Aaron Rodgers to the Jets rumor: Merged

No you can't.   How many good players could good we have on our team because of what we'd pay rodgers?   How many good players could we have on our team because we're paying Jordan Love top five franchise tag money?   If Love plays good this year he will likely get a middle of the road extension half way through the year like they did with Rodgers in 08'.   The cap will go up but it will go up for everyone and we wouldn't be competitive allocating twice as much money as any other team to QB.  Rodgers will not be in GB...   I'm done....

It's a question of leverage and opportunity. For the time being green bay doesn't have to do anything. Someone's QB could get hurt, a team may miss out on a QB in the draft,Woody could do something nuts, maybe a team calls that's more desperate. Who knows...All of those potential outcomes have better upside than a 2nd rd pick.

If I was guttenkurst I would fall back for now.

You're also putting value on a QB rookie contract. To me it doesn't matter if your QB is paid. Ultimately if he's a franchise QB it doesn't matter.

It's just my philosophy

The only actualy "fail" would be Rodgers in a Packers uniform sitting on the bench week one.

I'm sure that won't happen.  They will give in eventually.  Worst case, he is playing and Love is gone.

Someone who creates an account and posts 219 times in a day and a half, who is apparently a Bills fan, is obviously a troll. This guy/girl has been on here day and night, non stop. Why the sudden urge to spam the Jets message boards, not just with a few messages or opinions, but 219 posts !!

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy when you do it Bobby, but you literally do exactly that on a Packers forum though….

Could you imagine being a Buffalo Bills fan being scared that the Jets are going to get Aaron Rodgers so your plan is to infiltrate the Jets message board hopefully Woody sees what you're writing and then you can sabotage the trade...

From Cimini's blog.

A 'different' deal: It raised eyebrows around the league when the Jets received permission from the Green Bay Packers to speak with Rodgers last month before trade compensation was agreed upon. Typically, that's not how it works. Example: The Jets and Kansas City Chiefs reached a trade agreement last year before wide receiver Tyreek Hill was permitted to talk to the Jets.

Why not with the Packers?

"I think each deal is a little bit different in its own right," Jets GM Joe Douglas said at the recent league meetings. "In certain trade talks there have been times when we had compensation agreed to. This one just played out different. I feel like every deal has its own life. This one was just different."

So JD knowingly painted himself into a corner. He gets permission and agrees to talk with AR BEFORE comp was discussed!! and then after meeting with AR he publicly expresses his love and then he lets all other vet QB options fall away and then is surprised GB is demanding (and will get) too much for the trade.

Thank you, Joe Douglas, Thank you

With all of the people I've put on ignore I'm seeing about 6 posts per page. It's glorious.

Same! I haven't used ignore for years and in just one page of Kelly to Jerkoff posts, they had to go on ignore.

Now the entire thread is "You've chosen to ignore posts by Kelly to Jerkoff", which is almost as bad, tbh. ?

your right.

i found something that has it as 51 mil for 2025 and 45 mil for 2026. if thats right it still isnt good.

very confusing contract

It's a difficult contract to wrap your head around for sure. If Rodgers is traded, his cap hits for the Jets would be:

2023: $16m

2024: $32m

2025: assuming he retires, $58m dead cap hit, that can be spread over 2 years with a post June 1st retirement.

All our young players won't hit our cap hard until 2026. Becton, Mims would be the only question marks.

All this being said, Rodgers has said he'd likely have to sign a restructured deal. So it's probably going to look different anyway.

Why is a Bills fan on this board discussing aJets/Packers deal? Have you been kicked out of Bills Mafia or do Bills MB suck that much? Go look for friends elsewhere…. Preferably, someone with similar rooting interests.
