I forget how it went on draft day but didn't he get a 5th back and it almost washed out to getting Marshall for nothing?

We got Marshall and a 7th and traded that 7th for Zac Stacy so it ended up being a 5th for Marshall and Stacy.

And we got a 5th for moving back like 12 spots in the 3rd.....so you could say we got Marshall for moving back a few spots in the 3rd and 5th (since the 5th we got wasn't as high as the one we traded originally for Marshall).

Don't really see Marshall being a top 100 guy; he hasn't been for a couple of years and was very clearly the 2nd best receiver on that team last year (Shoulda listened to Villain the Foe, Tanny!).  However, he was still a bargain for a 5th.  Big-time bounceback year coming for him when we put in the Conquering Hero.

Thanks for posting the links.

What a couple of beasts these two are.....whoever complained about giving Marshall a few more million (which was promised when we traded for him) is crazy. This guy is being paid at a very fair, reasonable rate and will be a difference maker for Geno and the rest of the offense.

#57 overall in the NFL?  There are 32 teams?  So he's basically a top 2 player on any team?  And we got him for a 5th rounder?  This doesn't add up.

It adds up when you  consider the NFL has a cap. The jets are "lucky" enough not to have an elite QB. Teams with elite QBs can't afford to bring in guys like Revis and Marshall in the offseason.

In 2012 Marshall put up 1500 yards. In 2013 he put up 1300 yards. In 2014 he put up 721 due to injury and absence from 3 games. No doubt that was a down year. Now if you think these are chronic, career-threatening injuries you might have a polnt. If not, you don't.

P.S. Alshon Jeffery was terrific as well - 1421 in 2013 and 1133 in 2014.

In eight years, Marshall has averaged just under 1300 yards per year. That's #1 receiver numbers. I'm banking he will return to pre-2014 levels now that he's healthy.

Regarding Marshall, Fitzmagic, or both?

In general.  Those 2 particular debates have just confirmed everything.

Marshall is a top 10 WR in the league, easily. Which firmly plants him in the top 100.  80 has no marbles.

Used to be.  Not anymore.  Especially not after the tremendous influx of WR talent into the league last year.  Hence why we got him for the same trade compensation as we did Santonio Holmes.
