Odell, Fuller, Watkins, Evans, hell I could have made that pick. Where he failed was not landing a WR in 4 but maybe, just maybe Shaq turns out good, u never know.

Ex-Rex
Idzik did an excellent job of getting the Jets out of really bad cap trouble. This wouldn't be a bad move as long as a good judge of talent is brought in as general manager. Iggy seems very capable of keeping Woody's dollars safe under his pillow. Just don't let him get within a mile or two from the hiring of a HC or drafting players.
Vinny16
Only the Jets would be dumb enough to continue to employ two men who they've fired as the GM of the organization. Why not bring Tannenbaum back from whatever it is that he's currently doing and have all three of Woody's former GM's working underneath whatever cap specialist they bring aboard to hire our next DC-turned-HC. Being the genius business mind that he is - how would it look to the other boys at "the club" if he admitted his Korn Ferry strategy was a floater in the porcelain bowl? Idzik was a brilliant pick for the organization - he's just playing out of position.
