it's not a popular option but I hope it's Jimmy G

he gets hurt but he can work this offensive system

But.  He's ALWAYS HURT.

How many full seasons has he made it through in his career?

I mean, I guess he's perfect to pair with Becton.

Aaron Rodgers

Best quarterback who realistically may be available. Would be one hell of a 2-3 year ride.

If the trade comp is high (i.e. multiple firsts), then Derek Carr is my preference. I feel Packers may want to move on and would accept less than is being reported in the media to offload his contract. Perhaps a conditional second.

I'm way more concerned about the 40 year old Rodgers getting hurt

Vinny T, Favre, old guys get hurt it's what they do

Jimmy G might have a better chance

Of course older players get hurt.

Rodgers has played in 81 games the last 5 years.  Jimmy G has played in 51.

Isn't this the offensive system that already got Rodgers a couple of MVP awards?

So you prefer O'Donnell 2.0 over Favre 2.0.

Interesting.

Well when you put it that way maybe I am with Bit.

Rodgers or Fields

unless our goal is to go 10-7 for the next 2 years, and then back to a decade of futility, then the other guys work well for that

10-7?  Where do I sign?

that post says QBs and PK are excluded from the data set

Read my post, bit. I discuss that. Unless you want to hypothesize that age correlates to increased injuries for kickers and QBs but not for RBs or WRs who have much greater demands on their body…

I’d actually hypothesize that older QBs get injured less than younger QBs mainly because as a population they run less. Carries-per-game has the great positive correlation to injuries.

father time is undefeated - even those that dont get injured like Brady get so contact averse they are barely football players anymore

I’m a data guy and so I presented data that refuted the point that was made. It is definitely counter-intuitive and I was surprised by the conclusion. I thought others would be, as well.

You new point above is based on gut feel and observation, which may well be valid, but hard to support with data.

Jimmy G was outplayed by a rookie QB, after he got hurt for the umpteenth time.

by what standard? his 4 extra points of QBR? They were basically the same player last year, Purdy threw less (and also got hurt)

just to be clear I like Jimmy G at Jimmy G prices better than Rodgers as a cap killer in 2025/26 and Derek Carr after a bidding war

  • 2 weeks later...

If I answered this question just two day ago - it would have been Carr, with Rodgers at the very bottom of my list..

But as things get closer and Rodgers looks like he's going to be the guy - I find myself falling into the trap of optimism.

SOOOO many red flags with the Rodgers signing - but I can't help but think of the what ifs....and be excited.
