Picking Super Bowl winners in July has never been easy. Too much parity, too many teams separated by nothing more than a key injury or a crucial interception.

Spotting the trendy picks for Super Bowls in July has never been simpler. From one publication to another, one talk show to the next, the Cowboys and Jets are the media's darlings and the people's choices for Super Bowl XLV.

While some prefer flying under the radar, that's seldom an option for the Cowboys. When everything a team does is magnified, a long-awaited playoff win one year is sure to turn into expectations of parade routes the next.

Coach Wade Phillips doesn't mind the role, even if he's not your basic seize-the-spotlight head coach.

"It puts focus on what's expected. There's pressure to do well," Phillips said. "Anytime you have pressure to do well, you do better."

For the Jets, great expectations are not the norm. Having long shared a home field with the New York Giants, the Jets usually rank a distant second to the Giants on the interest meter.

And the Giants have won three Super Bowls

History: Edge to Cowboys. Dallas has been there, done that many times. The Cowboys have failed to meet expectations at times, but at least they are nothing new to their core players and coaching staff.

The Jets won 200% more playoff games during the current calender year than the Cowboys have won in the last 15.

Who's RECENT history has been more successful?

I actually agree with the conclusion that the 'Boys are more likely to get to the Super Bowl than the Jets, but that was one seriously homeristic article. Experience at the QB position, and a weaker field of top teams in their conference definitely tilt the odds in their favor. But that's it.

Slight nod to the Jets on dee, nod to the 'Boys in the running game? C'mon!

It's the DALLAS MORNING NEWS.

WTF did we expect him to write?

Seriously. How in the hell can we criticize a DALLAS reporter picking his team to win over a team he has no clue about???

If Manish picks the Jets to win is some crasy Cowyboy fan going to post a thread killing Manish???

When all is said and done, Wade Phillips is still their coach. They didn't play New Orleans last year because of him. 100% Phillips. That was one of the most poorly coached games against Minnesota I've ever watched. Dude sucks. He holds that team back as much as Mangini and Herm held us back for too long. Can't imagine them getting over the hump so long as he's there.

The Cowboys actually have a harder road to the Super Bowl than the Jets.

While Dallas may have an easier time winning their division (NFC East) than the Jets will have winning theirs (AFC East), I think the teams Dallas will have to beat in the post-season are generally BETTER TEAMS than the Jets would have to beat. In other words, the best NFC teams are better now than the best AFC teams, IMHO.

Austin, Dez and Witten are going to be an explosive offense. Dallas is going to be real good this year.

Witten worries me, but 24 and CRO eliminate Dez and Austin. Also, in a BIG spot, Romo will ALWAYS throw a couple up for grabs.

hmm... boys won 4 (including super bowl) in '96 and they won 1 this year... even not counting '96, we only won 100% more than them (2 to 1).
