Give me Ridley, Bakhtiari/Smith and an OT at #10 and we’re in much better shape.  Its doable.

Still think we’re dead in the water with Hackett no matter what. Cant totally hide the worst OC in the league.

Well apparently you can hide him if Rodgers is the QB (see MVP’s).

If they sign a couple vet ots, would you take Bowers at ten ( assuming we get Ridley) and because it's a deep class for oline, just take the best ot like rosengarten rd4?

I really want to add some picks in this draft. Rd 2-6 is stacked

any chance you guys think we go after him? I know the jets were interested before he got suspended. I am not totally sold on him being a #1 but he would be a huge upgrade over Lazard. Still would want to draft a wr

Absolutely!!!

Dont forget that JD pretty much traded for him before JAX did and ATL did us a solid and told us he was under investigation. So we backed out. So clearly JD likes his talent.

I question more so if he wants to come to us. But I expect us to make a run at him.

Insanity. Douglas receiver signings have been Davis (retired) Lazard (uh yeah) and Hardman. Now you want to give a player who missed a season for personal reasons and another for gambling 20 million a year? Add on the fact Jacksonville is letting him leave. If you want to know why the Jets are a disaster, here’s a peek.

One suspension for gambling for a year, another indiscretion and he is gone longer.
Mental Health issues limiting him to 5 games in one year.
Could he be totally over these things?  Maybe.  But a guy missing large periods of time with no injury is a risk.

Ya think ... Totally agree.... Hard pass... Unless the contract is structured to protect the team.

Praise John Idzik for one thing. He could at least assess value. The last receiver the Jets signed who was worth it was Eric Decker.

I loved Idzik's approach.  It's just a shame he couldn't draft.

I read about the gambling thing and its a big issue rightfully so in the league but it's not like he was out there doing a Jordan at the casino. He was doing stupid sh*t on his cell phone like most young people do. Likewise our young adults are mentally fragile at least comparitive to older generations. Mental health issues are on the rise in this generation and I think more people suffer in silence and still play than we all realize. We may wind up with a player with mental health issues regardless.

I think he can he a dude here playing next to Wilson. His issues and living in NY make me hesitant but he is the best available wr that we dont have to give up assets for and that makes him more valuable to a team with limited assets like the Jets.

That being said, I want him so that means officially we wont get him because one of the following:

we are a sh*t show

taxes are too high here

he doesnt want to play for a lameduck coach

he doesnt want to play in the cold

we are used as a negotiating tool like usual

Jacksonville already did the homework on the one year deal. He’s not going back there. Unless Ridley is coming in a one year incentive laden deal, he’ll no

lmfao - He traded a 4th round pick for Percy Harvin on Oct. 17 for 9 games when the Jets were 1-6.

Free agent value. Decker is like the last decent signing this team has had in offense. Idzik also brought in Ivory.

We need to get him! We should also get dj chark as the 3rd wr. Then we will be set. If miss out on ridley then sutton is a must trade option.

( dang im high ) :)

LOL..  appreciate the subtle humor at the end.

Laughter is the only positive thing this team gives us.

You guys are nuts.  Based on production last year, our circumstance, and waning options, signing Ridley is a no-brainier. He’s a top-25 WR (yardage), and has TD production that is tied for 8th best in the league (with 8).  He’s in elite company (statistically) and doesn’t require draft compensation…which we don’t have to spend on a receiver anyway.

C Ridley: 17 games, 76 rec, 1017 yards, 8 TDs

G Wilson: 17 games, 95 rec, 1042 yards, 3 TDs

D Adams: 17 games, 103 rec, 1144 yards, 8 TDs

D Hopkins: 17 games, 75 rec, 1057 yards, 7 TDs

Why are the Jaguars letting him go?  And why is he already about to be on his 3rd team in a 3-year period?

Why are you asking the same question twice? Lol

He was traded for and signed to a 2 year contract, now he’s a free agent.  Who says they DON’T try to resign him?  I’m not intimate with the JAX cap situation, but off the top of my head they have other weapons (C Kirk, Z Jones, E Engram, Etienne), and some other pressing needs to protect their QB and defense.  They can likely replace Ridley in the draft with their draft capital, something we don’t have the luxury of doing until the 3rd round.

I wasn't.  The Falcons got rid of him and now the Jaguars are letting him walk, all within a 3-year period.  Meanwhile as @Matt39 pointed out he missed 29 games due to non-football reasons (mental health break; gambling).

Just seems like a really risky guy to hand the multi-year deal he's likely to command, all for a guy who is good but not great.  Especially since there are few things more damaging to your mental health and ability to stay on the field than playing for the New York Jets.

The minute the Jets sign him just go ahead and put him on the Commissioner's Exempt List and get it out of the way.

If they re-sign him, the trade comp to the Falcons elevates from a 3rd round pick to a 2nd round pick.  That, coupled with the big contract he will get as the likely top FA WR on the market, might lead to the Jaguars letting him go.

I like Ridley and think he could be a good signing, but he is not without risk.  He will be expensive, and has already been suspended for a year and suffered mental health issues.

In any event, I think this is all academic - I seriously doubt he is coming here.  The fact that the Jets are already being linked with guys like Kendrick Bourne tells you a lot about where this FA period is likely headed.

If he were a true young WR1a/1b with limited concerns, the difference in going from giving up a 3rd to a 2nd would be negligible.  I doubt its a huge factor in the equation.  Committing long-term to him is the far bigger issue.

Instead we should sign no talented players that are available

lulz.  Ridley isn't even that good, guy.  And we're not even saying "don't sign him".  Just don't be the dumba$$ team that hands him a 4-year deal only to watch him end up on season-ending IR by Week 3 of his first season.

As it stands now I think the jets have a shot at DJ Chark.

JD needs to make some big cuts to get into the position to outbid teams by 15% to make up for the jets tax.

if he gets to 45 million or more in space then he can address some things.
