I would travel to Queens to games there.... No problem. Obviously more convenient for me if they stay here, but I get it. Ive been here since 1984 and that place has zero personality. None. It sucked in Giants Stadium and it sucks with co-ownership as well. For me, it's just a convenient ride. I hope they blow the ugly air conditioner up one day. Really... physical appearance is important. MetLife is like a misplaced hobo in a formal gathering. Tbh if you’re a jets fan in jersey Queens might be easier. You gotta drive to the game, pay for parking, tolls, gas and it takes forever to get out of the meadowlands after the game If the games are in queens all you gotta do is take the bus or nj transit train to midtown and then take the 7 train to Mets Willets Point and it goes direct nonstop during games 0 stress and cheaper
jetsfan56
My father had an old beater car we used to take into the city for games at Shea back in the day. We always parked near those chop shops because my old man refused to pay for parking at the stadium. I hadn’t thought about that in years…wow. Last time I parked there every car on the street had at least 1 window broken including the prybar dent in my roof and sunroof glass all over the interior. I figured it was retaliation for not paying to park in one of those “protected” little parking lots all around. The train is awful; they didn't think thru making it one seat with no transfer from Penn Station to Metlife? Had tickets with a group, some in Brooklyn, others in LI and Jersey. Gave up post PSL after season 3 of Metlife. Disagreement about roads, access. The new stadium did in fact make getting in and out a pain in the ass. It does take longer, with a needlessly complicated parking tier system. And the stadium itself has the worst ingress/egress of any stadium I have ever been to. And it's not close. No spirals because some silly people did something; how moronic. And why it is they don't have enough security such you need to be at the gate by 12:15 to be in your seat by 1PM; again, idiotic. People are paying no small amount of $; they're your customers. You could treat them better than prison inmates. Morrissey
i'm not gonna bother reading all these posts. but the soccer specific stadium and the housing, hotel, school at Willets Point that came with it was voted on and approved 2 week ago by the city. Morrissey
Going from 25,000 soccer specific stadium to an 80,000 stadium that can host NFL games is not a small easy fix. The plot of land would have to nearly double and would eat into the housing, the school, the hotel. All of which was required to get NYC council to approve in the first place. Grounds being broke for the soccer stadium in the fall once the site is done being cleared.

I still wanted to share it regardless because: a.) It’s interesting. b.) If I’m right and this is just a play for MetLife upgrades, that’s a pretty big deal. I think the powers at be cave, the Jets stay, and that our giant AC unit in the swamps of New Jersey gets spruced up. We'll know how serious these talks are and how far the Jets are willing to go next spring. Everything we predicted would happen with this abomination of a partnership with the Giants has all come to fruition. I can't help but laugh. They could have had what they wanted in Queens (after the WSS fell through) but they took the easy, fast path. Jay Cross and his "dream team" wanted to strike a deal and exit stage left after the WSS debacle. Woody was too stupid to realize Met Life Stadium was a short term exit strategy for Cross, Higgins, Shealy, etc and not in the best long-term interest of the franchise. 1
Jets and Redskins
I suspect in the next five years a new york studium will come up again somewhere. Is it possible they share with mets? If not Queens another NYC spot? The thing is this getting there own stadium has been talked about for awhile. mfmartin
Well much easier to build a stadium in Queens vs Manhattan. Plus you have Steve Cohen. He's trying to develop that area of Flushing build a casino etc which could be a big money enterprise. Not sure if Woody would sell team to Cohen but he could get a big money offer from him. Cohen has stated he has no interest in the NFL due to the concussion stuff.Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app
Rangers9
I have no prob with teams sharing a stadium. It makes sense. There's nothing wrong with MetLife. They can make it green for a Jets game and blue for Gis.

Steve Cohen and the NYCFC are heavily involved. The stadium they are building without the Jets being involved would be around 1.5 billion. You’re probably looking at 3 billion with the Jets partnered in. I wouldn’t lose any sh*t about it yet, but the Jets are sick tired of dealing with the Maras. Say what you will about Johnson, but the guy basically wants everything that the players (as well as the fans) have asked for, which is a grass field and retractable roof. Every single proposal gets shot down by the Giants side of things. My gut feeling/sense is that another reason they have engaged in the aforementioned talks is to use it as leverage to get what they want from NJ and the Maras in terms of upgrades. I think they’ll (NYG and NJSEA) cave; but this is certainly something to monitor as next year is the deadline for the Jets to get out.
