Jet Nut
13 minutes ago, Green Ghost said: Everyone in the NY area has posted they’d love to see it happen. No surprise there. I still have a home up on Long Island, I would too. The more realistic among us know it won’t. (and let’s not act like NJ would be so quick to accommodate the Jets for 3 years if they did try to move. The Oakland A’s are going to be forced to play 3 years in a minor league ball park while they hope Vegas builds them a stadium). They don’t require NJ to accommodate them. The bigger obstacle is deciding if they want to add the $ it will take to move to Queens, either paying for part of the expanded soccer stadium or to lease a stadium when they already own 1/2 of their stadium. Will they? Who knows but the source is credible, not a nobody. Claims Woody is sick of the Giants getting in the way of improvements like going to a grass field, a dome etc.

We always parked near those chop shops because my old man refused to pay for parking at the stadium. I hadn’t thought about that in years…wow. Same here. My Grandfather and I would walk to the games in good weather (lived near the LIE/GCP about 1 mile from stadium.) He used to drive in inclement weather and park near the chops under the whitestone expwy for free. Still had to walk about 1/2 mile. But he didn't pay for parking! 1

Grass and retractable roof... Would immediately become a major concert destination in off-season too. same here. Grew up in Forest Hills, right near LIE/Corona. Somehow wound up in NW NJ. I would travel to Queens to games there.... No problem. Obviously more convenient for me if they stay here, but I get it. Ive been here since 1984 and that place has zero personality. None. It sucked in Giants Stadium and it sucks with co-ownership as well. For me, it's just a convenient ride. I hope they blow the ugly air conditioner up one day. Really... physical appearance is important. MetLife is like a misplaced hobo in a formal gathering.

How long does it take for various NYers to get to MetLife? I assume there are no subways/trains that go out there so it’s all driving? When I went to LA for a Dodger game a few summers ago, I spent 30 minutes talking to a 30 year season ticket holder who drove 90 minutes each way to attend games, from 8 miles away! That blew my mind. I asked how he could handle that traffic and he said he doesn’t even notice, it’s just how it’s been his entire life. Which I suppose is true. I live 20 miles from Iowa City. I would imagine there are more commuters to Iowa City on a game day than East Rutherford on a Jets game. That said, I can leave my house at 10, drive down, walk about 15 minutes and be in my seat 5 minutes before kickoff for an 11 kick

IMO, people who say this kind of stuff are talking out of their bums. Getting out of the parking lot of MetLife is difficult only if you leave immediately after the game ends. You’ll sit there, like any other sports stadium parking lot, waiting to get filtered through the exits. If you wait 45 minutes, though, there’s really no problem at all. Getting there by car is super easy. MetLife is surrounded by major highway arteries on all sides. If you’re driving and you make good plans (e.g., you get there there NOT 30 minutes before kickoff), it’s really a piece of cake. If you’re coming from the city, the bus from Port Authority on 42nd street is the best option. Takes literally 20 minutes door to door (and it drops you pretty close to me and @Maxman’s tailgate) Admittedly, the Jets/Giants/NJ Transit (a veritable triumvirate of ****-ups) totally botched the train situation to and from MetLife. It’s slow, there’s not enough of them, and you have to connect at Secaucus to get back to NYC. Just a totally sh*tty system.
Jets and Redskins
This has been rumored for awhile. I think they wanted to put a casino there as well. I think it was a mets and jets studium as in two studium and a casino in queens. I don't know if it will happen but there some smoke. I think I first heard about this when they acquired Rogers. I think if they start winning they would try to parlay that into a new studium. After his injury you did not hear anything about the move. I think they have been gunning to get back into NY since the west side studium did not happen. If they do well this year this will pick up steam. It would probably take 5 year to build the place?
