So he seems to think Mark Brunell will be signed by the Jets

yup and Kevin O'Connel and Kellen "Clemmons" cut (misspell just to aggravate Sperm Edwards) oh yea and Marques Douglas re-signed.

As to NS-I don't really get it either

Sorry, I just don't see the love affair with Danny Woodhead. I know there are a lot of fans that like him...I would rather take up a roster spot with a "player" rather than a "good story".

I haven't seen much from him, either. I was kinda intrigued with the idea of making him a slot receiver, but now the Jets have receivers, and RB's in LT and McKnight who can also catch. I don't care how run-first we are, I don't see 2 FB's and 4 RB's making the team, anyway.

I'm hoping someone, somehow beats out David Clowney for the last WR spot, too.

I think it might be Aundrae Allison.

I get the feeling by looking at his salary that if Westerman shows something at training camp Pace could be gone.

I would like to see Westerman get more playing time as the outside rusher

its not an irrational love affair. The guy can help at RB, WR and specials. He's got a year in the system and should be getting faster and stronger this offseason. He knows the plays and the blitz pickups.

In other words unless McKnight gets his act together there's a good shot Woodhead could be useful.

Really? I couldn't disagree with this more. There is no earthly reason to cut Pace. This is an uncapped year and he is a productive player.

Yeah its an uncapped year this year, but beyond 2010 Pace stands to make $7,118,33 in 2011, $8,348,33 in 2012, and $9,573,335 in 2013. In order to make room for the Revis, Mangold, Brick, and Harris deals he may be expendable this year because there would not be the big cap hit this year if Westerman can step up. I think Pace is good, but he is a little overpaid for a guy who's never gotten more than eight sacks in a year. Plus, he turns 30 in Oct. He might not get any better than this.

Dead money if cut this year is over 12 million, next year the cap hit will be -1,921,000

In 2012 it saves them over 2 million

and not knowing the cap situation for next year we may not have the room. The cap hit may be only 1.921,00, but the total dead money is $9,039,999 and we could use that for the big four we still need to sign.

I think once Woodhead gets a chance he'll show he's a real player. Other than playing poorly on special teams against MIA he always come through when they put him in. But until he gets serious playing time no one can say they know for sure.

I hate the "just give him a chance" argument. We've seen what he can and can't do, and there's a reason he hasn't been handed "serious playing time".

Just like last season, if he makes the team, he'll be the last of the 53 to make it.

this years team is so "star" heavy, we need some ST players, with luck he can make up for the loss of wright

ive counted the names twice and haven't gotten close to 53. It's more like 56 names on that list. Even with Santonio's suspension, his count's high.

lol. Count again.

It's 53 including Santonio Holmes.

He lists:

24 on offense (5 WR, 8 OL, 3 QB, 6 RB, 2 TE)

26 on defense (8 DL, 8 LB, 6 CB, 4 S)

3 on specials only

Even though they're listed twice apiece, the Jets are not actually entering the season with two guys named Wayne Hunter nor two guys named Matt Slauson. Sometimes the same football player is listed on the depth chart at two different positions.

Come on Spermy, that makes too much sense...there has to be some kind of conspiracy thing going on.
