Absolutely fine with Perriman as a WR3/WR4.  Even though he flashed some WR2 skills with Flacco under center, he's a bit too injury prone and inconsistent to be a locked in starter in this league.

Bring in Kenny Golladay, Corey Davis, or Curtis Samuel, plus maybe draft another WR, and all of a sudden the Jets have an upper half WR group.

meaning give him one more dollar than he already earned last year

he sucks and should not get more money from the jets(by extending him he gets more money )

Exactly.  I’m not sure what the big problem many have bringing him back as the number 4 receiver.  Yes I agree he isnt consistent and is injury prone but he has shown he can produce.  Plus we are probably going to sign a better WR or get one in the draft.  That’s a pretty good corps with Crowder and Mims

the joe plan was to suck last year or so some say

guess he is going for the encore... but dont worry he has a plan

Let's be patient. It would be nice if we heard of a Thuney signing, before anything about a resigning of Perriman.

Perriman with Flacco under center (3 games):

  • 11 catches (on 19 targets), 217 yards, 3 TDs
  • 11.4 yards per target

Perriman with Darnold under center (9 games):

  • 19 catches (on 41 targets), 288 yards, 0  TDs
  • 7.0 yards per target

But those total yards!

he sucked his entire career his last two teams did not want him and we did not get a positive ROI on him-if he comes back he should be paying the Jets money this season

big picture he sucks no matter who the qb is his best year he had 36 catches

guys acting like he is a stud with flacco as qb-he sucked for two full seasons with flacco as his qb

Yeah, but the Jets would pair Perriman with Vyncint Smith making it VERY tough for defenses to decide who to double cover.  That's when BAM!!! we surprise them by hitting Braxton Berrios on the slant after faking the handoff to Frank Gore!

I think people forget who our QB was last year.

Sounds almost as exciting as the Greg Salas and Stephen Hill era..

hmmm good point it is comical folks acting like Perriman was all world for a few games with flacco when there is a two season sample of him playing  with flacco where he had  a huge 33 catch and 10 catches to his name-in fact he was so bad with flacco for those two seasons he was sent packing

Sam ruined Perriman.

JK.. kinda

No need for the JK.  You are correct.  QB's make their weapons look good.  Perriman is the perfect test subject, because he's about JAG level for a WR.  Flacco made him look decent, even though Flacco sucks.  Darnold couldn't make use of Perriman, because he sucks a lot worse.

Meanwhile, it isolates out the coaching/Offensive Line from the discussion, because both QB's were dealing with the same coach and OL.

no no no as noted he had two full seasons with flacco he sucked with him and that was a better flacco version as he was younger

I just finished re-watching the Browns and Rams game from last year.

In those two games, Perriman had 4 drops on balls he should have caught, two of which would have been scores.

He sucks.

He sucks.

And yet he looked decent with Flacco and terrible with Darnold.  Wonder why.

He was probably so surprised Darnold hit him in the hands/in stride he dropped them.  Similar to the way the normally sure-handed Jerricho Cotchery's career took a nosedive with Mark Sanchez.

So I wake up from a nap to find that our prized "Jets are going to be day one Alpha aggressive second most cap room in the league" free agent is someone who already disappointed us?

SAR I

but "it was not his fault" even though he sucked on his previous two teams as well

With Mims and Davis on board as 2 big physical receivers we will need a stretch the field player. While I think JD will be looking for that player in the early rounds of the draft, it’s good to have one signed as a precautionary measure. You never know how things will play out in the draft. No doubting Perrimans speed.
