There's plenty of talk about the Nats bringing up Strasburg, but no one anywhere inside nor outside of the Yanks nor baseball has mentioned Jackson getting promoted except may be in September. Your prediction means the would dump either Swisher or Gardner or both to give Jackson time. Neither of those guys is Babe Ruth, but don't see why the Yanks wouldn't be more inclined to give him a full season in the minors. They don't need him unless someone gets hurt.Though Marcus Thames, the extra OF guy as of now, has had a bad spring.

With arguably 3 of the 5 best teams in MLB in one division, nearly a quarter of their games will be against the best in baseball. Who outside of the AL East can say that?

The Redsox are not beating the New York freaking Yankees!

Why?

While the Red Sox did not make many big splashes in FA, they did solifify and upgraded several spots.

They have arguably one of the best rotations in the league.

Scutaro upgrades the SS D and and if he does his career norm, upgrades the O as well.

Beltre is an upgrade over Lowell defensively as his hip slowed him down. Now that he is out of Seattle, his bat should be able to produce what Mike did in Fenway.

Cameroon brings better D then Bay and a more consistent bat.

VMart's bat is a huge upgrade over Tek's and his D is marginally better. Only 90% os base stealers will be successful versus Tek's 99%. :bag:

While a return to 2004 form would be nice from Big Papi, a return to the second half would be nice as well and more probable.

Plus, with Papelbon closing in on free agency, he needs to return to form and proove last year was an abberation.

The Sox will be a lot better team this year. Enough to overcome that 8 game deficit.

Come on, take your ball, call it a day and go home. You've got two titles in your lifetime...call it a gift from the Yanks. I see the Yanks going on another run here with a few titles in the next several years.

There is no doubt the Yankees could be primed, but I am not sold on the Yanks pitching. CC is a stud. Andy? AJ? Until Joba and Phil come along and fulfill their potential as starters, I think the Sox have the advantage in pitching. And some year that G.O.A.T. closer is going to retire. Hopefully sooner rather then later. :D

Now, I am not saying the Yanks cannot mash with A-Roid and Teix. PLus with the further financial benefits of that stadium they are further stretching the gap between the them and the mere 'haves'. They will always contend.

Honestly, I would be surprised if I ever saw them have a losing season under the current system.

That is entirely possible. You could also see a massive breakdown in the aged Yankee roster. A few old body injuries this season and the Yanks could be in trouble. I know the same could be said for any team, but the Yanks aren't as young as they used to be. Maybe not this season, but in the next several years as you put it, the Yankees are going to lose some players to old age and injury. I know they have the money to replace them but it will be interesting to see what they do with the likes of Jeter and others.

That said, I think the Yankees will miss Matsui and Damon and their lefthanded batting in that "stadium."

Should be another fun season.

I know, Grandy and Nick Johnson suck....lol

Granderson is a real nice pick-up, but let's not make Nick Johnson the second coming of Pujols. He is JAG. Vazquez is JAG. Neither of whom lit NY on fire in their first go around. And Damon and Matsui actually had decent seasons at the plate. IMHO the changes are marginal improvements with Vazquez filling that void after the top 3.

With that being said, I am not saying Scutaro, Beltre and Cameron were hot signings.

Scutaro fills in the blackhole at SS. His D is an upgrade and if he hits .260-270 that would be an upgrade as well. Beltre, who hit a lot better away from home, is an upgrade at the plate, he is a huge upgrade on defense. What the Sox lose from Cameron's bat, they gain from his D. Plus, hopefully he will not disapear for tweo months like Bay did every season.

For all the hand ringing about the Sox offense, it scored more runs then during the 2007 championship. If Lackey, Bucholz and Dice-K solidify the starting spots after Lester and BEckett, the Sox will contend for the East and a championship.

It will be interesting to see if Granderson comes back around. He's been dropping in most offensive categories over the last few seasons. I'm sure Yankee Stadium will help elevate those stats. His defense will sure be an improvement over Melky/Damon but it seems like that Yankees traded a lot to get him to be more than just a defensive guru.

Johnson should benefit too, but I think his best days are probably behind him, and they weren't even that good.

Ortizzle....roids should be clear of his system

Papi, A-Rod and all the other juicers will continue to stay one step ahead of the testers. However, Papi's age and weight may be too much to overcome.

Lil Dusty...HUGE dropoff last year

Hell of a player and if he's somewhere between last season and the season before, he should be fine.

Scutaro....Really

Word

Beltre....Fenway will help, but just how much

Hate to say it but I think this move works out well for Boston. At least 25/85 and GG defense.

Cameron....Age plays a factor

Not as much as some think. Dude keeps himself in tip-top shape.

Drew...Sorry, not sold on the bum, glad you have him

Slightly better than a JAG outfielder. Overpaid.

DiceK....How is the arm

Huge question

Lackey....How will Femway hurt his pshyche

He's a vet who has been through a lot of battles. I don't think it has any notable impact if any at all.

Buccholz....Which pitcher are you getting?

Hopefully the one that isn't very good

Bard.....Got belted around late last year/playoffs

I think most pro's get over that kind of stuff. We'll see.

Pabbles.....Was on the mound when season ended for Sawx

Happens to the best of 'em.

??????????????????
