You're saying that assault and running from the cops isn't as bad as a DUI?

The other man most likely swung at Miller first or said something to get Miller to go after him. I don't buy this crap that says that it was a women who said something that Miller swung at her. If he really did intend to her, he must've been intoxicated.

Running from the cops? Cops always over-estimate the running from them policy.

The facts are that this is Miller's first offense while on an NFL roster. The league cannot punish him for actions that occured while he was not in the NFL. This is his first offense while in the league and less than a DUI or shooting so I do not see a suspension in his future, unless of course the Jets as an organization want to hand one out. A fine is probably, a suspension is unlikely.

I think the new policy allows people to be held accountable for past incidents and does not require a conviction. Henry was suspended last year for 2 games for his 4 arrests in over a year and drinking with under age kids.. This suspension was for driving with a suspended license I believe.

Do you really want to compare the Pats cutting Sullivan to the Jets cutting Miller?

1st of all, Sullivan was a huge BUST for the saints, and the pats had nothing to lose by cutting him. If the Jets cut Miller, they will feel the loss of him. When the pats cut Sullivan, it was no biggie, no loss.

Completetly different situation. Sullivan was a worthless player, Miller is already proven he has some value.

Ok, so we have to find someone on the Patriots with talent that did something really F'ing stupid? :confused0082:

That is right. The Patriots talented players are smart enough not to get themselves into bad situations and then make them worse.

It does not matter. This is not like he is the alltime greatest KO returner in league history. He is good. He gives you 28 yards and a TD or 2 every year. Do you want to undermine your team philosphy for a KO returner...err cornerback? If that was Chad or Tom, yeah I understand having a different set of rules because of their 'talent' but also because they have a much higher cap impact. If you set the bar for an exception to policy at Miller's level, you set it pretty f'ing low. Thedn a player that can actually play his position at a higher level then Miller can go WTF when he gets arrested for something similar.

It is not like his KOs transcend the game. He is good at it. Maybe, one day he will have more INTs the KO TDs, or at least one INT.

His kickoffs change the game, smarty pants. The jets wouldnt have won 9 games without miller last year on kickoffs.

Jets are a worse off team without Miller back there on kickoffs. And at 23 yrs old, he's got plenty of time to become a solid corner, so yes it would be ridiculous to cut him and insane to compare it to a fat bum like jonathan sullivan.

Should the Jets suspend him for 2 games? Yes, but not cut him. Its his 1st offense, and not a major thing.

NFL, yo. Higher standard, yo. Stay out of trouble, yo. Is it REALLY that hard?! Good God, comments like this make me want to stab myself in the face with a picnic fork. It's getting warm enough outside for me to do it. Where's the family blanket with all the Jones Beach sand scrunched inside? Ahhh....

That's why you can't become an NFL player. When you are angry you are supposed to stab somebody else in the face with a picnic fork. Anybody else. BTW, I don't consider the NFL as having a "higher standard." With the new Goodell bull**** they are trying to reach a normal "standard" standard, but they are still far from one.

He is in the public eye, so his actions are scrutinized. Actors, visible members of the media, and public officials are also heavily scrutinized as well. What Don Imus said wasn't a big deal, but everyone made it a big deal, what Justin Miller did, well, it was worse than Imus but still in the long run if it was anybody else nothing probably would have happened. If he ran away right away, how did the cops know it was him? Chances are someone knew he was a Jets player, and was looking for a big payday. I read an article that said he was actually fighting 3 guys, that's quite a lot of people to fight at once. I also think that chances are he probably grazed the woman, but still, he put himself in that situation. Imus should have known better, and so should have Justin Miller.

Typical ghetto BS, get drunk, hit on a married woman, and then get violent when she rejects your advances:

Barack aide sez she was gal hit by Jets' Miller

BY JAMES GORDON MEEK in Washington

and ALISON GENDAR in New York

DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

Tuesday, May 22nd 2007, 4:00 AM

Jets star Justin Miller messed with the wrong girl.

The woman Miller allegedly popped in the face outside a trendy Manhattan nightspot is a well-connected aide to powerful Sen. Barack Obama, the Daily News has learned.

Kristen Jarvis, the 26-year-old assistant to Obama's chief of staff, was walking with a painful limp yesterday - and a friend blamed a drunk and violent Miller.

"Kristen has a dent on her chin. She can't walk. It took 15 minutes to get her into her house ... because of pain," witness Lauren Turner told The News.

Jarvis declined comment outside her Maryland home last night and referred questions to her lawyer. Obama staffers also refused comment.

But Turner, the sister of Jarvis' roommate, gave The News a blow-by-blow of the encounter that marred a weekend in New York to celebrate her 21st birthday.

