77DRAFT
Is a trade going to materialize ?, or is cutting ties like a bitter divorce ? I would draft a bruising FB like Lorenzo Neal was), who can escort this guy into some long runs, We need a terminator type FB who scares people, could also be a valuable tight end block option. Johnson and Jacoby Ford ran the two fastest times in the history of the combine. They are the fastest men in the NFL, I think Johnson's time was slightly better than Ford's, Refridgerator Perry ran the slowest 40 history back in 81. #27TheDominator
You don't draft Lorenzo Neal. FBs don't become that reliable until they are in the league for years.
BroadwayJoe12
Jacoby actually ran slightly faster than Johnson, 4.22 compared to 4.24, respectively. Nick Mangold did not run as fast.

77DRAFT
I have absolutely no idea what is going on here. Post is a joke, meant to be funny, the board gets boring and slow, a lot of people don't see the humor in my posts, but they are meant to be funny and this is not the NY TImes, people take posts and comments too seriously, I like the posts and responses that get laughs, if my posts are so bad why do they get so many hits ? JXD
I think by Monday or Tuesday they must release him or pay some sort of roster bonus. For the same reasons the Jets held onto mark in hopes of picking up a draft pick. Teams aren't falling for that anymore. They just call your bluff and wait. Picks are precious. GangGreen25
Are we flirting with this guy or is this some media created BS. Why would we spend millions on a running back where all things considered we are not that bad off. Yet not be willing to pay a starting caliber CB any money? He is not getting a roster bonus but Titans have scheduled workouts on Monday. They just assume not have him there or worse get hurt and have to pay him. I don't want this guy. Hope it's all hype. JXD
He's 28 and last year is the closest he's ever come to mediocrity, otherwise we're talking a guy who's spent the bulk of his career as an NFL elite. I don't get why last year gets to outweigh the whole body of work, even if I can understand why it's weighed slightly more (it's literally the only reason the Jets might have and take a shot at Johnson). That coupled with the fact that the market is slow on RB's. The best prospect Tate had only one suitor in Cleveland. No one needs a starting RB and Johnson is going to have to settle for the team who wants him most as backup and can promise him touches. Enter the NY Jets. With Goodson's court date taking place AFTER the draft, the Jets have to make a move or rely on a draft pick to upgrade the position with the reality that Goodson goes to the slammer. With all the remaining needs not met in FA, to place RB as a draft need bumps another out of the way. My money is on the Jets going after him. But I'd be out of money by now as I've been wrong all FA

Clementi49
I have been reading this forum for a while now. Finally signed up because this forum is the most jaded group of Jets fans I've ever heard. You do not represent the overall thought process of our actual nation. Why not get Chris Johnson ? He's 28 years old. You are all acting like he's coming here for 10 years. You all do this with every player. No one is good enough for the Jets but we should of gotten everyone that's available they we are linked to. Make up your damn minds already. Watch some gametape on him last season. He's not hitting holes hard, he's going down VERY easily and he's leaving a ton of yards on the field. Sperm Edwards
Now 28 is old? lol. 28 is not "old" for any position, RB included. RBs are often still well in their prime at 28 (assuming they had a prime to begin with). A 15 year-old maybe thinks 28 is old.

If he signed with us, I'd say he was amazing. But since he is going to be a Giant.. he is a washed up has been.

With the cash the jets have i really think hes signing with them. I hope cj does prefer giants over jets though whoever signs him will still get a solid back maybe mot 2000 yard cj but he can still take it to the house at any time

Splash moves aren't our MO anymore. But yeah, CJ is someone I would really like to see in our backfield, but I have zero confidence it will happen. All i know is that i think cj will suprise lot of people. Hes still got speed and is a homerum hitter. I think he needs a change of pace and a new offensive scheme and he will bounce back. Johnson's had six straight 300+ touch years and one year with over 400, that's a lot of punishment for a guy that's listed below 200 lbs. I still think he'd be a nice compliment, but by and large I view it as a young man's position and one that I could get good production out of mid-round draft picks. It's one of the deals I'd be happy with whether we get him or don't. If we don't, I'd like to see someone like Sankey or Seastrunk brought in, maybe even Mason if they want to invest that high of a pick.

Sometimes those leg injuries linger throughout a whole season. I call that the reason we'll be able to sign a 28 year old former superstar. This offense has a massive shortage of home run hitters, and here's a chance to land a guy who was one of the best. Even in his bad year he was almost at 4 yards a carry with 10 total TDs. He's a perfect compliment/platoon partner to the more physically powerful Ivory and an upgrade to the overall depth of the offense and RB.
