Popular Post Bugg
21 hours ago, Joe Willie White Shoes said: As someone who had season tickets from 1981 until this season, I can tell you the biggest reason for the attendance issues is the stadium and not the team. The Jets had the second largest waiting list in the NFL when they played in Giants Stadium from 84-2009j even though they had a horrendous period from 87-96. The new stadium is not built for watching football. It is built purely to maximize revenue through club seats and double the normal amount of luxury boxes, lounges with leather chairs and TVs and carving meats. Every seat in Giants Stadium was good for watching the game. Most of the seats in MetLife are too far from the field and the upper deck of Met Life is so high that it is just not worth going to games there. That's about 1/3 or more of seats in MetLife providing unwatchable views of the game. That is why the stadium is empty and lifeless. The place just stinks for watching the game. I never missed a play I went to the games in Giants Stadium and when the Jets were good and the games competitive, the place was electric. MetLife is built for non-fans and the atmosphere for every game, even the good ones back in 2010, is dull. In Giants Stadium, the people in my section were the same for every game and we all knew each other well. In MetLife, the people around me were different every game and I knew nobody. In Giants Stadium, the crowd was loud, but nobody - and I mean nobody stood up during the game. In MetLife, the crowd is quiet, but fans insist on standing for plays and on third downs - even though the team can't tell if the fans sit or stand. It is unpleasant. Then you have the recent development of Stub Hub and most NFL Stadiums are filled 1/3 or more with fans of the opposing teams. That takes away from the fun and excitement. In Shea, I would say about 1-2% of the crowd was rooting for the visitors. Giants Stadium had about 5-10% tops (mostly in visitor sections in the upper corner). Now they are everywhere. Throw in the awful parking situation and the traffic and the game experience has become terrible in MetLife. That is the main reason why the place is not selling. The stadium stinks. Roughly the same situation. Gave up our tickets around 2 years in to the new stadium, walking awy from the PSL. To be fair, kids in sports and other family considerations played a role. Have since had more than my fill of live high school and D2 football. But meant I had no desire to go to another game in a given fall weekend. The stadium is designed to cater to the luxury box crowd. But the last few games I attended, looked like many boxes were empty. Math-wise, getting another 20K plebe customers is going to generate a pile of revenue, and looks like the Jets and GiaNts never understood that. The concourses, entrances and exists are very poorly designed for everyone else. There are too few mens rooms. Unlike new Yankee and new Shea or The Rock or Barclays or new MSG, the place has no crowd flow. Feels like nobody considered the bottlenecks built into the design, because f___ the little people. Takes forever to get anywhere. unlike Giants, you cannot walk around. That's really stupid. Asthetically it's an ugly place. When you are in your seat, does have some good sight lines closer to the field. Catch yourself watching the jumbotron rather than the field; even seen ball carriers in the midst of a long run do that. But in the upper deck, you are miles from the field. Would note I've been to some concerts there where they didn't bother to sell those tickets. When we were purchasing tickets , quickly decided the upper deck was totally pointless. That has not changed. Some of the issues-traveling visting fans, for example-are a NFL-wide thing. Problem is once the idea became bleeding fans white, don't be shocked when the fans decide to make a few bucks on their own by selling tickets. Friend who is Vegas resident figured out immediately that getting a mess of Raiders tickets and selling most of them to visistors was a potential gold mine. One thing that's less obvious but has become clearer; driving around NY/NJ is a complete pain in the ass. It gets worse every day. And if you are driving from NY, worse than that. Driving to and from is an ordeal. The PATH train form Penn is okay going, but akin to "Shindler's List" outtakes on the way home. I always thought the WSS was a pipe dream and a bad idea. But in retrospect, a center city location with a crowd conditioned to take the subway, PATH and LIRR probably would have made a lot more sense. Would have lost tailgating, but you would have had a slew of midtown bars and restaurants take up the slack, no problem. The WSS failure was a huge missed opportunity. And failing in that, gettings something done near new Shea (easy access by subway or LIRR)could have worked too, and that would have added a tailgate element. All things considered another example of ownership that has been totally clueless forever. 5 2

The fact that the Jets have consistently been Top 3 in the NFL and #1 in the AFC since MetLife was built is what counts. But Jets fans, no matter how loyal, have their tipping points. I cannot invest myself in Sanchez (mishandled), Smith (never should have been drafted), Fitzpatrick (never should have been extended), Petty (never should have been drafted), Darnold (bust), and Wilson (doubts). Sitting in a stadium knowing you're going to lose and watching players that you know aren't good and watching your stars trying to get out of town is just awful. JETSY14
Not to mention that the Jets flood the secondary market with unsold tickets which in return drives the ticket price down. This is another reason not to buy season tickets. If you attend every game you will pay a little above face on maybe 2 of the games. The rest of the games are well below face. Not to mention you don't have to buy preseason game which are worthless.

Lot K Tailgaters
I’ve had tickets since 1991 when I was 11. Still sit in the upper deck and for what I pay I’m fine. I’ve considered dropping them at times though. It is a lot more work to attend games at the new stadium. In the old stadium every seat had a good view. There were also escalators that went straight to the lower level, mezzanine or upper deck. There were also spiral ramps as well as multiple entrances. Now most people enter through either the Verizon or Pepsi gates. Takes a LOT more time. Covid also didn’t help. Some people enjoyed being home last year. There are people out there who aren’t comfortable being in a crowd with 82k fans. The biggest thing is how bad the Jets have been the past 10 years. I used to rarely leave a game early. I’ve found myself doing it quite a bit the past several years. If they win fans will return.
