See, now THIS is something to go after Idzik for.

I'm fine with not overpaying for free agents, and building through the draft.  But if that's your strategy, you need to hit on those draft picks.  Especially in a draft as deep as this one was.

A fourth rounder cut four weeks into the season.  Terrible.

Agree with this 100%.

Was totally on board with Idzik's strategy this offseason.  However, the draft is a back alley abortion and at this point, you pretty much have to fire everybody.

Seahawks' draft picks starting slow

Most of the 2013 rookies for the Seattle Seahawks were viewed as having a redshirt year last season. It’s early, but the same might be said for most of the 2014 rookie class.

So far, the only major contributor of the 2014 draft picks is Justin Britt, who is starting at right offensive tackle.

Two of the nine picks were cut -- fullback Kiero Small and defensive tackle Jimmy Staten, who now is on the practice squad.

Defensive back Eric Pinkins is on non-football injured reserve, as is offensive tackle Garrett Scott, who learned during his team physical that he has a heart condition.

Rookie receiver Kevin Norwood of Alabama had foot surgery during training camp and has yet to be active for a game.

Receiver Paul Richardson, defensive end Cassius Marsh and linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis have played but have yet to make much of a contribution.

Richardson, the speedster out of Colorado who was a second-round pick and the first player selected by the Seahawks, made his first NFL catch on Sunday against Denver.

Marsh, a fourth-round pick for UCLA who is viewed as relentless pass rusher, has four tackles and no sacks. Pierre-Louis played for the first time Sunday after missing the first two games with a hamstring injury and had a tackle on special teams.

Six of the 11 draft choices in 2013 are no longer with the team _ receiver Chris Harper, running back Spencer Ware, guards Ryan Seymour and Jared Smith, linebacker Ty Powell and offensive tackle Michael Bowie.

Two others have yet to play in an NFL game – defensive tackle Jesse Williams (injured reserve) and cornerback Tharold Simon. But Simon will play soon after undergoing minor knee surgery there weeks ago.

Running back Christine Michael, a second-round choice and the first pick by the Seahawks last year, has not been on the active roster yet this season, but he is healthy now after being out with a hamstring injury.

Two 2013 draft picks are playing a lot as backups -- tight end Luke Willson and defensive tackle Jordan Hill. But Hill has one tackle and Willson, who had 20 receptions and one TD last year, has only one catch this season.

Idzik has to find out which area scout pimped Saunders, how Saunders' name got through to the point of consideration, and find out how he came to be valued as a fourth rounder in their minds. Then he has to start firing those people tomorrow.

That would take somebody with the ability to solve problems. there isn't one Jets employee that could handle that responsibility.

Then Idzik needs to find the highest window in the building, and jump out of it.

Comparing the Jets to Seattle is kind of like when people were comparing Geno to P Manning last year. Pointless. It's well documented that the talent found in Seattle was mostly due to Pete Carroll and his knowledge of the group of kids from when he was recruiting them all out of high school. It wasn't their GM or their front office. There is no comparison here.

Didn't mind the pick, but why in the 4th rd. he would've been there in the 7th. You can say that about every pick after the first 2. Reached on all of them.

It is a step in the the right direction that we didn't just hold onto him to save face.

Like I said in another post, I think that guy from Walter Football was spot-on:

"It doesn't appear as though the Jets understand the value aspect of the draft. They see players they like, and they take them, completely ignoring the fact that they can obtain better prospects at earlier picks all while still securing the players they covet much later."

You can't compare 2 teams drafts from the last couple years?  Not the success of the teams - just the drafts?

**** up wr's? How the hell does Stephen Hill make zero progress in his time here, much less regress? Dude needs to be fired along with the rest of this coaching staff and our dumbass front office. People on here clamoring for Benjamin don't seem to realize that the Panthers had to coach him up. Dude struggled with catching, on our team he would've been the next Stephen Hill.

Ricky Proehl is their WR Coach. Ironically Hill's agent was hoping Hill would end with Carolina when he was initially waived by the Jets so Proehl could work with him.

The Jets have Sanjay Lal I don't think he ever played a down of NFL football

The funniest thing about Lal is right after the Jets/Lions game, on comes a clip of Louis Murphy catching a long pass from Mike Glennon to set up the game winning touchdown. Murphy was coached by Lal in Oak, now he is performing and catching passes welll. And he is now catching them from a better QB than Geno who was picked two rounds after Geno. Can't make this stuff up if you tried.

That's a lot harder roster to make than this one.

Personally I think Saunders got in Rex's doghouse and he forced this move to send a "message" to the offense which led to the players only meeting.

Rings hollow when you wont bench the worst qb in the league with a historically bad first 20 games under his belt for a guy making 5M bucks--typical scapegoat move, which rex has proven quite adept at during his tenure here.

Sidenote: I wonder who is having more regret right now. decker, vick or cj?
