HessStation
Brian Winters School: Kent State Position: G Bio: Four-year starter with experience at both left and right tackle. Awarded all-Conference honors the past two years. Positive: Dominant small-area blocker who plays with a nasty attitude. Stays square, quickly gets into opponents and explosive at the point of attack. Works to bend his knees, keeps his feet moving throughout the action, and remains fundamentally sound. Jolts defenders with violent hand punch and anchors in pass protection. Gets movement when run blocking and drives defenders from the play. Makes good use of blocking angles in pass protection, stays with the action, and works hard until the whistle blows. Terrific awareness and blocking vision. Negative: Lacks fluid footwork sliding out off the edge. Overextends into blocks on occasion. Not a natural knee bender. Analysis: Winters has been a consistent player on the college level and a lineman who's watched his game progress the past two seasons. Playing both tackle spots for Kent State, Winters will likely be pushed inside to guard at the next level and offers immediate starting potential.