Jarvis, Turner and other friends had just left Aer Lounge on W. 13th St. about 4:30 a.m. Sunday when they ran into Miller and two of his buddies on W. 16th St., just outside the Maritime Hotel, Turner said. Miller, 23, immediately started hitting on one of Jarvis' married friends, she said.

"He was drunk. His friends were trying to make him stop talking. ... He started to make rude comments to everybody," Turner said. "We didn't even know who he was."

When Jarvis' friends tried to deflect Miller, the Pro Bowl kick returner insulted one of her male friends and then took a swing, missing him, according to Turner.

"He stopped and then looked at Kristen. Everybody was just going off at the mouth. They were saying, 'You won't hit us! ... Why are you trying to start something?'" Turner recalled. "Then he hit Kristen in the face."

Jarvis crumpled to the ground.

"She's a tall girl, but he was bigger and he's a man. He has a lot more strength," she said.

Miller - named the league's fastest man at the Pro Bowl in February - took off around the corner, cops said.

Several of Jarvis' friends chased after him and flagged down a cop, who caught Miller hiding in a nearby parking garage, Turner said.

Miller was arraigned the same day on a third-degree assault charge. He later issued an apology for the incident.

"He apologized to the NFL and his fans, but he did not apologize to Kristen," Turner said. "He was mad ... because he couldn't get somebody's number that night and it's a shame that that had to happen."

Just because he was hiding in a parking garage does not mean he is guilty.

not sure why the girl would lie about this incident. he sounds like a scumbag to me & should pay a heavy price for his actions. easy to let hardy nickerson go as he doesn't play much but the jets have a tough decision here

Jets' Miller must wait on punishment

BY RICH CIMINI

DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER

One day after his arrest for misdemeanor assault, the Jets' Justin Miller participated in the team's voluntary daily workouts yesterday at Hofstra and met with coach Eric Mangini. Miller has yet to be disciplined by the team, which is exploring its options under the NFL's new personal-conduct policy.

The league is conducting its own investigation, as Miller's case will be reviewed under the terms of the conduct policy, an NFL spokesman said. Miller could be subject to a fine, a suspension or banishment by the league, although his status as a first-time offender will work in his favor. Miller will be required to undergo a clinical evaluation with the possibility of counseling.

It may take more than a month before Miller's punishment, if any, is handed down. According to the policy, "unless the case involves significant bodily harm, a first offense will generally not result in discipline until there has been a disposition of the proceeding." Miller's court date is June 25.

Miller was arrested early Sunday after he allegedly punched a 26-year-old woman outside a Manhattan nightspot. One report said Miller was swinging at a man, but struck the woman after the man ducked. Miller's lawyer told the Daily News his client was "defending himself" from the woman, who reportedly suffered pain and redness on her face and a cut on her knee. She declined medical attention at the scene. The player was apprehended by police after trying to flee on foot.

The Pro Bowl return specialist, in a statement released Sunday through the team, apologized for the incident.

Commissioner Roger Goodell's edict seems to be having an impact. Just yesterday, the Bengals released linebacker A.J. Nicholson, a repeat offender, three days after he allegedly punched a woman in the eye. The Jets probably won't release Miller, but he likely will receive a fine and/or suspension if convicted. By rule, teams can only release players for lack of skill. The Jets would have a hard time justifying that in Miller's case

Although I don't completely buy this newly posted account, I will say Miller is ****ed and could be done with the Jets, especially if Reeves blows up on returns.

Miller is the best KR in the game behind Hester, we can't just forget about a player like this.

is it because you want to be excused for similar actions? or you believe that people shouldn't obey the law? or you feel drunken fighting is okay? or is it running from the police that you feel is okay?

It's mostly because I don't judge people before I know the facts. A media report does not equal facts. The only people who know what really happened were the ones involved and none of you know why Miller was allegedly throwing a punch to begin with. You also don't know if he was fleeing the cops or running from some dude with a knife or gun. Even if he did get into a fight, although not the smartest thing for a guy in the spotlight to do, I do not find it to be as bad as people are making it out to be.

I hope when the Pats come to town in Sept, Miller is back there returning kicks. Thats all. Whether it's right or wrong, is not my place to judge.

Fully agreed on that. People seem to think they are "God" whenever something like this happens.

people have no respect for the law, it's sad.

And you seem to have no respect for a person's presumption of innocence until proven guilty or the right to a fair trial but would rather judge someone on a media report.

Yes, you're right, he should lock himself in a cage except for when he is practicing with the Jets or playing in a game. How dare him going out to a club with his "hip-hop" mentality! And, yes there has never been a rich person who has run from the cops and gotten into a fight.

Actually, it sounded like he was running from that group and then they had to flag down the cops who found him hiding in the parking deck. It doesn't sound like he was actually running from the cops when he saw them.
