The issue is, the jets offensive personnel and coaching isn’t good enough to win games with taylor unless the d is lights out. So while it improves the backup qb situation it doesn’t change that much. If rodgers misses significant time, they likely miss the playoffs and we’re in for a housecleaning again. Again. If rodgers misses a few games and taylor can’t eke out wins and they don’t make the playoffs, we’re housecleaning. When you really look at this season, it’s easy to see why every coach/scout wants to leave. They know it’s difficult to make the playoffs with rodgers, given his age and health concerns, and the OL situation. I do bring up the crazy scenario where the jets surprise and take a qb in the 8-10 range, and then use a 2025 pick to trade back into the 2024 draft and address OL. That situation would be kinda bizarre, but it would (hopefully) address both backup qb and future qb in one move, it would give woody his shiny new qb toy to market with the new unis and would hopefully attract better coaching candidates next year when it all falls apart. What I find interesting in light of the outright release of Russ is Douglas is apparently expending time and energy to trade our Wilson for a 7th round pick and 5 million in cap space. Just release him and turn the page. But with the Jets, it’s always something. 2 1
jetstream23
The Jets will be lucky to get a bag of potato chips for Zach Wilson at this point. Lots of adequate QBs floating around out there for trade or as FAs.
